Amira shook Lex’s hand, eyebrows raising almost to her hairline at how forward Lex was being. She recognized the name, even though she’d only been in town for a week, and that usually meant she was very good to know, or very bad. Judging by the way her name was spoken, Amira was almost certain it was the latter. But she’d never been someone to judge a person based on other people’s opinions, so she smiled at Lex’s joke, though it wasn’t quite as wide as it had been before. “I guess we better get to it. After all, we wouldn’t want it to be too late when we order Thai. Gotta beat the rush.”
Without waiting for Lex’s response, Amira strode out the door, a grin playing at her lips. It had honestly been a while since anyone had hit the nexus of charm, snark, and attractiveness and there couldn’t be that much harm in it. After all, they were fully grown adults, and they had self-control. It only took a few more trips back and forth before all the boxes were settled in the apartment, and the trailer was locked and ready to be picked up in the morning.
“I definitely need to shower, but feel free to help yourself to whatever’s in the fridge and call that Thai place if you want. I’ll eat anything with noodles, love spice, and no allergies. Prefer chicken or tofu as the protein but honestly not that picky at all,” she tossed over her shoulder. Maybe she should have been more cautious about letting a virtual stranger wander around her apartment while she was naked in the bathroom but the thought didn’t even cross her mind. The shower was quick, but needed, and Amira padded back out into the living room with damp hair, and wearing a wife beater, flannel pants, and a pair of turquoise blue fluffy socks peeking out underneath. “Good, you haven’t robbed me blind yet,” she teased as she pulled a beer from the fridge.
The ‘we’ wasn’t lost on her, and she made it known that it wasn’t with a slight twitch of her eyebrow upward. They were getting somewhere, then. It didn’t matter where, as long as they were progress. And Amira’s attitude was interesting, at least, very unlike her sister. The trips back and forth with the boxes gave way to a little bit of small talk, but nothing completely earth-shattering, and Lex found herself even more attracted to her with the short amount of time stretching between them.
It helped that Amira walked in front of her for most of it, too.
Another eyebrow raise was Lex’s answer to the showering, but maybe it meant they were getting somewhere. So she called the Thai place, ordered more than enough food for the both of them-- maybe a little extra for Amira to keep after they were done, and did her very best to not dig in any of the boxes. She did however, wander around a bit while the shower was running, glancing at what little stuff was set up. There was nothing to glean about her, yet, it seemed, but --- honestly, it didn’t matter, really.
She could guess some things if she really wanted to try, but it was better left unexplored for now. After all, this was supposed to be fun. Getting to know one another on even territory and whatnot. She heard the water stop, and sat down on the couch, one leg over the other. Her gaze followed Amira the entire way to the kitchen and back, unashamed of her attraction and interest. “I thought about it, but it would be such a hassle to do with all of your valuables locked away with cardboard and tape.” Lex laughed and shrugged, “The food should be here in about five minutes or so.” She paused, sinking down more comfortably into the seat, the ache in her joints already settling and increasing after the movement. “What brings you to Aurora?”
