ADVENTURE TIME: BUBBLEGUM & MARCELINE SERIES ANNOUNCED

Variety reports that yet another Adventure Time series was announced at the Annecy animation festival!! This one will focus on Princess Bubblegum and Marceline.

Unlike Side Quests, which premieres next week, Adam Muto will be returning as showrunner. As far as I can tell there's been no word on the other two Adventure Time projects Muto was supposedly working on, Heyo BMO and the untitled Adventure Time movie. In today's announcement, they made sure to mention that Bubblegum & Marceline has already been greenlit and is already being written. Hopefully this means it will not face the development limbo that the other projects seem to be stuck in.

Bubblegum & Marceline will be a serial like Fionna & Cake rather than episodic like Side Quests. If it airs before Heyo BMO, it will be the fourth Adventure Time spin-off series.

There is currently no release date or poster or anything like that; just a logo.

something that i find interesting about independent animation nowadays is that if you don't have studio/streamer backing, you have to release your work yourself on the internet, but you have to do it for free on the internet because virtually nobody is going to be willing to accept a paywall just for one original show, so what you have to do in order to make any money off of it is make all of your money from merchandising, but then this means that you show must be merchandisable and have very toyetic character designs that translate easily to plushies and whatnot, but then you also need to cater your show to people who are disproportionately inclined to buy merchandise like that in the first place so that your sales can be enough to sustain you, which means that even if you want to communicate complex or difficult ideas in your work, your independent animation project must attract (at least on a first impression) and retain viewers who are both very consumerist and very capable of rabid passion, which unfortunately has a single-circle shaped venn diagram with a lot of the most toxic fandom tendencies known to man, and this explains a lot of things about independent animation and its fandoms nowadays I think

The way all the 2020s have done so far have been making me categorically against every new generation of tech that comes out is insane. Like I'm from a technological boom generation, saw the first portable phones, nokias & blackberries & flipphones etc, and the first smartphones, and the first ipods & ipads & tablets in general while still having cassettes & DVD & MP3 players around so I know how all of it work, I had computer classes in high school, I did the transition between home desktop computers to laptops and back to gaming computers. But then they started to put internet in your printer & microwave, everything has ads & AI now and every update is worst than the last. I literally loved technology and they ruined it

Imagine your fav has an extremely distinct and unique look (lavender hair with braids and arms covered in purple lightning scars) and for two years it's just her and then then suddenly another girl shows up on the scene with the same style. Now 50% of the time when you see art of your fav it's actually the other girl. It could happen to you. It happened to me.
