EDIT: there was some interest in a pattern, and while i do have the urge to make this like.. a Proper and Nice pattern, the best i can offer rn is the notes i made while i made him. maybe some day he will be up on raverly or instagram or something else
these have not been tested so proceed with caution, if something doesn't make sense it might just be a mistake. lots of this is vague since i was just writing some notes down as i went, sorry about that 😭 trust your heart and vibes
BODY (with grey yarn)
- 6sc in mc (or sc2 and crochet in first chain)
- inc x 6 (12)
- (sc, inc) x 6 (18)
- sc, inc, (2sc, inc) x 5, sc (24)
- (3sc, inc) x6 (30)
- 2sc, inc, (4sc, inc) x 5, 2sc (36)
- (5sc, inc) x 6 (42)
- 3sc, inc, (6sc, inc) x 5, 3sc (48)
- (7sc, inc) x 6 (54)
- sc around for 9 rounds
- (7sc, dec) x 6 (48)
- 3sc, dec, (6sc, dec) x 5, 3sc (42)
- (5sc, dec) x 6 (36)
- 2sc, dec, (4sc, dec) x 5, 2sc (30)
- (3sc, dec) x 6 (24)
- stuff somewhere around here
- 1sc, dec, (2sc, dec) x 5, 1sc (18)
- (1sc, dec) x 6 (12)
- dec x 6, finish off
HEAD (with red yarn)
- repeat R1-4 of body (ending up with total 24 stitches)
- R5-7 sc around
- sc, dec, (2sc, dec) x 5, sc (18)
- finish off, leave a tail for sewing
on a second go what i might do instead is either leave the last row completely off, or just sc around without decreasing- depends on your preference! i sewed the head on row 4 of the body, i think. the eyes are felted on
ARMS (make 2 with grey)
- 6sc in mc
- sc around for 5 rounds
- finish off and leave a tail for sewing, add a little stuffing
- stitch white details on R3
LEGS (make 2 with grey)
- 6sc in mc
- (sc, inc) x 3 (9)
- sc around (9)
- (sc, dec) x 3 (6)
- sc around for 2 rounds
- finish off and leave a tail for sewing, stuff
- stitch black details on R5
BATT APPLIQUE (with red yarn)
- ch 2, 2sc in second ch from hook, turn
- ch 3, sc in second ch from hook, skip ch, inc, inc, ch 2, turn
- sc in second ch from hook, ch 1, inc, 2sc, inc, ch 2, turn
- inc, 4 sc, inc, ch 2, turn
- inc, 6 sc, inc, ch 1, turn
- 4 slst, (slst, ch 1, slst) all in one stitch, repeat a second time in the next stitch to make the bat ears
- finish off, leave a long tail for sewing onto the body
this thing looks janky as hell, but i wanted to make it as small as possible to make him as Pocket Sized as possible. you might have to tug and pull it into shape when sewing it on, manipulating it until it looks like you want it to- and when sewing with the same red yarn, you can fix little details and make it look a little better. i sewed mine on so that there's one row between the head and the tips of the ears
JACKET (with brown yarn)
- ch 17, slst down the chain from the second ch from hook, ch 1, turn (16)
- 3 sc in one, (6 sc, inc) x 2, 3 sc in one, ch 1, turn (22)
- inc, inc, (3 sc, inc) x 5, inc, ch 1, turn (31)
- 2 sc, inc, (4 sc, inc) x 5, 3 sc, ch 1, turn (37)
- 3 sc, ch 5, skip 2 sc, 4 sc, inc, (5 sc, inc) x3, sc 4, ch5, skip 2 sc, 3 sc, ch 1, turn (47)
- repeat for two rows: 47 sc, ch 1, turn (47)
- 7sc, dec, 29sc, dec, 7 sc, ch 1, turn (45)
- repeat for two rows: 45 sc, ch 1, turn (45)
- finish off
- sc 10-11 around the armholes to create the sleeves- or leave him with a vest!
Assembly + details
- i suggest sewing the head on first, then the bat on the chest, then then arms and legs. this was vibes-based for me, but my best guess would be that the arms are sewn over R8-10, and the legs over R17-20. unfortunately best i can tell you about the spacing is that the widest part of the bat go about a stitch past the head on each side, and the inner corner of the arm lines up with the tip of the bat wing.
- when making this guy, i made the jacket based on where the arms rested on the body. if you want to recreate him, i would almost suggest making the jacket first, sticking the arms through the sleeves, and using a pin or something similar to mark where you want to attach them?
- to make the belt, i slipstitched over R16 with black yarn, stitched little triangles attached to the belt on the outer sides of the legs to represent the holsters, and then added white stitches in the middle of the belt
- i gave him a little butt by cinching a couple of stitches in the back :>
this is a MESS jesus christ. maybe one day he shall become an actual, refined pattern. if you make him pleaaaaase let me know and see !!!
