I drew this Diana yesterday at work. I was in the galleries looking at another statue of Diana (which is standing and looks nothing like this) I get to draw at work because I run the evening sketching program at a museum. It’s v great

it’s my witchsona!! i imagined i would be an ancient gnostic/mythic pythia type figure doing divining and stuff

i always think of diviners, you know, with bones and entrails and stuff, as the first consultants

a judith with the head of holofernes 

really love this many paintings of this biblical subject, one of my favorites is this one  by artemisia gentileschi--look at the turn of her arm! she’s really sawing away

i also like this contemporary one by kehinde wiley and this fresco from the Sistine chapel
