“Touché. Well, so long as one doesn’t suddenly pop out of the sand, I should be fine?” Though the way those men worked when it came to celebrities, he wouldn’t be surprised... just might lose his normal, cool facade. “Believe me when I say I’d be the person they doubt the most over something like that. I’m just a glorified technician to the station I work for, Scout’s honor,” almost on instinct, Matt held up his hand, mimicking the salute he knew from his youth with a smile.

“Oh, come now, the water’s fantastic -- d’accord, maybe after some getting used to. But five minutes of wading should fix that?” he smirked, glancing towards the horizon. “These definitely beat sunsets, but then again, I’m biased. There’s just something about the warm sun carving up the cool sky, brightening all that it touches.” Matt then cleared his throat. “Or... something.” He wasn’t used to going on tangents like that out loud, just in his writing.

Picking up his towel and shaking the sand out of it, he couldn’t help but note, “I’m surprised you’ve managed to slip away from your security, mademoiselle.” He gave a soft laugh as he draped the towel over his soaked torso. “My apologies. I’m a production assistant intern. Every time you appear somewhere I have to do work, I can’t help but notice.”

“I’m just like trackers and a muscle shirt, so that’s not too bad.” At least Joe didn’t wear a bunch of layers to sit on the beach given how warm it was outside already. “I’ve never been here when it was Halloween. So I’m not sure what to expect when it comes time. I suppose I’ll find out.” he said with a chuckle. “They’re probably all sleeping if we’re honest here….” He knew that most people that lived around there were actors or musicians, in which they worked crazy hours, so they most likely weren’t going to be up super early.

“Exactement. The water’s fairly cold too, so even if you just dip your feet, it’ll be a nice break from the weather we’ve been having,” he raised one end to ruffle through his hair, “I’d say it’s worth being out here despite the chill in the fall, be it for the carnival or just people watching. I do it every year.” Shrugging slightly with another nod, Matt remarked, “Fair. That or at the gym. Off the record? I never realized how many people were into regular workouts until I moved here.”

Nora made a habit to start her day off at the beach, it allowed for a calm moment of reflection, a moment of nature and peace before the start of a crazy work day. It wasn’t often she saw someone along this stretch of beach, so when Matt spoke she almost jumped outta her skin, she had been rather lost in thought, but she smiled. “It really is quite a beautiful morning. What brings you out here so early?”

Though it was faint, his expression was slightly was apologetic. He wasn’t much for spooking people -- at least, not unintentionally. Matt sometimes forgot that he kind of bulked up since he’d started in big industry porn. “It’s the best time to swim, especially with how hot it’s been, hah. I don’t think I’ve ever run into you before though. I’m Matt, from the cottage down the way.”

“It is quite nice,” Joe commented with a smile. “Except I’m not too sure how warm the water is. Not that I’m dressed to go in the water.” He didn’t have the thoughts of getting into the water, especially so early in the morning. For Joe he was just out there enjoying the peace before everyone was out and about making far too much noise.

“I’ve definitely seen people dressed worse,” the older man chuckled, “Halloween always is an amusing time along the coast.” Having only brought a towel and water bottle out here, he didn’t worry about leaving them out with the lack of attendees. Matt simply shook the fluffy cloth free from debris before wrapping it around his shoulders. “With quiet times like these, I’m surprised residents don’t take advantage of this as often as I thought they would...”

On days like these, there was nothing more refreshing than a good swim. With no summer courses to worry about this year, Matt took advantage of the cooler mornings to go out to the beach beyond. Noticing he wasn’t the only one, he nodded. “Beautiful morning, oui?”

“You can’t have balance without the imbalance to be honest, it is a way to tip things back to where they should be. New York can be forgotten when there’s two other places that are more prominent for filming. I was going to suggest making a point to go to some place you’d like to see once a year; but I don’t know what your schedule is like and if you can do that. I’ve been traveling since I was a kid though if I didn’t have the career that I do. I’d feel the same way as you do – where I’d like to go traveling to different places. Getting paid for your work is always nice. At the same time, internships aren’t too terrible either, so I guess it’s how you view it really.

“That’s true. I’ve heard nothing but good things about Georgia and Texas, especially when it comes to the food and sights. The locals apparently vary between regions or something though. Oh, I’d love if I could go somewhere but alas, neither jobs have been too keen on giving me longer than five days off. I’ve half a mind to take a chance and see how far I can drive and still make it back within that time frame, honnêtement -- better than sitting and wondering, you know? It really does vary. I enjoy both dynamics since it’s different environments, but I know I’ll be happiest when I can finally start doing my own work. Really get my hands dirty.”

A DEVIL IN DARK GREY;

Matt Rolfe’s Car -- a Porsche 911 Carrerra S from 2017, the models are amongst the top of the line in luxury sports cars while holding a relatively modest price. Customizations include black leather rooftop cover, black wheel rims, chrome interior accents, dark gray leather seating with heating and ventilation controls, driving and engine mode controls (eco, city, silent, sport), race car-style steering wheel, remote controls on the key (entry, rooftop cover, startup), simplified and black-painted rear logo, and tinted head- and tailights. It has been a longtime dream for Matt to own a 911 since he loves its simple and sleek design, and he’s made it a hobby of his to upkeep the car when not studying or working. Like with the cameras he owns, tinkering with the vehicle is his version of therapy. One could say it’s his one counter-action to heavily drinking the night away.

Or they fabricate the bad side for sympathy. Sometimes New York as well. I’ve been all over though filming wise. If it wasn’t for the traffic around LA it would be great to drive from one place to the other. Do I want to know what your other job is?”

“That’s completely understandable. There always has been a fine line between balance and imbalance, after all. Some people, unfortunately, cannot see that though... I forgot about New York, merci. I can only hope to travel far and wide someday, but I’m still young, oui? Hah, it’s nothing terrible -- I still work with filming and all that, just at another studio for pay instead of the internship hours. A man’s got to help make ends meet.”

“Exactament! It probably doesn’t help that I constantly encourage this behavior but ah, well. Goodness, I hope they didn’t stick around for too long and shut off the car at least. Engines have a tendency to shatter. Hah, it’s alright. I spent a lot of time saving up for her and do some of the maintenance myself. It’s hard not to bond especially when it’s something you dreamed of owning one day.”

If you really want to play that way though, I suppose I cannot stop you. Where do you want to begin?”

“People are far too curious, it’s in our nature. I don’t think I could live out in Santa Monica not that it’s not a nice area because it is. But for me, I like being in the LA area because when I have to work here it’s a lot easier than driving in and back out again. I’ve done that enough already since last month with driving out and back in to LA because we were shooting on location.”

“True enough; I know I could never stop my bit of hunger for knowledge, to see meaning in both the good and bad parts of life. It adds a bit of realism whenever I do a project reel for my filming classes. Ah. I can understand that from an acting standpoint -- everything’s either here, Austin, Texas, or Atlanta, Georgia. It can be frustrating to constantly drive between places. I actually just came back from my other job. Weekdays, I’m here, weekends, I’m there.”
