Current thoughts on the “Resurrect The Avatar!” project.Â
My thoughts on this blog, and it’s intention, have shifted slightly after looking through the survey results and from the sustained exchange I’ve had with fans from both Tumblr and other websites.
It is clear that a lot of fans are interested in more content from the Avatar universe; however, I’m unsure how to proceed due to the following:
Is it worth it to continue this in its current format? I think I got a little over zealous with all of this. ATLA is undoubtedly one of my favorite series, ever; however, I think I started doing research on the possibility of a continuation in a very limited manner that restricted outcomes in a way that I was honestly never even considering because I wanted more Gaang. Because I really want to see the Gaang’s story continue, I pursued that line of questioning; however, that was a huge error on my part. I should have started by asking about a more general continuation framework within the Avatar universe (i.e. pre-ATLA, post-ATLA and how far in the future, post-LOK, non-Avatar focused, etc...). Having recognized this error, I’m wondering if it is a good idea to kind of “start over” and pursue a more general line of questioning within the Avatar universe that isn’t Gaang focused.Â
Is pursuing this venture actually a good thing? I had someone tell me they thought this whole idea was terrible because it would essentially force Mike and Bryan to revive a part of their careers that they may want to creatively outgrow and let go of. As someone who is passionate about my creative endeavors, I don’t know how I would feel if I managed to create something that defined me forever and I wasn’t really allowed to move on from it. Maybe this seems like an idiotic thing to be worried about, but it is something that really made me think and that I am, honestly, still thinking about.Â
What should I do with this blog? Truthfully, I’m not sure if I should continue the “Why We Should Resurrect The Avatar” series and keep running the survey I had or if I should do another survey that takes a more general approach to possible future content with the Avatar universe or if I should just make this a fan blog or if I should maybe just delete this blog all together... once I decide, I’ll will let you know. For now, I’m just going to keep this blog running with random ATLA stuff I like.Â
Thanks for all of the support thus far and, as always, if you have any questions or anything you want to share, please feel free to message me ✌🏼

So... this is my best attempt to present, in as much of a concise manner as possible, the things you guys wrote in the comments sections I placed throughout the survey.Â
NOTE: I also feel compelled to explicitly say, for the sake of making things easier to share, this is not an exhaustive or highly detailed list of answers but rather is meant to capture the ethos of the fandom as displayed through the survey results.Â
Do you support the possibility of an Avatar: The Last Airbender revival?
A lot of you expressed that you only want this done if it is done well and merits the intricacy and profound character development in the original series.Â
Many of you felt that there were still valid stories to be told within Gaang and their journeys; however, some of you expressed a fair amount of skepticism about continuing their story.Â
If Avatar: The Last Airbender were to be revived, would you want the creative team to consider the graphic novels as being canon?
The general consensus appears to be that the graphic novels are disliked; however, there is also a fair number of people who strongly believe the graphic novels should be considered canon.
Several of you wanted the comics to be animated.
If Avatar: The Last Airbender were to be revived, would you want the creative team to consider Avatar: The Legend of Korra as being canon?
While many of you are passionate about keeping Legend of Korra canon, many of you expressed concerns over it’s possible limitations to an Avatar: The Last Airbender revival.Â
List of proposed plots:
Spiritual pet companions to the AvatarÂ
Development of technology and its implications
Animating comics
Exploration of Air Nomads (their lives/practices)Â
Further exploration of Katara’s character post-war
Aang + Zuko’s relationship post-war
Founding of Ba Sing Se
More information on Freedom Fighters
Extermination of dragonsÂ
An avatar anthology series
ClassismÂ
New Ozai Society (from graphic novel)
Azula + Zuko reconciliationÂ
Kana
Scientific research which attempts to understand and quantify bending
The tie between White and Red LotusÂ
Toph’s life changing field trip with ZukoÂ
Plots that several of you expressed interest in:
Further development of Azula
Further development of SokkaÂ
Further development of Zuko’s relationshipsÂ
Relationship between the four nationsÂ
Development of Republic CityÂ
Struggles that emerged for individual characters and nations post-war
A series that remains within the Avatar universe but that is completely brand new:
Pre-ATLA (specific interest in Kyoshi was highly expressed)
Post-LOK
Focus on someone who isn’t the Avatar (bender or non-bender)
Which members of the Avatar creative team would be essential for the development of a great revival?Â
A lot of you expressed interest in essentially the same individuals:
Aaron Ehasz
Elizabeth Ehasz
Michael Dante DiMartino
Bryan Konietzko
Soundtrack team from ATLA
Original voice actorsÂ
Sifu Kisu
Andrea Romano (who I recently found out retired).
As much of the original creative team as possible (unidentified)

So... the day has come to post the results of the “Resurrecting The Avatar: An Exploratory Survey” and I’m excited to share everything with you. I wanted to post everything in one place; however, I’ve decided to break everything up into three parts: quantitive data (this post), qualitative data (next post) and maybe a brief post with some thoughts.Â
In the interest of pure transparency, I feel inclined to say I got well over 300 replies, unfortunately, some unforeseen limitations on SurveyMonkey made it impossible to account for all of the results without paying for a membership with the website (which I’m not currently in the position to do). That was complete researcher error on my part and I am very sorry to anyone whose survey wasn’t counted because of this; however, having run 4 of the surveys and seeing where the data fell makes me feel confident that the general sentiments within the fandom were captured.Â
This is probably going to be a really long post, so please bare with me. I’m posting images of all the graphs first and will post a brief outline of the data incase it is difficult to see visually.Â
A G E : The majority of you who took the survey (53%) are 18-24.Â
S U P P O R T : 83% of you do support an ATLA Revival and 81% of you would rate your enthusiasm on the prospect of a revival at at least an 8 (on an 1-10 scale).Â
N E T W O R K : 48% supported an ATLA Revival to be done in partnership with Netflix; however, 46% of you said that you didn’t care if it was created with Netflix or Nickelodeon - you just want more Avatar.
C A N O N : In the event of a Revival, 37% of you wanted the creators to be mindful of the graphic novels but not let their presence hinder any portion of the creative process; meanwhile, 61% of you wanted Legend of Korra to be considered canon.Â
P L O T : The two plot lines that most people displayed interest in are exploring Zuko in his role as Fire Lord and Iroh’s Backstory.
C R E A T O R S : Lastly, 35% of you would like Mike and Bryan to at least have some supervision role if a new series were to occur and 33% of you are okay with minimal involvement from Mike and Bryan as long as Aaron Ehasz is part of the new series.Â
SURVEY RESULTS HAVE BEEN REVIEWED AND WILL BE POSTED TOMORROW!Â
Keep a look out for them and, as always, if you feel compelled, feel free to contact me with any thoughts, questions, concerns, etc... Â
Thanks for all of the support thus far, you guys have been great ❤️

Why Should We Resurrect the Avatar (V): PAST AVATARS
One thing I’ve had a few people express interest in is in a new Avatar series that pre-dates Aang so we can get a better understanding of a past Avatar. Since we usually see Aang interacting with Roku or Kyoshi, those are often the names I see people requesting the most.Â
While there aren’t really any specific points I feel I could make in argument of this (only because I feel my knowledge of past Avatar’s is too limited), I do think it is a really compelling idea that is worth exploring.Â
For those of you interested in the Resurrect the Avatar Project (AKA my attempt to get the show revived on Netflix) please take this short survey: https://goo.gl/forms/ilnKy2CzbibsKwxT2
there’s some lava bending going on there…. so she separated the ground down to the mantle layer (magma chamber)? then floated that chunk on lava then air bended it over?Â
This is often cited as the single most powerful feat in bending in the entire franchise, and I’m inclined to agree. Kyoshi Island also manages to wind up quite a distance from the mainland–let’s assume it’s still on the continental shelf, otherwise MY GOD–and is large enough to sustain a reasonably-sized village with agriculture. Unless there’s an earthbending equivalent of the great comet going on, this is nuts. Avatar Kyoshi also lived to 230 years old. All of this begs the question to me–what the hell was up with her? Did she get a spirit-world power boost or something? These things are all very much outside the norm, even in a world of such extraordinary people. What’s everybody’s theory on this?
She was just that strong
My thought has always been that Kyoshi was one of the few Avatars that was completely at peace with who and what she was.  Every other Avatar we’ve seen – even the best of them like Aang and Korra – are conflicted over what they have to do and how they do it.  Guilt and self-loathing over their responsibilities and actions, regret over what they could have done better.
Kyoshi, however, never doubted herself.  Even without being arrogant, she always saw that what she did had to be done.  She took what were the only options.  You see this even in the advice she gives to subsequent Avatars: Be decisive.  Be final.  Commit.
Because of that, she was one of the few (Maybe only) Avatars who was able to completely encompass the powers available to them.  No part of her subconsciously didn’t want to use them.  There was no hesitancy buried so deep that she even didn’t realize it,  Unlike Aang, or Roku, or Koruk, or Korra, or Yangchen, or even Wan, she was able to give herself over totally to whatever she was doing and hold nothing back.
That’s why she was able to accomplish feats of bending and skill that no other Avatar could equal: Because she, alone of all the Avatars, had she SHEER CHUTZPHA to do it.
What she said: I'm fine
What she meant: Suki seems to live as an independent adult despite being 15 years old, where are her parents? Are they dead? Suki never mentions any family, but she must have relatives. Why/how is Suki the oldest of the Kyoshi Warriors? What happened to all the adult Kyoshi Warriors? I doubt Kyoshi Warriors retire at young ages, so where are they? The current ones had to have been taught by someone. When we're on Kyoshi Island we don't see too many adults, let alone adult women. Where did they all go? Did the older Kyoshi Warriors go off to fight in the war? If so, how come Oyaji said that "Kyoshi's stayed out of the war so far"? Also was Suki's mother a Kyoshi Warrior? Suki must have begun training at an early age and learning at home would seem to give her an edge, making her the most skilled among her age group as she is shown to be. Did Suki have a similar relationship to her mom like Sokka had with his father? It seems like Suki and Sokka could have a pretty interesting conversation about that. What about-
Can we talk about how Suki is the most badass character in the whole Avatar universe? Here she is, an unarmed non-bender, and here are hundreds of rioting prisoners and guards, plus four armored firebenders and the guy who runs the whole prison, and she just deals with them all while the (tough warrior) guys who are supposed to be helping her are still arguing about what they should do.
adult suki i guess??? or older teen. idk i just love her lol
