Money is money. Whether the skulls you’re smashing are human or monstrous, it’s all the same in the dark… or if you’re getting paid. At least, that’s what Deadpool thought, anyway. But there’s something lurking in the hills that’s bigger than money, and it demands more of Wade than he’s ever given, and perhaps more than he’s willing to give. But hey, it’s all the same in the dark, right?
Written For Spideypool Priestfest!! An amazing event that I can’t recommend enough. so much talent packed and so many wonderful people.
Snake Oil

It’s the roaring 20s, but in the small upstate New York hamlet of Middle Grove it sounds more like a snore. Peter Parker grew up in the Methodist church there, raised to follow his uncle and grandfather into the ministry. But religion, the idea of a great beyond, of an unknowable hand guiding his fate, doesn’t make as much sense as the scientific journals he’s been perusing. When Peter’s Uncle Ben died, the little town was left without a minister, and his Aunt May begged him to fill in. Preaching the word to a restless flock and trying to write for the local newspaper takes up too much of Peter’s time, and his friends have left for college while he’s stuck holding the church and his small family together.
Then a traveling snake-oil salesman rolls into town. This smooth-talking man with the scars covering his body seems to actually be helping people, somehow. Is it the sweet soda water he's hocking as medicine? Or is something deeper going on, something that defies both the religion Peter grew up in and the science he's adopted? Mr. Wilson’s sideways glances and joking innuendos are infuriating. And captivating. Peter needs to learn his secrets, but the journey to knowledge will take him down a dark path.

A travelling doctor starts working in Dentin, a small town somewhere on the East Coast. Father Wilson is unsettled by how deeply Doctor Parker became enmeshed in the town, and how the doctor seems to know things about Father Wilson’s past.
Father Wilson realizes he’s in over his head once he’s kidnaped Doctor Parker, tied him to a cross, and hid him away in the rectory. There’s got to be a way out of this, right?

Come Hell or High Water | Chapter 1
Title: The Rain Series: Spideypool Rating: PG-13 Summary: When Spider-Man gets roped into some occult nonsense courtesy of his frenemy, the mercenary formerly known as Deadpool, it’s all he can do to hang on to his sanity as they navigate their way through hell and back. No, literally. Notes: This was written purely to prove you can submit all sorts of content for the Priest Fest events without actually involving either of the main characters as priests. Hope it inspires folks to generate more content and that you have as many laughs reading it as I had writing it. Part two is coming soon.
Excerpt: “Didn’t your mom ever teach you not to run around with sharp objects?” Peter sassed his on-again, off-again frenemy. He barely had enough time to shoot a web at a nearby rafter and avoid the next blow before it caught him in the shoulder. “Quite the contrary, my spidery friend. Mother insisted!” This and other banter continued as they fought inside the warehouse with Peter using his Spider-Man powers to dodge, duck, dip, dive… and dodge everything that Deadpool threw at him. Through a strange series of events and a burner phone, Father Parker begins to use information he hears in the confessional booth to tip off a certain scarred stranger for small favors within their community. His guilt over breaking the seal of the confessional starts to subside as he befriends Wade, growing closer to the man even with all the relentless flirting. But some people don’t take too kindly to their secrets being exposed, as Peter soon learns.

PRIEST FEST SIGN-UPS ARE OPEN NOW!!
After reading the rules, schedule and FAQ, click here to sign up!
Priest Fest 2020 Schedule
September 25, 2020 - Sign-Ups Open 11am EST
October 25, 2020 - Sign-Ups Close 11pm EST
November 1, 2020 - Check-In 1: Idea for Priest Fest content selected. (To ensure you’re not waiting until the final moments. Holidays are rough!)
November 25, 2020 - Check-In 2: Progress Check. (See FAQ for more info about check-ins.)
December 15, 2020 - General Progress Check
December 24-26, 2020 - POSTING PERIOD! Merry Priestmas!
June 20, 2021 - Writer’s Deadline if you want to participate in Priestmas in July 2021. If you do not plan to participate in this event, then the next deadline will apply to you.
September 30, 2021 - Writer’s Final Deadline. All Writers should have their fic completed by this deadline in order to participate in the Priest Fest 2021 event.
Priest Fest 2020 Rules
You must be at least 18 years old to participate because of the nature of some of the material.
You must sign up by October 20th. Failure to sign up by this date will mean you’ll have to wait until the following year to participate.
You must meet all Check-Ins. Failure to do so will result in disqualification from the event. Check-ins are conducted via email, so please be sure to check the email you used to sign-up. For specifics about check-ins, please check the FAQ.
Spideypool should be the main ship.
Your piece should have a religious or sacrilegious element. This could involve one of the boys as a priest (thus the name of the event) or even a preacher, minister, etc. It could take place in a church but they’re still hero/merc. Heck, if you want to draw/write a story that involves a post-apocalyptic world where one of them is the Antichrist, that counts too.
The posting period is from Christmas Eve to Boxing Day (December 24-26, 2020). This should give you ample time to post during this busy time of year. Please keep in mind that the collection approval and tumblr repost may take a day or two to take effect, especially if you post late on the 25th or on the 26th. If you can’t meet this deadline, there’s always next year. (See the Priest Fest 2020 Schedule for more details).
This event is open to writers, artists, and all fandom content creators. For Writers: During the posting period, you will post at least the first chapter on AO3 and add it to the Spideypool Priest Fest 2020 collection. For Artists: During the posting period, submit your art to the Spideypool Priest Fest tumblr page. For other content creators: Please contact the mods about what kind of content you wish to create, so the mods can construct the proper check-in requirements for you.
You must complete your content before September 30th, 2021. We don’t want overlap between Priest Fest events, plus it’ll give you a break. If you don’t finish before the deadline, you will not be able to participate in next year’s event.
If you wish to participate in Priestmas in July 2021, you must complete your content before June 20th, 2021. This goes back to overlapping Priest Fest events. If you don’t make this deadline, you still have three more months to finish to qualify to participate in Priest Fest 2021.
Priest Fest 2020 FAQ
Does one of my duo have to be a priest? We only require religious (or sacrilegious) themes. One of them could be a priest, minister, religious figure, even the Antichrist, but it is not necessary. They can be ordinary people, with or without their superhero powers, as long as religious themes are somehow incorporated.
How soon can I start my fic/art piece for Priest Fest? Feel free to start as soon as possible. As long as you meet the required deadlines, we don’t mind an early start.
Can I submit content other than fic/art for the event? Yes. However, it is intended to promote original content. Ask a mod about what specific content you want to provide to be cleared. We accept comics, fan videos, etc, but if your content type is not listed, let us know.
Why is it a posting period and not a posting day? How does the posting period work? You can post anytime during these three days! The posting period gives you more time to post since it is the Holidays. If you got busy Christmas plans, you can post on the 24th instead of the 25th, or just wait until the 26th. No need to miss a deadline all because of family meals, travel, and the likes. Writers: Post at least the first chapter of your fic on AO3 and submit it to the Spideypool Priest Fest 2020 Collection. Artists: Submit your art piece to the Spideypool Priest Fest tumblr page. Other content creators: Specific instructions will be give to you based on type of content.
Why are there two deadlines for fic writers? The first deadline (June 20, 2021) is only for those wishing to participate in Priestmas in July 2021. You may not participate in that mini-event if you have not completed the previous event. The second deadline (September 30, 2021) is the hard-set and final deadline for the event overall.
What if I do not finish my Priest Fest fanfic by the deadline (September 30, 2021)? There are two repercussions to this. (1) You will not be able to participate in the following year’s Priest Fest event. (2) Aside from the Christmas Day posting to announce the start of the new tithes of priestly spideypool content, we will not be promoting works (fanfic, fanart, podfics, etc.) unless they are completed. So, if you want your work to be included in the tags page and posted on the Spideypool Priest Fest account, you will need to have it completed.
What is required by the first check-in? You just need to let us know your idea for Priest Fest 2020, just enough to ensure that you are at least thinking about the event and what you would like to do.
What is required by the second check-in? Writers: If you’re writing a one-chapter fic, you will need 50% of it done with an outline for the rest. If you’re writing a multi-chapter fic, you will need 75% of the first chapter done, with an outline of the rest. Artists: You will need half the sketch of your art piece. Other content creators: Please contact mods during sign-ups so check-in requirements can be made for the type of content you wish to create.
I want to write a fic but don’t have an AO3 account. Can I still participate? All fics must be posted under the AO3 collection. If you do not have an AO3 account as of yet, please go request an account as soon as possible, since it can take up to several days for you to receive an invitation.
I am an artist and don’t have a Tumblr account. May I still participate? We will be posting all art posts on the Tumblr account. The submission page allows you to either log into via tumblr account or just submit your name and email address, therefore, no account is necessary.
Can I make NSFW content? Yes, BUT! if you are a writer, you must properly rate your work. If you are an artist, you must host your art on an external site, and submit a SFW teaser to the art piece through tumblr submission page. Be sure to include a link to the full NSFW in the caption.
Am I allowed to work with a partner for any of the events? Yes. So long as you give credit where credit is due. If you wrote something together, you will both be listed on the fic post as authors. If you created an art piece together, both of you will be listed as the artist. If you paired with an artist/writer, you have to credit them in your post. And don’t forget to tip your bartender, I mean, credit your beta.
Can I create more than one form/piece of content for the event? Absolutely. If you have the time for more than one art piece/fic/content for the event, feel free to submit them all. Just be sure you’re not overworking yourself or missing any of the deadlines. (This means if you’re writing two fics and you don’t complete one by the final deadline, you’ll be disqualified from Priest Fest 2021.)
Do I need a Beta for my fic? You are not required to get a beta to look over your fic, but we would strongly encourage you to find a beta since betas will help take your fic and polish it into a beautiful gem. Please use a beta you are comfortable/familiar with or if you need to find a new beta, you can join the Priest Fest discord server to contact one of our Rosary Betas.
Great! Now how do I sign up? As long as sign-ups are opened, you can click here!
If there are anymore questions, please contact a mod!
Sign-ups for Priest Fest 2020 will open soon! Be on a look out for the rules, schedule, etc.
