After a few mornings like this, it’s time to consider nighttime protection. Going back into nappies is never easy in fact most adults find it humiliating, but freedom from pee soaked bedding and nightwear is a big plus.

If your washing machine gets an early morning job you’re not alone. The number of guys who wake up to find they had a wetting accident while they were asleep is a lot higher than you might expect. For most it’s an occasional occurrence however embarrassing. Perhaps you were overtired, had alcohol or a lot of fluids in the evening or your sleep pattern changed for some reason. Adult bedwetting stays a secret, one of those things we don’t talk about and never admit.

Adult bedwetting is not often talked about. It’s not something many people want to admit but it’s more common than we think. It’s something I’ve always lived with so I guess I’m more sensitised to it, but mostly it’s a well kept secret. Even if it’s not every night like mine, lots of adults have occasional accidents, sometimes due to fatigue, alcohol, medication or just as a random occurrence. One of the reasons I value the abdl community is that discussions about nighttime incontinence are much more open.

What was it like growing up a bedwetter?

Not a great experience. Up till about 6 or 7 it just seemed normal but when I realised other kids were dry at night the embarrassment and shame crept in. Teenage years were the most challenging and I was always very conscious about being different and desperate to keep it secret.

My new Protech Dry briefs. I’m trying them out for daytime leaks and dribbles. I’ve been wearing Tena pull-ups a bit recently as my bladder hasn’t been great during the day. Let’s see how they hold up. The big test will be if I don’t make it to the bathroom in time and flood.

What was it like growing up as a bedwetter? You mentioned in a post that people would ask your parents if you were still in diapers like you weren’t there. What was that like and what was the oldest that that happened?

It wasn’t easy. I was embarrassed and ashamed about it so tried to hide it. Unfortunately quite a few of my extended family and my parents friends knew about it. That included all my cousins. That’s why it was discussed and I remember people asking my parents if I still wet at night and if I still wore nappies until my mid teens
