My kiddo has gotten hard into collecting pokemon cards, and as soon as I saw this one I really wanted to draw it.

I only have scraps of paper left due to lockdown and this paper is not great. It goes all pixelated and messy in places. However it’s just so fun to draw!

I used Pokémon cards as references but changed them to make them more chibi, and coloured them my own way :)

Hello Foil Balloon - Coloured Pencil Realism

Hi! Hello!

Polychromos coloured pencils, and luminance white on Bristol vellum smooth 12x9 inches.

Baby feets. I love baby feets they’re so precious and perfect and teeny. Plus you imagine the places they’ll travel, the journey those feets will take them on.

Each journey starts with some teeny feet. It’s also been a journey watching these feets grow, and get more independent. I was feeling all nostalgic because there’s Mother’s Day banners up everywhere, it isn’t Mother’s Day for a while yet but I had to draw something.

I’m having a lot of fun with graphite. It’s so much easier using just a few pencils rather than more than I can count when I do coloured pencil work I feel myself connecting to what I’m producing more because I don’t have to concentrate on which colour I need next, and can free ball it a lot more because you can erase graphite if you do a layer wrong lol. However I might blow this up and do a coloured pencil version but I was feeling the monochrome for this.

Anyway yeah, feets and feels.

I used faber castell mechanical pencil, polychromos black pencil and a staedtler mars black 6B pencil that came in upcrate to do the inbetween black tones. This is 10x7 Bristol sketchbook :)

Holding teeny hands! What will you create with them? A masterpiece, a poem, a Nobel prize, will you use them to change the world? Will you be holding your own babies tiny hands one day like I am now? Anything is possible. Once your hands were this tiny and now they’re bigger than mine, but every time we compare hands, I still see this little tiny hand.

Tools :- Graphite on Strathmore Bristol 10x7:- faber castell mechanical pencil, faber castell 9000 8B, 6B staedtler mars black 8B, 6B, tortillions and an eraser.
