No doubt, it’s ironic.

听贡布里希论抽象

前几天在公众号上看见一篇推送，文章讲贡布里希论抽象艺术。

・其中他写到：

「……当我严肃地把我对最好的『抽象』油画的反应与某些对我有意义的杰出音乐作品进行比较时，这些抽象画便黯淡下去，沦入仅仅是装饰品的世界中。」

诚然，这是因为绘画的维度不足。新媒体艺术中的Audio-Visual恰好为康定斯基增加了缺失的维度（不过有些不够纯粹了，也许拿无声影像诗做例子更好）。但是我提Audio-Visual是有原因的，因为令我困惑的是：一段无声（或抽象？）影像（是Video Art美学意义上的影像，而不是Film的那种美学），甚至一件Audio-Visual作品，依然鲜有能和一部伟大音乐作品相比的震撼力。 ・文里还讲到艺术实验的「成功」问题，Miles Davis的Kind of Blue或者Bitches Brew都可以当作绝佳的论据吧！

我们知道，世上是不存在「Random」的。可是没人会真的注意这片数码海浪重复与否，在这类媒体艺术作品里，这番解释的作用就是一切了，作品内容本身不需要你去证实什么。

诚如Mediascape一书所言：

By natural reproducible, the media artwork exists only in “copies,” quite like an engraving or woodcut, and the number of copies that are made is strictly arbitrary.

特别是在知道了「在Word上编辑文字其实本质上也是一种『数码印刷』」之后，二者关联之紧密是不足为奇的。

艺术是什么？(What is Art about?)

昨天和朋友聊天，他问我「艺术是什么？」

细想片刻，我想大约和Lawrence Malstaf所言的「客观」(objectivity)是一回事：

We are continually striving to be objective, we try to look from a distance, and we develop all kinds of technology to accomplish that, which is of course very interesting, but in a way this objectivity is something we know we will never really achieve, it’s a bit of an illusion.
