No because what Conrad did in episode 7 was actually INSANE.
Like… you wait until the night before YOUR BROTHER’S WEDDING to start trash-talking him and trying to convince Belly to drop everything and run back to you??
Are you kidding me??
He literally spends half the scene listing every terrible thing about himself (which btw… are actually TRUE) just to make Belly feel bad and “remember how much he’s suffering”.
That’s not vulnerability. That’s emotional manipulation.
And the SECOND he notices that the guilt trip isn’t working, he immediately switches to shitting on Jeremiah.
“Oh, he’s not good for you.”
“Oh, he only acts this way because he’s trying to be better than me.”
Like?? What the actual fuck?
This is literally his BROTHER.
And Conrad has the audacity to stand there — on a beach, the night before their wedding — and say “you shouldn’t marry him, you should be with me” like it’s the most normal thing in the world.
No shame. No self-awareness. Zero respect for Jeremiah OR Belly.
And this is what pisses me off the most:
Jeremiah spent the entire season actually being there for Belly. Supporting her. Listening. Loving her in a way that’s genuinely healthy.
And Conrad just walks in, drops a “btw I still love you” and fully expects her to throw everything away???
I swear I wanted Belly to SLAP him in that scene.
The fact that she ended up crying afterwards while he walked away like the tragic hero???
I’ve never been so angry at a fictional character.
And I’m sorry but “I love you” isn’t romantic when you only use it as a last desperate attempt to sabotage your brother’s happiness.
You don’t get to call it love when you’re actively trying to ruin someone else’s relationship.
Especially not the night before their goddamn wedding.
And don’t even come at me with the “he only did it because Jeremiah cheated!!” excuse.
First of all: JEREMIAH. DID. NOT. CHEAT.
Jenny Han herself literally confirmed that.
Second of all — Conrad himself literally says two sentences later that “this isn’t even about that.”
So what the hell is it about then??
Exactly. It’s about him not being able to handle the fact that Belly chose someone else.
And yes — the moment Belly shut him down was honestly so damn satisfying…
but the fact that she still ended up crying afterwards completely destroyed me.
Like why does he get to drop an emotional bomb and walk away — and she’s the one in tears??
And don’t even get me started on the fact that people are now like “bUt He WaS CrYiNg ToO 😭”.
Excuse me??
He drops a literal emotional grenade, ruins Belly’s peace the night before his brother’s wedding, walks away — and then five minutes later sits somewhere with one single tear rolling down his face and we’re supposed to feel bad for him??
Be serious.
