I remember during my first few months in accountancy, I was so anxious and intimidated by my classmates in section 7. Most of them were either Science High School graduates or honor students. I just graduated as a regular student, ranked 8th overall in the batch—though nothing worth bragging about.
I initially gained confidence when, in our first major subject departmental exam, I got 87%—the 3rd highest in the class. And as time went on, I realized what they often said was true: sometimes, your past doesn’t determine your future. College is a level playing field, and everyone has an equal chance to prove themselves.
Now that I plan to take law, sobrang anxious ko magmula written exam up to dean's interview. Very articulate ng fellow applicants.
Sa Panel interview kahapon, i am frustrated kasi nakakatakot at napakahigpit nung nag-interview. I was asked these questions:
Tapos kanina, sa interview with the dean, the setup was like a recit in an actual law class. The dean called names and asked specific questions na very random. I was so intimidated dahil ang gagaling magsalita ng mga kasabay ko, especially yung mga polsci or legal management graduates. The questions asked mostly pertained to social issues and current events. Pero lo and behold, nung ako na, the questions were:
WAIT. ADS. GRABE YUNG KILIG KO 🥰🥰😂😂
Kahit sa panaginip kayang-kaya ko sya idescribe anuba!!!!! Dun sa last question, i tried to be neutral because honestly I like them both. To be fair, Mayor Isko has introduced a lot of progressive reforms to Manila. But in terms of number of reforms and their significance, particularly in procurement, it would be mayor Vico. Tas nagjoke si Dean "Pareho naman silang pogi ah. Hiindi ba dahil mas gwapo si Vico?" And everyone laughed 😂
Grabe ang grace. Sa totoo lang, God saved me 😭. Kasi if ibang question ang natanong, I think hindi ko masasagot nang fluent sa English. I have negative thoughts, though—grabe kasi mga kasama ko sa classroom. Lahat articulate and really know how to express their views and reasons. Parang ako lang ang hindi fluent magsalita 😭.
Also, naka-chat ko yung one of my fellow applicants na nasa ibang room. He's very articulate—PolSci grad with Latin honors, former SK Chairman, and working at the National Youth Commission. He shared that he found a potential circle of friends (btw, I met him during the application for the entrance exam, and until the panel interview, nakakausap ko na siya). Grabe yung circle—may UP Diliman graduate, dual citizen na napakagaling magsalita, may host sa Wish, another PolSci grad, and all of them are eloquent daw. I'm happy for him, pero at the same time, nanliit ako. I'm just a regular student. I can't even brag about my undergrad because so many years have passed since graduation (2014-2025).bKailangan ko na nga yata ng refresher huhu
Naiiyak na naman ako until God reminded me of my Accountancy days. Who would have thought na makakasurvive and graduate ako on time? Andami kong hardship doon 😭 Tas pinasa ako ni Lord sa CPA board on first take 😭 grabeng grace ng Panginoon.
Please God. Please be gracious to me hanggang maging lawyer ako 🙏😭
