14 Facts About Wal-Mart That Will Blow Your Mind:
Rember discount book clubs? I love this snippet from Retail Week. They weren't to know that Amazon would be incorporated just 1 year later.
Not many retailers get to do such an aggressive price comparison against these three. Spotted at an airport electronics store.
Interest that in this H&M store the ‘keep’ decision has been moved to AFTER the purchase. Offline mimicking online?
Do customers in a busy, lunchtime Tesco local care that there is a "New Products" aisle? If they have a new type of sandwich, I'd expect to see it with the other, erm, sandwiches... Worth noting, none of the products in this aisle looked remotely new or different than you'd find in the "last aisle before the till" of any Tesco local.
Very nice clean and clear messaging at Sainsbury's.
This M&S only sells food. Can I get clothes or other items delivered here? This well placed sign would have been the perfect opportunity to let me know but I'm still none the wiser...
I was very sorry to see the Wickes “local” format store close in Tunbridge Wells. I thought that they might have had something here.
That said, I thought they missed a trick by not offering a proper, assisted web experience. Wouldn’t it have been more exciting if they’d had staffed it with silver surfer DIY experts, giving customers expert advice whilst leveraging the full online range. They could have also ran live Youtube demos and tool reviews from the store, generating interest, footfall and customers.
Although the papers on the windows it still says Wickes above the door.
So who knows?
Laithwaite's sending two mailings to the same address with the same surname on the same day. One was free delivery, and a slightly larger catalogue for my wife as a new customer (1st order in the last 3 months) second was slimmer catalogue, and 2x£20 voucher to re-activate me as I've not ordered in the last 12months (original order was one off, half price deal) Given that Laithwaite's are not newcomers to direct mail, I wonder if they've got this expensively wrong or do they know something we don't?
Interesting that Sainsburys seem to pitching in store experience over price. All the other big supermarkets are going in lower or with double the difference type promos. Sainsburys seems to be saying that if the price were the same, where would you rather shop.
Really poor sizing information here from H&M. I think some of the numbers might be size or possibly age.
Massive push on in-store wifi by Argos. Would be interested to find out what the thought was behind making it so prominent at the point of entry?
Very simple but impactful window at Tunbridge Wells M&S
New magazine advertised prominently on Topshop window. No QR code link to download the app though. Oversight or planned?
I really liked these hanger tags as used by Joules Clothing. It made the new lines stand out whilst there was still a lot of sale in the shop.
Smart and simple shelf talkers by Clarks. Highlighting one of the benefits of shopping online.
