Brand new convert prays for sick and they are healed!
This testimony is from Revive Westfield. There is a fire burning in Westfield, the first of the 19 additional stars!
Our team of four were assigned to the Fishers area on Saturday the 8th. Not seeing any opportunity where we were, we thought of going to Union Park which was nearby.
There, we ran across a few people at first, then stopped to talk to a man that said he was an atheist. We were able to share with him. While talking we didn’t debate the intellectual arguments but just listened and tried to communicate the reality of Jesus. It came out that he was raised in a church but never had any connection with God, that it was all one sided. He finally gave up on believing there was a God. Wendy was able to share a similar experience in which her relationship was all one sided, until she heard God speak to her. She told him we would pray for God to reveal Himself to him also. Also she shared that before we left, the Lord showed her a picture of Mickey Mouse. The man had a Mickey Mouse t-shirt on. Just being able to listen and not try to argue, we think, resulted in him relaxing and all of us being able to enjoy talking. He didn’t get saved, but we feel it was profitable as good seed was planted. We are praying that God will speak to him and show him that He is real.
After this, one team member who is 13 talked with one of the Moms in the play area and interacted with her toddler. She was able to then share some out of the Bible with the Mom.
We then felt like we needed to go talk with a group of high school/ college age guys playing volleyball in another area of the park. We walked over and introduced ourselves and started talking about volleyball. Then we explained that we were in the park going around and talking to people about Jesus and going to Heaven. We then asked them the question, “If you died today, are you 100% sure that you would go to Heaven?”. Three of them responded that they would, and one responded that he didn’t know. We then asked, “If you were standing in front of God, and He asked you ‘why should I let you into Heaven’, in other words what do you think will get a person in, what would you tell Him?”. Three them responded “because I asked Jesus to be my Lord and Saviour”. The other one responded basically that he tried to do the right things. I asked him if I could show him from the Bible how he could know for sure if he would be interested. He answered yes, so we took him through the Bible.
After finishing, we asked him if he would like to receive God’s free gift of eternal life. He said yes, so we had him pray to ask Jesus to forgive him and come into his life. Then we asked all of them if any of them had any pain anywhere in their body. The one next to the one that just prayed said his shoulder hurt and started moving it around and said he could feel it popping.
So, we had the one who just got saved to go over and put his hand on his friends shoulder. I told him that we were going to show him that Jesus is in him now. I told him to pray, “Jesus, heal my friend. Amen.” He repeated after me then took his hand away. Then I told his friend to move his arm and tell us if it still hurt or not. He started moving it and was surprised and started saying how it was a lot better and he wasn’t joking. So we showed them from the Bible the verses out of Mark 16 where it says these signs shall follow them that believe and that the “Lord worked with them confirming the Word with accompanying signs”, and that Jesus had done that to show them that the Bible was true and that what we told them was true. They were all surprised at what happened. He was still moving his arm around and we asked if it was all the way better or if there was still any pain left. He said it was a lot better but there was still some pain. So we said we’ll just pray again for it. We had the one the just got saved lay hands on him again and repeat the same simple prayer, “Jesus, heal my friend. Amen”. Then he moved his arm around and said the pain was all the way gone!
We were starting to leave, but felt the Holy Spirit nudging that we needed to go back. They switched teams and now there was a different group sitting on the benches. We went over and asked if there was anyone else who wasn’t sure if they died today that they would go to Heaven and wanted to know for sure. The young man standing next to me asked if I could tell him that he could know for sure. I told him I couldn’t, but the Bible would tell him how he could. He said he had a few minutes so we took him through the Bible verses. We then asked him if he would like to make Jesus his Lord and receive His gift of eternal life. He said yes, so we then helped him to pray and ask Jesus into his life. As we talked afterward, he said he felt like weight was lifted off his shoulders.
It’s so easy out there. Jesus will do the signs to show them He is alive and real and that He loves them and is the way to Heaven. He is out there already, reaching out to the lost. All we have to do is go out where He is and do what He told us to do and He will do His part. He told us to share the Gospel and pray for the sick. We just do it and He does the rest. If someone who just gets saved can do this, so can we. Because, we don’t do anything! It’s all Jesus! Just go out and do what He said. He will save and heal. Just do it. If they aren’t healed the first time, just pray again. He will do it! That will open up the door to really share with them because He has gotten their attention now.
