Her closeness simply stresses his posture further as he looks into her eyes.

"...I'm intrigued. Why do you insist on speaking to me?"

A single, slow breath, and he closes his eyes, thinking for a moment as he idly straightens out his suit.
"Niceties and manners won't spare you from your fate. You do know that, don't you? I don't care how many of the Sternritter play house with your kind, it won't change what will be. I don't understand why you Hollows insist on attempting to get into our good graces while your days are inevitably numbered. It won't bring the salvation you may seek."

A pause, and he turns in her direction, looking directly ahead, over the top of her head.
"...I'm intrigued. Why do you insist on speaking to me?"

Dusts off his suit and glances around. Shivers a bit. Cold, today.
He's right. No wonder they're a little lethargic.
He stares, with a very subtle doubletake. Instinct has him fumbling with his sleeves. He doesn't sense anything close to a Hollow's spiritual energy...so...

Dusts off his suit and glances around. Shivers a bit. Cold, today.
"...Has it quieted down, now?"
Peace, quiet, and tea.
Unamused, he crosses his arms.
"Is that supposed to be funny? The real joke is your assumption that I care to humor you. You look like a waste of space."
He doesn't mean it, and it shows in his tone. To Lyric's credit, they did almost get him, and curiously, he doesn't think they're a Hollow, so warily, he has no issue with them, besides the random pouncing.
"Oh? Good going---you sound just like my dad."
⇒ They uncurl their curved spine and stand slowly to show they are no threat of a sudden movement against him, but even at their full height they're smaller ( still, their size isn't everything. if they had landed than pounce, who knows what may have happened to him. ) They blink slow and seem far less interested in hunting him than they had been a moment ago.
"Who I am doesn't matter too much, but without being overly technical I suppose I'm Sternritter Lamb's ward, for whatever purposes that serves. I mostly just spend time waiting around, though."
He ignores the first statement, entirely. His gaze follows just above their head, a single brow raising in curiosity.
"A Sternritter's ward? You're not a Hollow, are you?"
He stares down at the sulking person, eyes not quite direct at them, narrow, scrutinizing.
"Who, and what, are you?"

⇒ They stare him down for a long moment from their sulking position closer to the floor, a somewhat hunched look of defeat that their patiently-planned pouncing didn't work on the first Soldat they saw. They give a huff between boredom and petulance.
"What do I look like to you, ya Hot Topic escapee?"
Unamused, he crosses his arms.
