heya, y'all can call me rhys (or red). i've been on this planet for 26 slutty, slutty years. any pronouns are fine, my gender is whatever makes the joke land (i do prefer he/him or ze/zem but i honestly really truly do not care about pronouns)

we mostly do utmv-posting here lmao, and also this is a sideblog so i might follow back from my main (or i might not)

i update somewhat slowly! i work a full-time, labor-intensive, outdoor job so i don't have as much time to write as i would really like. however, i do try to post at least once per month when possible.

regular updates will not occur between JULY 1, 2026 - AUGUST 31, 2026. let's call it a brief vacation from posting, heh. regular updates will resume in September.

man, not to bitch abt work or anything, but somebody decided that scheduling 15 rvs spaced across three days was a reasonable ratio of rvs to days (with 6 on one day, 3 on the next, and 6 on the last day) for us to clean many of them are small, granted, but it still means i have spent the last two days hauling ass making sure that we have all 6 of tomorrow's units done ahead of time, not to mention the remaining 9 units for friday and saturday

‘YOUR FATHER THERE?’ Frisk asks.

Something interesting that Chara has picked up about Frisk over the last few months?

Although speaking in Hands allows for a lot of complex grammar to happen with very little extra movement, Frisk still speaks mostly in the short, choppy grammatical style Chara remembers from learning American Sign Language as a kid. Not like it’s unintentional, either – a conscious choice.

Things like signing, “we go city now?” instead of, “are we going to go to the city now?”

Things that Chara knows Frisk has been taught how to say, but Frisk clearly chooses to simplify anyway.

Chara will grant them this much, at least: signing that way lets Frisk get a lot of things across with very little needing to be said.

“… Yes.” They finally answer, when they can no longer distract themself with thoughts of the specific ways that Frisk chooses to speak, “My father lives in the city. You’ll have to… To meet him before you can go home.”

They should say something about it before Frisk gets there, tell them the truth. Tell them that they’re going to have to kill Chara’s dad if they want to go home. That they’re going to have to kill at all will be troubling to them, no doubt.

(It’s an odd feeling, to be sure. There is a part of Chara that is furious at the very idea of Frisk hurting their father. That’s their father, for stars’ sake! And who gave Frisk the right to kill a monster just so they could go home? What a selfish, awful human. Just like every other human.)

(… But there is also a part of them that knows it’s probably for the best. Their father is, to borrow a phrase from Sans, old as balls. Frankly he shouldn’t even still be on the throne anyway, but Asriel can’t take his place with the way things are now. It’s for the best if Frisk puts him out of his misery.)

(… And yet there is another piece of them, sad beyond words, that can only think of what Frisk said about getting back to the Surface – they don’t have a family, they just have people they want to see again, people that they want to reassure. Friends, probably, maybe the only friends Frisk has ever had. And if only their father could be reasoned with, he and Frisk could probably walk hand-in-hand across the Barrier singing kumbayah, find a viable human soul on the Surface, and return to free all of Monster-kind. But that can never happen, and it makes their empty, phantasmal soul ache like a bad bruise.)
