It was better than mincing words and saying what was unnecessary. At least he thought of it that way. Yeah, that pushed people away… but in some ways it was better than dealing with them. But there was always something in Yellow that…. was a little bit unsettling, since he lacked the right words to use here. 

How she seemed to always be there and acting in a similar way to him, if not worse? Silver had taught himself to never show what he was feeling to anyone else, but recently it was really easy to drag him out of his shell and leave that hateful part of him exposed. The trained in front of him had that ability, too. 

He was happier when people left him in his comfort zone. He could throw stones at them and hurt them with his tongue without risking letting himself be shown. As for her question…

- “…Busy.”

…. It was better to not answer it. They were things that mattered only to him, after all! (That never really fooled anyone, did it?) His angry expression softened if only for a moment, trying to look like she needn’t be concerned about him.

- “You’ve disappeared, too. Where have you been?”

Smoothly dodging the subject here.

"Lots of places, actually! For a while I was at a highschool, and then I was at some dream place where I was a mage or something. The memories are really hazy though- the clearest of them is the circus." Probably because she'd been there the longest, honestly.

"Still, I remember waking up back home after everything. I ended up just going back to protecting the forest- after making sure everything was ok. I think I caught wind of someone impersonating me though...?" Petrel needs to stop scaring Lance with her face, the ass.

"I guess you could say a lot has happened!"

If there was one thing the blonde girl could never forget, it was that Silver wasn't much of a talker. He didn't bother with the unnecessary and always went straight to the heart of the matter. Blunt was the word, she believed. Yellow was similarly blunt, but not in the same way he was. He had this kind of cold, distant air around him, while she had always been told she seemed kind and welcoming. When she'd first met Silver, she understood what people meant by that. Her view of him now was somewhat different- he wasn't cold, but he was a bit distant. He just had a bunch of rough patches in his life. But that's irrelevant, she thinks to herself as she snaps back into reality and holds out her hand. All that matters is that she gets to see her friend again!

"How have you been doing? And where've you been?" We haven't seen you in a while!

Yellow's Limit Break

It’s generally accepted that this is what is in Yellow’s arsenal of Viridian-blessed powers: healing, mind/heart-reading, minor telekinesis, and, as TVtropes calls it, Super Empowering, AKA holy-shit-how-did-her-Pokemon-jump-up-like-fifty-levels. However, re-reading the Yellow arc made me realize that she may have yet another power. At the climax of her arc, Lance planned to control Lugia with the energy released by the giant badge amplifier. Pika, then Yellow, realized that the only way to stop him was to blow the energy away with a bigger burst of energy. The Kanto starters fired their attacks up the String Shot that fell to the ground and was attached to Yellow’s arm. Looking at the two-page spread that features her final attack on Lance, it appears that Yellow somehow absorbed their attacks right into her hand to power up Pika’s Megavolt and some kind of laser shot from her pointer finger. After that, the badge energy meant to control Lugia was converted into healing energy, which Lugia then directed onto the Kanto mainland, resulting in a wasteland devastated by pollution transforming into a lush field. In short, Yellow can absorb and convert massive amounts of energy to greatly amplify the effects of her other powers. Hot damn. Yellow has literal near god-like potential. Thank whoever is up there that she’s one of the nicest characters in the series.

That’s actually a pretty good theory.

I’m kinda glad that the Viridian powers were kind of left alone after this particular chapter (except for the healing part). As useful as those powers are, they can be troublesome to Yellow and then the costs really outweigh the benefit of her powers.

Besides, overusing her powers is a bit of an overkill.
