I think I’ve already reblogged this but what I just noticed is that after the first “revelation” (from Maz) Rey is still in denial. She cries and literally closes her eyes to the truth. But after the second “revelation” (from Ben) she seems to finally accept the truth. She’s crying again, this time, but she keeps her eyes open to the truth.

(Also am I the only one who thinks that Rey looks much different in those two scenes? Even though they’re only a week or something apart?)

It annoys me when antis are problematically lumping this amazing parallel scene with abuse, when it’s not. Kylo was able to do what Maz could not. Open Rey’s eyes to her most painful of truths and break her free of her mental prison she had been desperately guarding for years. To let go of her past that was continuing to hurt her, she HAD to face herself and deal with these emotions. Kylo knew this, and made a choice to propel her forward.

The pain of reality he presents her was all for helping her to grow up, he couldn’t see her do this to herself anymore. This is a way you can see he actively cares so much for her and her wellbeing and wants her to be rid of the things that hold back her true potential as a powerful young woman and as his equal. And Rey will help Kylo grow too, seeing how much more of a level headed person he appears to be while in her company. 

(Also if anything it’s a testament to Daisy’s beauty. She gets prettier every year.)
