Pocket Monster Hunter // AU Red
Even with his experience, Red still commonly dismissed the idea of thinking things thoroughly through. Though at this point it was something of a habit, it’s not often he gets a prompt amount of time to think, it’s either be quick on your feet or get yourself killed. Either way, the hunter in front of him seemed to be a rookie, so it was pretty embarrassing taking a fall like that.
As he got up from the bush, now not caught by his bow, Red shook out the bits of grass and Arceus knows what else from his hair and looked at his savior. From the looks of him he seemed to take quite a fall himself, though he quirked an eyebrow at his little comment.
"Hmph, what was that?.."
Let’s keep that attitude in check, fighting a fellow hunter is rather disgraceful, and often never has a positive outcome. He stepped out of the bush and gave his head another shake, picking small bits of residue from his armor.
"Uh, right, I wasn’t running away from anything. It’s you I was going after, I heard terrible roar from..what I assume was an angry mother dragon.."
He said as he squinted slightly, pointing at the egg in the boys clutches.
"So I got a lil curious and made my way over, then I heard someone else taking a loud tumble, which I assume was you. And here we are, traveling through tree tops is a bit tricky..especially when you’re kinda clunky like I am right now."
Red gave the young hunter another quick glance, for someone so inexperienced, he took up a mission that dangerous? He didn’t even do that when he started off, this kid seems to be pretty interesting.
"Gotta say, it’s pretty ballsy for someone at your level to take up a mission like that..Heh, you got a name? You can call me Red."
Instinctively Touya’s grip tightened on the prize he was clutching onto, either the fact the mothers protective instincts wore onto him during that chase, or it was just the fact this entire mission had given him such a close brush with the horrifying jaws of death which had happened to have lit up with the paralyzing embers of an inferno. Either way this object was going to stick with him like a piece of armour until he would eventually hand it over to the hands of the hero waiting back within his village.
The brunette’s curious gaze stayed fixated on the raven haired stranger standing before him, the more he stared the more awe-struck the newbie felt, this guy obviously wasn't your average hunter you would get paired with or bump into when travelling. Though the main thing which left the boy a little star struck was the pierceing red eyes he had, this was the first time he was greeted by such a unique colour.
Nodding his head on occasion as the hunter spoke Touya somehow, with some kind of miracle, keep his gaze steady instead of focusing on the slight movements of branches, droplets of water, wind shaking bushes just all the things he was constantly conscious of with the dangers lurking threatening to end his story any given moment.
“Red...” He finally repeated, at least it was an easy name to keep track of, maybe it was a hero like name the guy had chosen for himself? Maybe they might had been similar in that aspect?...
“Well, Touya is the name on my end, though it gets change to Tou pretty much all the time”
A slightly sheepish smile finally formed back onto his face, “Though if I could chose, I would had gone with something a little more subtle but… ‘beggars can’t be choosers’ right?, and besides if I turned it down I would probably be letting a lot of people back down at home…”
After all… he was the only potential that village had going for them, there may had been hero's who already made names for themselves but a tribe can only live so long on the achievements made in the past, that and with illness striking most of the villages best hunters he had no choice but to get thrown straight into the fangs and claws of the wilderness.
“My village is real pushy with amateurs and stuff like that, the best way to learn is through experience, you can agree with that one right? You look like you must have made a big name for yourself somewhere… Especially with a name like Red, that’s a good one they could with for campfire tales.”
Quickly glancing back toward the egg the boy's face seemed confused for a split second... did he just feel shaking just then?... No that's insane it should be a new egg, dismissing the thought instantly he stuck with the excuse it was probably his hand doing the shaking, and with nerves like this it wouldn't be the first time.
