Best Goals Against Celtic: Part 1
David Weir - Competitive Appearances
We received a stat request from @rangersfctrust on Twitter regarding Weir's appearances for Rangers, "@RFCstats What % of competitive games has Davie Weir played for Rangers since he signed? And has anyone got a higher %?"
So, we began working on them and here is the results:
94% - David Weir has played 94% of competitive games for Rangers since he was signed in 2007 (230/244). Captain.
81% - Allan McGregor was the closest % of competitive games played since the 2006/07 season (224/277). Goalie.
Thought it would be nice to share our statistics on here from now on, just in-case any of our Tumblr followers do not use Twitter but still want to know the stats.
Player of the Season: Nikica Jelavić
Rangers interested in Neil Danns
Ally McCoist expressed his admiration for the Crystal Palace midfielder, "I would describe Danns as a box-to-box midfielder with good physical attributes and he should be suited to Scotland."
Danns began his football career with Liverpool, before switching to Blackburn Rovers in 2002. A series of loan deals at Blackpool, Hartlepool United and Colchester United were to follow; therefore, only making 3 appearances for Blackburn Rovers between 2002 and 2004.
Whilst at Colchester United, the midfielder scored 30 goals in 86 appearances for the club. He then went on to spend two seasons with Birmingham - but suffered with injuries throughout his Birmingham career; only making 2 appearances in the 2007/08 season.
His time at most recent and current club, Crystal Palace, has been more successful. Danns has spent 4 seasons with the Championship side and has provided 10 assists and scored 20 goals in 114 appearances during this time.
Rangers target Toché
According to reports, Rangers are interested in signing the forward who currently plays in the Spanish second division for FC Cartagena. Wigan and Ipswich Town are also reported to interested in the player. He is valued at approximately £1.6m.
Stats
Toché has scored 3 goals in his last 5 Copa del Rey matches.
Toché scored 16 goals in 34 matches during the 2010/11 campaign.
Toché has scored 43 league goals in 107 appearances.
SPL 2010/11
It wasn't by any means a season worth remembering off of the pitch, but it was a season worth remembering for most Rangers fans as it was Sir Walter Smith's last season in charge of the Ibrox club.
During his second spell as Rangers manager, Smith brought in three SPL titles, two Scottish Cups and three League Cups. Not bad, is it? Especially when you think about the limited resources he had to work with.
Walter's win percentage (a total of both his spells) of 64.42% is the seventh best in the club's history:
Dick Advocaat - 67.53%
Bill Struth - 66.83%
Alex McLeish - 65.96%
William Wilton - 65.78%
Scot Symon - 65.34%
Jock Wallace - 65.25%
Walter Smith - 64.42%
Walter left Rangers on the best possible high winning the League Cup and then going on to win the SPL title at Rugby Park on the third round of Helicopter Sunday.
Top Scorers
Kenny Miller - 21
Nikica Jelavic - 16
Kyle Lafferty - 11
Steven Naismith - 11
Vladimir Weiss - 5
Despite his move to Bursaspor during the January transfer window, former-Rangers striker Kenny Miller was awarded the SPL Golden Boot. Although, you have to wonder how many Jelavic could have scored in his debut season, had he not been injured.
Fastest Goal
Kyle Lafferty - 46s
I'm positive that no Rangers fan will forget this goal anytime soon. Or any of the four goals that followed for Rangers on Helicopter Sunday. Click here to see the best seven minutes of that match (including Lafferty's quick goal).
