It had been a rather slow day, so Halcyon had ducked out to the back real quick to take out the trash–that way he wouldn’t have to do it later. Of course, though, as to be expected, the one time you leave is the one time you shouldn’t. When Halcyon reentered the bar someone was there, waiting to be served. Luckily, Halcyon immediately recognized the form and didn’t feel bad. He already started to smirk, and his posture became straighter. “Danielle,” he said softly, and then made his way behind the bar. His smile only grew with her words. He leaned forward, elbows on the bar, and made direct eye contact with the girl. “That would be very disappointin’ fer both of us, wouldn’t it?”
She had to take a deep breath to calm her heart considering it felt like it was beating a mile a minute. She then laughed as she adjusted herself in her seat. Dani’s lips parted to speak and respond to that but nothing came out, she then pressed her lips into a thin line with a smile still on her face. He always had this way of making her feel flustered and shy. She knew she should say something by now, anything. She glanced around the bar and then back at him, “Slow day?”
“See, I had this firm belief that if you were up all night helping people you should get a pass on taking responsibility for any resulting collisions”. Louis chuckled slightly, shaking his head. “You need to sleep from the sound of it. Me? Yeah, just- I tried to brave the train home from visiting family in France. I figured I took the Hogwarts Express for seven years, I should be an expert by now! I was wrong, missed my train and dinner so I figured I’d just down enough caffeine to get me through until an acceptable time to go to sleep.”
“Oh no, I’m not a healer. I’m the welcome witch at St. Mungos. I try to help the healers out as much as I can but I’m not really too helpful most of the time.” She confessed. Filling out paperwork and helping patients keep their calm wasn’t really much considering all they had to deal with. “It’s been very busy with everything going on but you’re probably right because I am now rambling and that must mean I’m extra tired.” She laughed, “Oof, that is rough. Trains aren’t as fun as one may think. Oh! I am also so sorry, I’m Dani. I’m honestly not usually this weird or scattered brained. I promise.”
Dani walked into her flat and closed the door behind her slowly. She knew it was late and she knew that Tobias was probably just trying to sleep. She saw how stressed he had been the past few days with working overtime at the hospital. Dani then jumped when she heard his voice and turned around to see him sitting at the table eating. Dani arched a brow, “Did you just get home from work?”
Walking around was the only thing that helped teddy clear his mind of all the thngs he saw as a healer. he was at the reception of the hospital when he heard someone speaking loudly and someone else trying to calm them down. lookig at the information point he saw a bif wizard looking rather angry and the poor girl sitting doing her job trying to calm them down. “ sir, I’m sure the lady is just trying to do her job, no need to get nervous.as soon as you fill the papers the healers will see you.” teddy spoke softly trying to calm the situation. once everything was done and the man had gone to the waiting room he looked at the welcome witch. “sorry you had to deal with that.”
Dani had worked at the hospital long enough to know most of the healers there. She wasn’t sure if they all knew her but she didn’t mind. They all had much more important things to deal with than worrying about her. She had an admiration for all of them and everything they do and have done, especially with the circumstances that surrounded many people-- herself included. Dani smiled up at him and nodded, “Thank you for that. You’d be surprised how many people are against filling out a little form. I appreciate your help.”
Dani was used to people snapping at her by now. She knew that people were under immense stress and she knew that panic caused aggression sometimes with certain individuals. Dani remained silent through it though and nodded patiently, “I understand your frustrations and I’m sorry to have to ask these questions but I need to make sure I have everything ready for when the Healers are ready to see you.”
To run into him again was a surprise to her but maybe it was exactly what she needed. Dani didn’t work today but it had become a routine to come and visit this bar before she headed home. She had been out and about with her mother most of the day but now it was time to head back home. Dani walked in and looked around before she headed to her usual spot at the bar. She looked around, wondering if maybe today was his day off and then squeaked when he called her name. “Oh goodness, I honestly didn’t see you. I thought maybe you were off today.”
A three-week trip to Paris had seen lovely when he had first planned it. It should have been a simple experience: a few weeks to enjoy the city, see family, and a few great pictures to add to his latest blog post. But he no longer could simply floo home, so after all day on the train, trying to figure out not only the different currencies between the two countries, but magic to muggle, he was exhausted and desperate for a cup of coffee. He had pushed heavily at the door to the first small cafe he found, eyes widening as he nearly whacked right into the person on the other end of the doorway. “I’m so sorry.”
She quickly caught her bag from falling off her shoulder when she ran into the wall. She cleared her throat and then rubbed her forehead as she chuckled, shaking her head. “No need to apologize, I wasn’t really paying attention. I had a double shift at the hospital and well.. I’m honestly exhausted.” She looked up at the other, “You alright though?” She asked more concerned for his well being.
( jessie, 24, eastern time zone, she/her & nicole maines ) the ministry requests the appearance of DANIELLE BURKE immediately ! the TWENTY FOUR year old alumni from HOGWARTS is now working as ST. MUNGO'S WELCOME WITCH. the ministry seeks knowledge about their loss of magic. be cautious for they are INSECURE and STUBBORN, but also ADAPTABLE and RESILIENT. ( she/her & trans female )
hello! i’m jessie and i’m super excited to be here! here’s my child~ let me know if you’d like to plot!
danielle is far from what her family is like and that was one of the main reasons she was disowned by them at such a young age. she kept their last name mostly as a slap to the face because she knows how much they hate that.
proud former gryffindor.
when they disowned her, she moved in with her nanny (who she now sees as her mother) who took her in after her parents had left her on the streets to fend for herself. they had been tolerant to her sorting (at first) but the more she began to act out against what they wanted from her, the more conflict there was between her and her parents. pureblood extremists to the end, arrogant and closed minded, dani could never force herself to be as such and despite their abuse and beatings, she refused to stand down and become their puppet.
she was loud yes and sometimes a little too blunt but she was never mean without reason and when she was then it’s always been provoked. she came out as transgender officially in her 3rd year but her transition didn’t officially begin until the end of her 6th. her mother being a muggleborn, helped her discover herself, it wasn’t easy as there was a lot of internal hatred for herself considering what her birth parents had put her through but her mother was always there through the dysphoria and the doctor visits.
she’s can be ruthless with her words and isn’t afraid to tear someone down if they provoke her. she’s as brutal as she is kind but really all she wants is to make the best of her life and be the best version of herself as possible.
she has her off days as does everyone but she’s a fighter and she’s not one to give up and let herself stay in the dark for very long.
she’s never really had a calling for anything so when she graduated hogwarts, she jumped between jobs often and didn’t know where life would lead her but she embraced the adventure of it with open arms. soon enough, she found herself working as a welcome witch at st. mungos. she helps out with paperwork and to help people with the anxiety of losing their magic as she herself understands what it is like.
being her mother is a muggleborn, the moment she lost her magic, she knew exactly who to go to for help. she is concerned about what is happening and if there is any way to get her magic back but dani is confident that with time, there’ll be a solution.
She treats you the way she wishes someone would treat her. So please don’t be annoyed if she keeps asking if you’re alright. It’s just because no one ever asked her.
“For a while, everything ached and then a little voice inside of me said, “Hey, you have to do something other than hurt all the time.“ And I said, “I know. I know. I’m trying.”
“Truthfully, I’m not asking for an excuse.” James informed his friend as he pushed himself off the wall and walked over to take a seat in front of him. “I’m not asking you to explain anything. I remember Hogwarts and I remember seeing some Professors stay until the late of night grading. I just worried about you, mate. That’s all. Do you like your new job though?”
“I’m not going to lie. Sometimes my patience gets tested quite a lot but then a student does something extraordinary and I remember why I decided to go into teaching. It’s a feeling unlike anything else. I don’t know how to quite describe it. So yes, I do. I love my job.” He chuckled.
Carefully, Victoire set her mug down on the table near and she stepped towards Teddy and placed a gentle hand on his shoulder. “You made it through,” she murmured softly and she hoped that she sounded reassuring. “They’re a part of you, Teddy, of course you are going to miss them. Especially on the important things.”
“You’re right. As always, wise beyond your years.” He smiled at her and then cleared his throat. He didn’t really want to dwell on that subject for too long. He was only here for the summer as he spent most of his time at Hogwarts during classes. He didn’t want to dwell on negative emotions. “Watcha been up to?”
“You’re silly.” Dani couldn’t help but giggle as she picked up a french fry. It was one of her favorite things to go on walks with him in the park. She leaned back against the bench and watched the strangers that walked by. “What are you going to do for the rest of the day?” She peeked over at him with a questioning gaze.
