I cry all the time. I cry in my bedroom, in the bathroom, in the hallway, in the elevator. This morning I woke up crying.

Roxanne wasn’t sure why they needed to speak in private but she didn’t argue. She stepped aside and closed the door behind her. Roxie had her arms crossed over her chest as she studied him. Her heart just about sank when he finally revealed the reason for his unexpected visit. “W-what?” She barely managed to choke out. “Are they even investigating it or is this just a way to get me out of the ministry?”
His heart was breaking for her. Roxanne wasn’t really family but to him, he saw her as such. Harry and him had tried to reason with everyone they could but were just told that it needed to be done. Roxanne didn’t deserve this and he knew that. Mason wanted to reach out and put a hand on her shoulder to show any form of comfort that he could. He sighed and looked down for a moment, shaking his head, “They say that they are but aren’t sure. Harry and I haven’t been told much but we personally are looking into it.”

No worries at all,” Evangeline said, smiling wide. “I’d be a terrible shop owner if I growled at those who came for my business.” She set the writing aside and leaned forward on her elbows. She generally assumed that those who came in were looking for books, as Wicca was even less prominent in the wix community than in the Muggle community. Baffling, she thought, but true. “Of course. How can I help?”
Molly quickly smiled when the other smiled at her. A sense of relief washed over despite having figured the other wouldn’t mind if she asked her something but she never liked to interrupt. She looked around the shop one last moment before glancing back at her, “I have a friend who is very open about her being.. Wiccan? Is that how you say it? Please correct me if I’m wrong. Her birthday is coming up and I really wanted to surprise her with something but I wasn’t sure what.”
She hadn’t expected to see Roxanne so soon but she had and despite the attempts to push her away the other just seemed to push back just as hard. She didn’t want company because she knew she was close to finding the person who killed her mother. She didn’t like the person who she was becoming but she wasn’t going to rest until she found him. She opened the door to her apartment to see him while behind her was a mess of paperwork scattered about. She held the door close to her to minimize what he could see. “Hey. Did you need something?”

Molly had given Lucy a key to her house because she didn’t mind if her sister just let herself in but the girl had been so into the movie she was watching that she didn’t hear her. “I swear, you just keep getting quieter and quieter.” She laughed.

It was the middle of the day on a Tuesday–aka, the stores was empty and quite. Evangeline really didn’t have high expectation for customers during this hour at The Mind’s Eye (a combination Wicca and book shop). She decided to work on a new prayer, one that dealt with summer harvest now that the season was quickly approaching. She could write it up and start selling it by the the spring was ready to close. She’d been so focused on getting the prayer just right that she hadn’t realized someone had walked up to her.
Molly knew her briefly from school but they never really spoke. She had met a girl at one of her charity events who was also Wiccan and her birthday was coming up. She wanted to get her something special but she didn’t know what. She figured this may be the best place to come to. Molly didn’t want to interrupt her but it was too late. “Sorry, I didn’t mean to bother you... I just had a quick question and was hoping you could help me.”

Roxie got up quickly when she heard the door. She figured maybe Halcyon forgot his keys but then she saw Mason. She had a smile on her face up until she noticed how upset he seemed. “What’s wrong?” She worried because he wasn’t always this serious with her. “Did something happen?”
“Unfortunately. Can we talk inside?” Mason knew he didn’t need to ask but it was force of habit as he made his way inside. He turned around to look at her, “Roxie.. before I start-- just know that I am on your side, okay? I will work very hard to find out who the real threat is here but..” He didn’t want to drag this out any longer, “You’ve been put on leave. There was a reported wolf attack the last full moon and someone called in and filed against you.”

Mason paused, “Well... no but.. that doesn’t mean that something isn’t on your mind.”

Mason felt like his heart was going to jump out of his chest. He knew this was wrong but he preferred it to be him rather than someone else. He could help, he could help fix this all if it’s on him. Mason knocked on her door a couple of times and then stepped back. A million things were going through his mind in that moment while he waited for her to open the door.

He let out a sigh as he was well aware they were going to bring it up. “It was a busy year. I have no excuse.” He started before they could.
“Truthfully, I’m not asking for an excuse.” James informed his friend as he pushed himself off the wall and walked over to take a seat in front of him. “I’m not asking you to explain anything. I remember Hogwarts and I remember seeing some Professors stay until the late of night grading. I just worried about you, mate. That’s all. Do you like your new job though?”
