Guy Martin Supersport 600

I just completed another Guy Martin Painting. As the other one sold the the next day I put it up for grabs. :-) 

So here some pictures of the process. I am really thinking into making a video, I will have to look into it soon. 

Layers, and Layers....

I realised the painting had to much of a purple hue to it on this one below...

I never use black to make my shadows or any dark area. I use purples and blues, dark greens and browns...

I've come to love painting helmets...They just happen so naturally...this one has a bit of a chrome effect to it which i like.

Final touches...it was around 2 am, so pic looks quite grainy.

My favourite part of the whole painting process is the question "Will I be able to get it signed by the rider..." "When and how can this be done"...

Guy Martin is pretty much the hardest person to get close to or get an autograph, it's near to impossible....

but voila!!! Thank you Guy Martin for signing my painting!

Here's a full pic so you can see it is actually a painting!! not a photo!

I've completed a new painting! And I'll show you the process I went through and some close ups of the final. I've used Acrylics on Canvas, the canvas size is 80x60"

My process is always the same...Start of with a thin layer of colour blocks....looks quite ghastly!

I always dread the first layers, because it takes forever and it's just not nice to look at, but you just gotta keep adding layers...and it's starting to look better!

And more layers and I love painting helmets so I'm quite excited to start adding some details on it...

After a few many hours....working on the greenery...I used to despise painting "out of focus" or "bokeh" effect with Acrylic as it dries so fast and you have to be real quick to blend the colours together or use a retarder, but the trick really is dry brushing, works for me...

Now we're talking....after a few days work...it's starting to take shaper, blurry background was a real challenge.

After a few many long hours adding details and more layers, I'm finished!

i love how some parts look like oil paint...pretty cool eh?

This Lewis Hamilton acrylic painting in my opinion is the best one I've done, I never thought I'd enjoy painting Formula 1 cars as much. Very tedious and to get the overall chrome look on the car was challenging but the results are pretty fantastic.

Acrylic painting of John McGuinness on his TT Legends bike from Kate's Cottage to Creg-ny-baa in the Isle of Man...Some close up pics and process pictures of the painting. 

The technique I use is similar to water colours, layers upon layers, acrylic paint dries quickly but is quite versatile and forgiving.

Ian Hutchinson on his Honda Padgett's winning bike on the Isle of Man 2010 after winning 5/5 races that week. Legend. I went to see him race for the first time in 2012 while he still had a broken leg, which then inspired me to do this painting of him. I got him to sign it too! Couple close up shots of the painting and process pics. Enjoy!
