Super excited to announce that the graphic novel I’ve been working on for the past two years is finally being published on November 16th!!!! You can pre-order it here on amazon!
“Anna is the daughter of an American couple working in Cairo. Layla is the daughter of the doorman in Anna’s apartment building. Together they strike up an unlikely friendship that is put to the test when both girls are faced with family health crises at home and revolutionary unrest on the streets. As Anna and Layla reckon with illness, risk, and loss in different ways, they learn the power of friendship and the importance of hope. Ultimately, they must recognize that there is still time to fight for a better tomorrow, together. Lissa brings anthropological research to life in comic form. This powerful fictional story deftly bridges the experiences of two young women—one dealing with kidney failure and organ transplantation in Egypt, and the other with breast cancer genetics and prevention in the US. It is the first book in a new series designed to combine scholarly insights with visually rich storytelling in order to foster greater understanding of global politics, inequalities, and social life.”
just a cool girl??
lmao i hate perspective
i dont know what i’m doing anymore
been rewatching sailor moon recently so here’s some shameless self indulgent haruka, my dream girl
emerges from the depths of comics hell with a meet the artist, didnt get tagged but i love to talk about myself so
cleaned up and colored some traditional sketches!! lol i’m officially deceased after that last episode……… but also living for yuri growing his hair out and the two of them living together in russia !!
why did you decide to move to new york?
lmao so im assuming this is someone i know irl since i didnt write anywhere on my tumblr that im in ny, in which case u can just contact me on fb or smth?? lol it’s fine tho.
ummm lots of reasons. after graduation i had a lot of realizations as to what i need in life in order to maintain my mental health and general motivation to do work. i need to be in a fast paced place that can inspire me, with plenty of resources- in an artistic, academic and personal way, where there are lots of people, organizations, exhibits, events, and places that are actively inspirational and make me excited to work, which is something i totally lacked while i lived in boston. because of all these resources, im also continuing to learn the subjects im interested in outside of school- for free! there’s a lot of communities here that i can participate in and find my place with, such as collectives for queer asian femmes, or chinese americans, or recently graduated illustrators! lots of connections and opportunities available here, both professionally and socially! i think ny really is the right place for me right now!
just a real quick sketch paint of these two because i dont have time to do a real drawing but i love them??? and i havent done this style in quite a while so

Glinda is the bomb !!!!!!!!!!
I noticed you haven't been posting in a while... Are things okay?
i’m doing okay, no worries! i’ve been really busy working on an ethnographic comic book that’s set to be published in 2017, which i’ve essentially been treating as a full time job, plus more job/freelance searching so not much time to do personal work, but i’ll definitely try harder!! i’d love to post some process work from the comic here, but i’ll probably have to check with the publishing company first ahaha
do you do commissions?
Yes! I will be making a post about it soon!
omg I love ur art so much u are literally art goals !! I was wondering if I could use ur art as my phone background?? have a wonderful day <3
yes of course!!! thank you, you too!!
hello! I'm sorry if this is a super random out of the blue question but, do you happen to be Mongolian? Because I'm half Mongolian and I guess I thought that it would've been super rad if you were because there aren't that many Mongolians where I'm from/online ; ; (also your art is absolutely amazing and you seem like a really great person) (+ 80s lance I am fucking SOLD)
yeah i am actually!!!! well, i’m a quarter mongolian and three quarters han chinese lol. but that’s awesome! yeah i haven’t met many mongolians online either, and omg thank you!!
Can you believe I finally got my shit together enough to open a print shop? But yeah, super excited to announce that now you can much more easily own prints from me without having to deal with my terrible packaging skills!!! I’ve ordered from inprnt before and their prints are always high quality and super well packaged! I have almost all of my art on there, but if there’s anything else you’d like a print of, let me know! Most of them are sized at 8x12 for 15$ and 12x18 for 20$. Thank you all for your support and just shoot me an ask/message if you have any questions!!!
