XYY syndrome, also known as Jacobs syndrome and Superman syndrome, is an aneuploid genetic condition in which a male has an extra Y chromosome. There are usually few symptoms. These may include being taller than average and an increased risk of learning disabilities. Most individuals with this condition have normal fertility.

Treatment may include speech therapy or extra help with schoolwork, and outcomes are generally positive. The condition occurs in about 1 in 1,000 male births. Many people with the condition are unaware that they have it. The condition was first described in 1961.

Some medical geneticists question whether the term "syndrome" is appropriate for this condition, because many people with this karyotype appear normal.

The false stereotype of XYY boys and men as violent criminals has also been used as a plot device in the horror films Il gatto a nove code in February 1971 (dubbed into English as The Cat o' Nine Tails in May 1971) and Alien 3 in May 1992. The main character of the 2005 film Neo Ned is a neo-nazi who has an extra Y chromosome.

In Greek mythology, Pygmalion (/pɪɡˈmeɪliən/; Ancient Greek: Πυγμαλίων Pugmalíōn, gen.: Πυγμαλίωνος) was a legendary figure of Cyprus. He is most familiar from Ovid's narrative poem Metamorphoses, in which Pygmalion was a sculptor who fell in love with a statue he had carved.

In Greek and Roman mythology, Galatea (/ˌɡæləˈtiːə/; Ancient Greek: Γαλάτεια, romanized: Galáteia, lit. 'she who is milk-white') is the post-antique name popularly applied to the statue carved of ivory alabaster and loved by Pygmalion of Cyprus, which then came to life by the will of Aphrodite, the goddess of Cyprus. In surviving classical sources, this statue has no proper name, with "Galatea" being established by eighteenth-century writers, although the name is now inextricably tied to the statue ever since.

Camelopardalis is a large but faint constellation of the Northern Sky representing a giraffe. The constellation was introduced in 1612 or 1613 by Petrus Plancius. Some older astronomy books give Camelopardalus or Camelopardus as alternative forms of the name, but the version recognized by the International Astronomical Union matches the genitive form, seen suffixed to most of its brighter stars.

First attested in English in 1785, the word camelopardalis comes from Latin, and it is the romanization of the Greek "καμηλοπάρδαλις" meaning "giraffe", from "κάμηλος" (kamēlos), "camel" + "πάρδαλις" (pardalis), "spotted", because it has a long neck like a camel and spots like a leopard.

In Chinese astronomy, the stars of Camelopardalis are located within a group of circumpolar stars called the Purple Forbidden Enclosure (紫微垣 Zǐ Wēi Yuán).

The Camelopardalis dark region is a complex of molecular clouds and dark nebulae visible in the direction of the southern part of the constellation of Camelopardalis. It is a system of clouds and young stars located within the Orion Arm at about 1000 parsecs (3300 light-years) from the Solar System; it shares the same galactic region as Cassiopeia OB6 and lies beyond the star formation complexes of Perseus and Taurus.

114 Kassandra is a large and dark main-belt asteroid. It belongs to the class of rare T-type asteroids. It was discovered by C. H. F. Peters on July 23, 1871, and is named after Cassandra, the prophetess in the tales of the Trojan War.

This object is classified as a rare T-type asteroid, with parts of the spectrum displaying properties similar to the mineral troilite and to carbonaceous chondrite. The shape of the spectrum also appears similar to fine grain from the Ornans meteorite, which landed in France in 1868.

The 2009 miniseries Meteor featured 114 Kassandra being sent on a collision course with Earth due to a comet impact and the effort by scientists to stop it.

In Greek mythology, Cassandra, also spelled Kassandra or Casandra, (/kə.ˈsæn.drə/; Ancient Greek: Κασ(σ)άνδρα, pronounced [kas:ándra], or referred to as Alexandra; Ἀλεξάνδρα) was a Trojan priestess dedicated to the god Apollo and fated by him to utter true prophecies, but never be believed. Kassandra lived through the Trojan War and survived the sack of the city, but was murdered by Clytemnestra and Aegisthus when Agamemnon brought her to Mycenae as a pallake. [Pallakai (Ancient Greek: παλλακαί; singular pallake (παλλακή) was the general name given to concubines in ancient Greece.]

In contemporary usage, her name is employed as a rhetorical device to indicate a person whose accurate predictions, generally of impending disaster, are not believed.

Hjalmar Frisk (1960–1970) notes "unexplained etymology", citing "various hypotheses". R. S. P. Beekes cites García Ramón's derivation of the name from the Proto-Indo-European (PIE) root *(s)kend- "raise". The Online Etymology Dictionary states the name is of uncertain origin "though the second element looks like a fem. form of Greek andros 'of man, male human being." Watkins suggests PIE *(s)kand- "to shine" as source of second element. The name also has been connected to the Greek kekasmai "to surpass, excel."

Kassandra was described by the chronicler Malalas in his account of the Chronography as "shortish, round-faced, white, mannish figure, good nose, good eyes, dark pupils, blondish, curly, good neck, bulky breasts, small feet, calm, noble, priestly, an accurate prophet foreseeing everything, practicing hard, virgin". Meanwhile, in the account of Dares the Phrygian, she was illustrated as ". . .of moderate stature, round-mouthed, and auburn-haired. Her eyes flashed. She knew the future." In the Iliad, Homer described Kassandra as the fairest of all Priam's daughters. Euripides wrote that she had light (xanthous) hair and wore a crown of laurels when prophesying. Ibycus mentioned that she was light-eyed (glaukopida), an epithet also used for Athena.

Zaden (/ˈzeɪdən/; Georgian: ზადენი, romanized: zadeni) was, according to the medieval Georgian chronicles, the god of fruitfulness in a pre-Christian pantheon of the ancient Georgians of Kartli (Iberia of the Classical sources). King Parnajom of Iberia (109–90 BC) is reported to have built a fortress at Mount Zedazeni to house the colossus of Zadeni which, along with other pagan idols, are said to have been destroyed through the prayers of St. Nino, a 4th-century female baptizer of Georgians.

Beyond the passages from the medieval annals and the surviving toponym of Zedazeni (from Zeda Zadeni, i.e. "Upper Zaden"), we lack contemporary records and archaeological evidence about this cult, however. Zaden is surmised by several modern scholars to have been a Georgian version of the Luwian Santas or the Hittite Sandon, but the identification with Yazata of Zoroastrianism has also been suggested.

The crater Zadeni in the southern hemisphere of the dwarf planet Ceres was named after this deity.
