Family Flashbacks || Seb & Iris
Sebastian: nodded at his sister, walking over to kiss her cheek. "Of course. I'd do anything for both of you. Only if you race me back to the house." He said with a wink.
Iris: "You'd know I'd do anything for you too." She smiles as Sebastian kissed her cheek and rolled her eyes after. "Fine, Flash. On three. One....two....THREE!" She starts to take off hoping to be fast than her brother, which was impossible.
Family Flashbacks || Seb & Iris
Sebastian: kicked a couple of rocks into the water, not getting too close since he wasn't going to let another pair of converse get ruined. He grinned softly as Iris spoke, nodding as he looked up at the sky. "Yeah. I agree. I know last year was pretty sucky here, but I think that makes us appreciate it more. That's what life is about. Accepting the bad so the good is even better. I know that." He smiled as he looked back at Iris.
Iris: she smiles up at Sebastian. "Let's also make this trip unforgettable for Dad too. He's worked so hard to make sure that this trip would be great and I think he's more excited than us."
Family Flashbacks || Seb & Iris
Sebastian: laughed softly. "I would love to see that happen, bub. Maybe you'll catch a few fish out there." He raised an eyebrow at her and chuckled again. "You'd trust me with no training at all? In that case I'm officially a doctor on call." Joe nodded in agreement. "You didn't get that first aid training for nothing at school. But I'll go unpack the fishing poles before the weather has a chance to change its mind." He smiled warmly at his kids before he headed back to the car. Sebastian grinned at his sister, standing as well and walking over to look out toward the lake. He let out a content sigh. "I don't think we have anything to worry about. I think this will be a great week."
Iris: followed him over to the lake and took off her shoes to dip her feet in the water. She sighed happily. "I agree. I think this week will be great. I wasn't looking forward to it, but it seems God and the universe wants us here."
Family Flashbacks || Seb & Iris
Sebastian: grinned softly. "No pressure to get into med school or anything," he laughed. "But I'll do it, somehow." Joe rubbed his son's shoulder and nodded. "You will. I know it. You may even want to become a surgeon or something." Sebastian smiled, since his family's faith in him meant the world. "Thanks, Dad. That would be amazing... I'd love to help people who are really sick." The father grinned proudly. "I know you will. You will help a lot of people, son." He looked at his daughter then, a smile still wide on his face. "Thanks, baby girl. You can even choose your fishing pole." Sebastian laughed as he glanced at his sister. "You can use the little one. But, we still release all of the fish we catch. If we catch any, that is." Joe chuckled, nodding. "We never seem to get to that point, do we? The day we do catch one, we'll make sure it gets back home though."
Iris: "Well I'll be the first one to catch a fish then." She winks at her Dad and gets up. "If we have any accidents on this trip, I put my life in your hands, bubby. You need the training anyway." She laughs. "But I have a great feeling about you being a doctor. You're going to be great."
Family Flashbacks || Seb & Iris
Sebastian: let his head rest on Iris' and sighed happily. "It'll get better every year. The more time we have together, the better." He smiled at his sister and laughed at Joe. "We have to grow up so one day we're up to date on all of the news in town, and so you will both have a doctor for life." Joe smiled proudly and nodded. "Alright, good point. The gossip and medical insurance will be great. But this week we can focus on fishing without being rained out."
Iris: hugged her brother's arm and laugh along with their Dad. "Yay for free Doctor appointments." Iris looked up and sighed. "I wasn't going to try fishing, but I'll do it for you Dad since watching you last year made me so sad. You were so ready for it, and then you got rained on. So I'll try it for you."
Family Flashbacks || Seb & Iris
Sebastian: grinned at Iris and nodded, leaning against her. "We will always have that," he agreed. He kissed his sister's cheek and smiled softly. "Well, lucky for you we are both hard to get rid of." He snorted as he looked at his father. "Right, Dad?" Joe rubbed his shoulder and nodded right away. "We'll always be together... because I'm never letting you two grow up."
Iris: smiled when Sebastian kissed her cheek. "Aw you're so sweet." She leaned on his shoulder after and listened to their dad. "Well, you'll have to let us grow up at some point, Dad. However, we have now so let's make this the best vacation yet, okay?
Family Flashbacks || Seb & Iris
Sebastian: shook his head, shoving his sister playfully. "I'm not... it just takes forever to get it this way. You know that," he laughed. He raised a brow at Iris. "What? You don't agree?" Joe chuckled, "How could I forget about Nolan? You two gabbed about him at dinner every night for a month at least. But it's nice to hear you come back down to earth." He sat on the couch on the other side of Sebastian and ruffled his hair next. "Dad!" Sebastian whined with a laugh. "Fine, you both make me mushy, okay?"
Iris: laughed. "Well, at least we bond over that for sure." She winked at her brother and leaned back against the couch. "To be honest, I'm usually happier when I'm with you both so I think this week is going to be great."
Family Flashbacks || Seb & Iris
Sebastian: shrieked when Iris messed up his hair, immediately swatting her hand away. "Hey, hey... watch the hair," he laughed. He fixed his hairdo and chuckled again. "I'll push you in that lake if you're not careful." He gave her a wink. Joe sighed as he looked at his two teenagers. "Maybe the makeover will inspire the two of you to get outside this trip and not stay in your room watching the Bachelor." Sebastian let out a laugh. "In our defense, Nolan was very gorgeous last year." His grin softened as he looked at Joe as well. "You know we'd enjoy the trip no matter what, Dad. As long as we're together."
Iris: just laughed. "You're like Uncle Jesse. Chill. If you push me in the lake, you're gonna wish you hadn't." She sat down on the couch next to Sebastian and nodded. "He's right, ya know. It was a great season, indeed." She nudged her brother and chuckled. "Aww, such a sweet Hallmark card you are."
Family Flashbacks || Seb & Iris
Sebastian: stuck his tongue out at his sister before going to lie down on the new couch. He mimicked her voice playfully, "Thank you for the great idea, Sebastian. We don't know what we would do without you," he laughed. "I think that's what you meant." Joe shook his head with a laugh, and then glanced at his daughter with a shrug. "I put the right address in the GPS... I guess they realized this place needed a little TLC."
Iris: went up to him a ruffled his hair since he hated that. "Oh, bubby, what would I ever do without you." She said in a southern belle accent. She went back to looking at her father. "I'm glad they did, though. It needed it like crazy. I love this patio. It's a perfect ready spot. And I know I hate swimming in that lake, but it looks so much better than last year."
Family Flashbacks || Seb & Iris
Sebastian: was lying on the bed, looking around at everything in the room. He smiled softly as he listened to his sister and father from the other side of the wall. He popped up when he heard Iris call for him and rushed outside. Joe chuckled when his then sixteen year old nearly knocked him over when he ran by. "Slow down, Flash," he teased. He walked outside after his kids and his eyes widened. "What in the heck... now I'm not sure if we're in the right place," he laughed. Sebastian grinned when he saw the fire pit. "And you both laughed when I picked out supplies for smores... look who will be thanking me later." Joe crossed his arms and chuckled again. "You're right, bud. You're a genius."
Iris: rolled her eyes at her brother. "Oh whatever." She looked up at her dad. "Dad, are you sure this is the right place? I mean, it doesn't look the same when we left it last year."
Family Flashbacks || Seb & Iris
Sebastian: shrieked when his sister jumped in the hammock with him, covering his face as he laughed again. "You're gonna crush me!" he snickered another moment before following Iris inside. "Hopefully... that night I though you were drooling on me, but then I realized it was coming from the ceiling." He stepped into the house and immediately went into their old room to look. "Looks pretty good to me!" he called to his sister. He dropped his backpack onto the bed before sitting down on it, rocking up and down slightly when he noticed how soft the new mattress was.
Iris: walked in behind him and looked around. The cabin looks completely different and Iris was loving it so much. She walked into her old room and saw that it nice and dry with a brand new mattress and comforter. It looks like a little country home and she thought it was so cute. She left her stuff in her room to check out the back porch where the lake was. She gasped. The patio was beautiful like something that you see out of a magazine. There was a fire pit and new furniture and a dock leading out to the lake. "Bubby!!! Come look!"
Family Flashbacks || Seb & Iris
Sebastian: glanced away from his sister again, since reading in the car made him sick. He focused on the view of all of the trees and his music until he felt Iris' touch. He looked ahead then and felt his own jaw drop at the sight of the cabin. "Whoa... it looks amazing! Dad, are you sure we have the right address?" He let out a surprised laugh before tearing out of the car. He didn't need to worry about large puddles this year as his feet carried him quickly toward the house. He looked around at the porch, stuffing his iPod into his pocket before noticing changes himself. "Guys, they even got a hammock!" He didn't hesitate to plop into it, laughing loudly when it swayed back and forth quickly after how hard he landed in it.
Iris: quickly marked her page and followed her brother out of the car. She looked around and laughed when Sebastian landed in the hammock. "Hey make room for me!" She said and got on top of him. She laughed again but got off a second later. "Maybe the inside is nice too!" She waited for her dad to get to the door since he had the key. "Maybe they fixed the leak in the room."
Family Flashbacks || Seb & Iris
Sebastian: covered his mouth as he laughed, which caused a gasp from Joe. "Lord help me, leave it to my kids to take such a feel good country song and turn it into blasphemy..." The father sighed. Sebastian snorted and shook his head. "Whatever helps you sleep at night, Dad..." He chuckled again, turning up his music once again.
Iris: just rolled her eyes and went back to reading her book. She looked up every now and then to remember where they were and to see if they were almost there. Before long, they arrived at the cabin and Iris was shocked at how it looked. She tapped her brother's knee. "Look! The owners must have redid it." The cabin itself was still wood, but the porch had been redone and new windows were placed in. It didn't look old, but looked brand new really. "Wow...Dad it looks really pretty."
Family Flashbacks || Seb & Iris
Sebastian: ran a hand through his hair as he kept his gaze out the window from the passenger's seat. He could see his adoptive father in his peripheral vision, singing along to the same road trip CD he dug out every time they took a family road trip. The only reaction Sebastian had to the sounds of country was blasting Twenty One Pilots on full volume on his iPod. The family had lived in Ohio for a year now, because of the opportunity Sebastian had gotten to attend Dalton Academy. This made their new tradition was going to stay in a cabin by the woods. Sebastian loved the outdoors, however he only remembered the previous year when it rained the whole time they were out there and it was not fun. His sister complained about her hair frizzing whenever they stepped outside, and he ruined his favorite pair of converse. Even so, he was always the positive one out of the three so he kept it up. However, he caught some of the song Joe was singing, badly, to and he shook his head. "Dad, no disrespect to the mix you surely made when you had big earmuffs on... but, this song is pretty horrible." Joe, however, only began to sing louder. "I can take you for a ride on my big tractor. We can go slow or make it go faster. Down to the woods and out through the pasture. 'Long as I'm with you, it really don't matter... take it, Seb!" Sebastian just covered his face to create a facepalm, hiding the fact that he was really laughing. "You are actually singing about sex... I hope you know." He glanced back at Iris in the backseat, bursting out laughing further.
Iris: had made sure to record the episode of The Bachelor that she was going to miss. She was upset, but she knew that she could get caught up easily. She was already not looking forward to the trip since the previous one was horrible. Since it rained, there was a leak in her room only and got her bed soaked. She had to bunk with Sebastian and she hated it because he was such a bed hog. Iris loved that her dad wanted to have family trips and all, but going to the lake was something she didn't have in mind. When Sebastian complained about the music she agreed. "I second that. Dad, can you turn it off or pick a new song?" She listened to her brother say a comment on the song being about sex and she couldn't help but laugh and cringe at the same time. "I wish you hadn't said that."

Promise you’ll keep running no matter what… for me. Promise. [Sebastian smiles softly before his eyes close once more. His head drops to the side slightly and his breathing evens out when he starts to drift off.]
(She watches Sebastian fall into sleep and she smiles) Of course bubby....I always will....no matter what. (she sighs and holds onto his hand as he leans back in the chair. She watches TV for a bit and end up falling asleep about an hour later.)
