Hey~ can you tell us about the straw hats with veils coming down to cover the wearer's face we see mostly in wuxia? I have seen some very pretty ones with added accessories like pearls and flowers too. What are they called?

The traditional Chinese veiled hats that we mostly see in Wuxia are called Weimao/帷帽. I wrote about the history of Weimao in this post. Please also see this post by fate-magical-girls for further information on the history/evolution of Chinese veiled hats.

As you’ve noticed, it’s recently become trendy among Hanfu wearers to decorate Weimao with various kinds of accessories such as pearls and flowers. The effect is really pretty!

no one tells you how much of life takes practice. not just writing, painting, running, singing, etc, but practicing how to make friends. how to make the right ones. getting practiced at how to be a good friend, a good sibling, a good person. practice identifying when people haven’t earned that. learning to recognize your right to rage and, eventually, how to offer mercy. so much of life is muscle memory, and i’ve begun to realize there are so many more parts of ourselves to flex and stretch and strengthen than those we’re taught in anatomy lessons

i can’t remember where i first heard this piece of advice, but it’s stuck with me to the point of almost becoming my personal motto. it’s been so useful to me, because every time i resist improvement because it’s so hard to remember how to do things right, or beat myself up because my instinctual inner response to something is not the kind response it should be, this phrase whispers in my ear. practise it deliberately, slowly if need be, until it becomes instinct, and then you won’t have to do more than basic maintenance to keep it alive. it’s hard learning to do things right, but what keeps me motivated is the knowledge that it will get easier and more natural. someday.

Other Helpful Tips:

In order to see villagers on mystery islands, you need to have a villager plot already set up on your island for them to move to. Or else they won’t show up on mystery islands. 

 Once you unlock terraforming, you’re able to place sand squares on the grass to plant beach trees (Coconuts and lets hope Bananas) on top! 

 ALL Balloons stop spawning after achieving 300 ‘pops.’ (x)

 To get the most out items of rocks, dig holes behind your player so they have nothing to bounce into and you have time for an extra hit with your shovel, giving a total of eight max items.
