In which Yandere! Hiori Yo wakes up one day to find game interfaces appearing before him, and he uses them to win you over—albeit through questionable means. But that’s okay, right? You find him kind of cute.
Warnings: gender-neutral reader; stalker Hiori (act surprised, everyone); emotional manipulation; yandere behavior (in case the Yandere! Hiori Yo in the synopsis wasn't enough); both the reader and Hiori are of legal age (final year of high school); he wants to see your brain; slightly suggestive, but without adult content; toxic and controlling relationship; his first name is Yo, but I’m going to refer to him as Hiori in the narrative.

Part 2
Hiori Yo didn't usually care much about what was happening around him, more concerned with getting home and leveling up in his games than with forging connections with people. Staying in his room, in front of a screen, was much easier.
Hiori Yo visits a local café one day and spots you at a table, typing rapidly on your laptop. A quick glance reveals that you are programming a visual novel.
Hiori Yo feels his curiosity piqued when he realizes you are his age and attend the high school next to his.
Hiori Yo starts leaving the house more often just to see you at that table, programming your romance game. But unfortunately, this change in routine lasts only two weeks, because one day, you stop showing up.
Hiori Yo takes advantage of knowing your school and its location to see you again. It is simply to ensure you are okay; do not expect any interaction—after all, he doesn't want you to know.
Hiori Yo wonders to himself if what he is doing is wrong, but he brushes aside that heavy feeling, telling himself he isn't hurting anyone.
Hiori Yo can’t help but notice how different you are outside the café. Your posture is hunched; people walk past you as if you were a mere shadow. A girl accidentally bumps into you and doesn’t even apologize, getting pulled along by her friend instead. You stumble on the sidewalk and nearly fall. The blazer tied around your waist slips, and you trip once more.
Hiori Yo almost laughs.
Hiori made sure to move with slow, silent steps, occasionally hearing the sound of a leaf crunching underfoot. He wore a black cap, sunglasses, and a mask he had found at the back of a drawer, one that, unfortunately, was irritating a pimple on his chin.
Meanwhile, you were trying to balance your stuffed bag, the blazer that kept slipping down, and a shoelace that had come undone; you looked like a penguin on dry land. Hiori watched as you sat on a nearby park bench to tie your sneakers, adjust your bag’s strap, and drape your blazer over your shoulders like a cape instead of tying it around your waist.
Hiori found you so adorable that he couldn't help but take a picture.
You weren't at your best—far from it, actually—but you seemed more human, less like that repetitive figure he saw at the café. And he should have stopped there, he swears, but you looked so photogenic when beams of late-afternoon sunlight enveloped you along the way, making him focus his phone’s camera on you once more. It was as if you were bathed in gold, and it made him hold his breath for a moment.
Click.
He immortalized you twice in his phone’s gallery, and twice more when he printed the photos at home.
Hiori Yo, who, upon seeing a shooting star through the window that night, decides, just for a laugh, to make a wish: that his life be like a game.
Hiori Yo wakes up the next day to a glowing blue interface in front of him, asking him to register his name in the system. The screen not only floated but was also translucent, and it would display small glitches if he touched an area that wasn't a button.
Hiori Yo realizes that the shooting star has granted his wish and that he now has an entire system at his fingertips. He can monitor heart rates, vitamin levels, school grades that teachers have recorded but not yet posted, and the addresses of every citizen in Kyoto—along with a vast array of other information he didn't have time to explore, lest he be late for school.
Hiori Yo takes the opportunity—right in the middle of class, while the others are distracted by their own conversations—to poke around in the places he hadn't managed to explore yet. Oh, and his eyes, once dull, light up with interest when he spots a camera icon.
Hiori Yo realizes he can access the phone's gallery through that screen. Random screenshots he’d never actually use, payment receipts, that game he’d found interesting in a shop window but hadn't had the money to buy yet… and you.
Hiori’s fingers waver before hesitantly tapping the icon of the photo where the sun’s rays bathed you on the way home. You looked so silly with that blazer draped over your shoulders, and Hiori couldn't help but wonder what it would be like if, instead, it were his gakuran enveloping you. If, rather than worrying about that heavy bag, he were the one holding it in one hand while the other pulled you closer.
What were you like up close?
How did you speak?
How did you smile?
How did you cry?
In any case, those questions fell silent as soon as he saw the magnifying glass icon in the corner of the photo. Shrugging, Hiori clicked on it.
Hiori Yo freezes completely when he discovers he can pull up the data of everyone he has a photo of, meaning he has your information. After that, he clicks every possible button, falling down a rabbit hole that reveals everything from basic details to secrets you never wanted anyone to know.
Now what? Hiori Yo knows everything.
Hiori Yo quickly realizes that he can access his own information too, and that he can change many details about himself: place of residence, eye color, hair color, height, his room —as if he were inside The Sims, with a screen that let him add or remove walls whenever he wanted. He himself had become customizable. But you know what? The detail that stood out the most was the option to change schools.
After all, you were feeling lonely, weren't you?
And wow, that system was great!
As soon as Hiori transferred from his school to yours, his parents didn't even bat an eye, as if they’d been completely brainwashed—which was actually the case. He took the same route he used to take when stalking you after class; the only difference was that now he was heading there as a student.
The gates were different, as were the faces, the bike racks, and, of course, you. He kept a safe distance when he saw you pass through the gates, but he dared to get a little closer, close enough to notice your book nearly slipping out of your bag.
He was so used to blending into the shadows that all eyes were on him only when he introduced himself to the class at the teacher's request. Cyan hair matching his eyes, delicate features, tall and, above all, a nerd. He didn't even try to hide it; his bag was covered in keychains and pins from various game franchises.
He walked calmly to the back of the room and sat at the only empty desk behind you, right by the window. As he passed by, your eyes widened at the fresh, floral scent, and you almost asked for the name of the perfume. But it would have been really strange to ask a guy who had just arrived, and the teacher was already filling the board.
Taking a deep breath, you tried to refocus, only to hear a faint spritzing sound behind you. You glanced discreetly over your shoulder and caught your new classmate spraying more of that same perfume you had smelled.
Now you had the name of the perfume!
Hiori Yo finds it amusing when the system notifies him that you like his perfume, and he takes advantage of the situation. Now, he applies twice as much before heading to school, knowing you get flustered whenever he sits behind you.
Hiori Yo discovers, via the system, where you are publishing your visual novel. A week later, he sees that you’ve added a character who looks just like him; he finds it so entertaining that he can’t stop smiling as he stares at the screen.
Yandere! Hiori Yo, who becomes obsessed with knowing everything you want and tries to make the most of that.
You wonder if you’ve ended up on a hidden-camera prank show.
At first, when Hiori Yo was introduced to the class, you saw him as nothing more than a pretty face. Someone who wore great perfume. A nerd like you—only he didn't hide his interests the way you did. In short, a source of inspiration for your dating sim.
He didn't need to know that, though. Plenty of creators base characters on real people, but, aside from the fact that you barely exchanged more than a simple "good morning", he might get the wrong idea if he saw the game's premise.
But seriously, how did he know you so well if you barely talked?!
He guessed your favorite color during a social gathering organized by a teacher. He shared his bento with you, and the food happened to be exactly what you’d been craving the day before. He "accidentally" bought two of your favorite drink from the vending machine and gave you one. He gave you a pen with a pom-pom on the end, the kind you never quite found the time to buy yourself. And whenever you asked how he knew, he’d just say, "I don't know, it just felt right."
Talk about spot-on.
"You should play the lottery or something," you joked, resting your face in your palm.
"I don't think that would work," Hiori dismissed. "I'm not as lucky as I look."
The teacher was absent, so the students used the free time to catch up, play on their phones, or study for upcoming exams. Naturally, Hiori spent the time playing a few rounds on his phone, only to find you peeking at his screen.
"You got two super rare characters in a single ten-pull; how is that not luck?" You huffed. "I wish I had that kind of luck."
He finished leveling up his characters before turning off the screen and setting his phone aside, resting his face in his palm just as you were doing. After long days, you finally seemed more comfortable around him; the crystal floating above your head was glowing a vibrant yellow.
You were in a friendly mood.
Hiori thought he could pull the strings a little more.
“Why? I think you’re quite lucky, [Last Name].” Hiori gave a friendly little smile. “But sometimes you worry so much that you don’t realize it.”
“Realize my luck?”
“Yeah.”
“But Hiori, you don’t understand,” you pouted. “You’re the first person who’s actually spoken to me throughout my entire time in high school!”
“Isn’t that a good thing?” You shivered slightly as you felt Hiori’s index finger tracing the outline of your other hand, which was resting on the desk. “I can take care of you now.”
It was so… intimate.
It wasn’t anything major, yet you felt your heart racing and worried he might notice. But instead of focusing on your reaction, Hiori kept tracing your hand, noting how warm your skin was compared to his.
So full of life.
“Is everything okay?” Hiori gave you a concerned look, suppressing a smile as he watched the crystal above your head slowly change color. “You seem distracted.”
Yandere! Hiori Yo, who discovers a new pastime after that day: teasing you—just enough to watch you struggle to see him as only a friend. It’s always a sight to behold, watching that yellow crystal get bombarded by pink-hued attacks.
Yandere! Hiori Yo, who believes that the harder the chase, the more satisfying it will be when you finally fall for him. Sometimes he can’t even sleep, imagining you standing beneath the cherry blossom tree, confessing your feelings to him.
Yandere! Hiori Yo, who becomes increasingly obsessed with you whenever he remembers that you want to pursue a career in game production after graduation. He already views game producers as geniuses and saviors—but when it comes to you? He wants to crack your skull open and kiss your brain.
Yandere! Hiori Yo, who has a habit of checking up on you in the system whenever he's alone.
Yandere! Hiori Yo, who has to stifle a squeal of delight when he sees your pink crystal.
Damn, finally.
In the midst of it all, you were a poor, lost sheep.
Darling, the moment Hiori realized you liked him, he made sure to shower you with as much attention as possible, without ever seeming desperate. He wasn't a fool; he knew about that annoying neighbor who’d had a crush on you since childhood, or that classmate who got shy whenever you walked by.
In other words, just because you liked him didn't mean those feelings couldn't change. The bottom line: he’s going to try to make you just as obsessed with him as he is with you!
So, he’ll bind you to him with subtle compliments, lingering touches, and by fulfilling the desires you never voice aloud—but which he knows about anyway.
Because Hiori knows exactly what you want.
And you have no idea how he takes advantage of that.
Even the moment he kisses you for the first time is exactly when you wanted it, when you felt the mood shift. And if the moment felt right to you, it did to Hiori, too.
The two of you alone in the classroom, responsible for cleaning up after school hours. A broom here, a cloth there, and an hour later, golden hour rays illuminated the room. They lit you up just like in that photo Hiori took months ago.
And then you finished putting the last desk in place, feeling a wave of exhaustion wash over you, leaving your body limp and your thoughts a bit hazy with the longing to go home. But more than that, you wanted nothing more than to be in one of those shoujo manga you used to read, because Hiori looked ethereal, the golden light illuminating his cyan hair like a sunset at the beach.
If you could wish for anything in that moment, it would be a kiss from him.
Imagine your surprise when he stopped staring into the void—what was he looking at so intently?—and looked at you. Not just into your eyes, but into your soul, as if he were reading every single one of your thoughts.
And he walked to the back of the room, just like on his first day, with the same scent and calm expression.
But his pupils? They were so dilated that you thought they might consume you.
"[Name]."
Oh, right, you two were on a first-name basis now. It wasn’t a drastic change, but for someone who harbored feelings for him, hearing him say your name like that, while you were longing for his mouth on yours, felt awkward. It made you feel like a terrible friend.
You put the dustpan and broom away in the locker, muttering a "what?" in response to his call. However, the moment the metal door clicked softly shut, you held your breath as a shadow fell over you and a hand pressed against the locker, pinning you in place.
Hiori brought his face close to yours; you saw your life flash before your wide eyes as the reality of the situation hit you full force. Your back was pressed against the locker, his chest nearly touching yours.
"Can I try something?" His other hand tilted your chin up, his breath mingling with yours. "Only if you let me."
As if he didn't already know.
He found it so cute the way you shrank back slightly, hands held close to your chest, without making any move to push him away. A mere, gentle nod from you was all it took for his lips to meet yours.
But Hiori didn't just press in—far from it; he tilted his face just enough for his lips to fit perfectly against yours. The hand resting on the locker behind you wandered to the back of your head, and he used his height to gently press you against the metal surface.
You gasped for air after a moment, sending shivers all over Hiori and causing the hand behind your head to tighten its grip on your hair. But he didn't pull away, not when the two of you fit together so perfectly, like puzzle pieces. Not when the sunlight streaming through the window made everything feel warmer.
"Can I try a few more things?" Hiori’s kisses spread across your face before trailing down from your jawline to your neck. "Please," he pleaded in a low voice.
His hand loosened its hold on your head, allowing you to offer him easier access to your neck. And you did, taking the chance to fill your lungs with air now that he had given you room to breathe—busy as he was showering you with kisses. Soft ones. Lingering on every spot. Exploring exactly what made your body go limp against his.
"Mm," you sighed contentedly, deciding to try something yourself by running a hand through his hair and pulling him closer.
You didn't even know exactly what you were doing, but you didn't want to leave Hiori to do it all on his own. Not that he seemed to mind taking charge of the moment; instead, he welcomed your initiative, encouraging you with a lingering kiss on your collarbone, right over your white shirt.
"I think I need to test this out a bit more…"
That was the instant you felt his fingernails scraping and digging into the back of your neck, hard enough to leave marks. It scared the hell out of you, causing you to instinctively kick him right between the legs.
Only the two of you know just how many apologies you stammered out that afternoon afterward.
Yandere boyfriend! Hiori Yo believes that the moment he earned the title of "your boyfriend," he gained the right to control every aspect of you.
Yandere boyfriend! Hiori Yo finds himself falling deeper and deeper for you after entering a relationship. The system only exacerbates this unhealthy obsession by handing him all that information on a silver platter. He knows where you are, what you’re thinking, and who you’re talking to besides him—it’s rare, but he feels thorns growing in his throat every single time.
Yandere boyfriend! Hiori Yo becomes an expert on you and feels a perverse pleasure in knowing he understands you better than anyone else in your life. And since he’s the only one who knows you so well, why do you still insist on saying you want to meet other people? Are you stupid? Just look at him!
Yandere boyfriend! Hiori Yo, who didn't hold you quite so gently after you mentioned going to that neighbor's birthday party. Hiori’s arms felt like iron chains, and at no point did he let you see his blank expression.
Yandere boyfriend! Hiori Yo, who used the system to change the addresses of people trying to get close to you, sending them off to distant cities. Whenever that happened, he’d pull you into "spontaneous celebrations", which amounted to him showing up at your house with a cake from the very same café where he’d first met you.
Yandere boyfriend! Hiori Yo supports you when you talk about making games, and he finds it endearing how you shyly look away when mentioning that you created a character inspired by him. You are so happy about his support that you throw yourself into his arms, unaware that he already knew all of this before you even met him for the first time.
Yandere boyfriend! Hiori Yo realizes you’ll never reach the same level of obsession that he has. The absurd number of photos of you, the possessive grip on your shoulders whenever he drapes his gakuran over you—just as he’d always wanted—, and the constant monitoring of what you’re doing.
Yandere boyfriend! Hiori Yo loves projecting the image of the perfect boyfriend, all while knowing he is the worst kind of person to have caught the attention of.
He isn’t just the new classmate who became your boyfriend; he is a sadist who is devouring your freedom without you even realizing it.
A/N: Goodness, I almost died writing the kiss! I hope it didn't turn out too badly 🥀 (but the reader kicking Hiori was intentional for the sake of the break lmaoo)
never in his life would he have thought to be that way. none of his friends, colleagues, or people who glance at him on the street would say that—no one can see hiori as being the greedy kind. no one.
never in his life did he have anything to be greedy for. everything he could ever have wanted was stripped away from him, for the sake of being number one.
in his life, his childhood, it was all blind obedience.
sure, he could have tiny, selfish impulses, but they were all cast away as unattainable anyways.
the only time he allowed himself to really want something, to be selfish, was when he wanted you. your love, your touch, your care, your smile.
he whispers it in his sleep, he tries to put as much of it in his kiss to replace his failed words, he tries to beam it to your head whenever your foreheads touch and whenever your voice hits his eardrums.
the two of you lay in his bed, another quiet night of just each other. another time of just soaking in the other's presence, soft music from hiori's favorite ost's playing in the background.
suddenly, he feels it all at once. he swear he isn't the type to get swayed by his emotions often—but not often does he think that life is perfect like this.
the gentle breeze through his open window, caressing his skin where it was wrapped around yours.
the sound of your exhale, the indication of your heart beating right next to his own.
the way the familiar music seems to make every single moment of this even more special, even more prized.
it almost seemed impossible that this was really his life. it didn't seem possible that it all his years of living, breathing, of wishing he wasn't living or breathing led up to this moment.
hiori chokes on his spit, tears threatening to fall from his eyes. they do, tiny streaks from the corner that gently darken the bedsheets.
"yo-chan?" you whisper, alarmed. but he shakes his head at you. don't worry, my lovely.
"sorry…" he smiles out, voice wavering with his tears. "i just…"
he didn't know how to process his emotions right now, how to put them into tangible words that you can grapple onto and feel the same as he's feeling. he didn't believe that life could really be this beautiful now that you're by his side. he didn't believe in anything anymore, just the presence of you next to him, a light in his darkness.
the tears start streaming down his face, not caring for the efforts hiori tried to prevent them. you panic a bit more, reaching over to touch your hands to his delicate face, wiping away his tears.
"don't cry…" you softly mutter, concerned.
he brings his hands to his face, holding onto your hands and stopping them from moving any further. you freeze—partly because he asked you to, partly because of the momentary shock of how cold his fingers were.
"y/n…" he mumbles through the new wave of tears about to glisten his cheek.
"i love you."
you blink, surprised at his teary confession. of course, it was already established, but this time—the way his hands shook as it grappled onto yours, the sweet way he was crying, the intonation of his voice—it made this one "i love you" seem more meaningful than any other ones that came out of his honest mouth.
you smile, relaxing your hands and dropping them, leaning in closer to hiori so that he can soak up your body warmth.
"i love you too."
hiori might be greedy after all, since he has your endless love.
