It only gets worse in E1S.
For those who are looking to get into harder content like Extreme Trials and Savage for the first time, there are often mechanics that require party members to be in specific positions in the arena. These positions are usually either cardinals (North, East, South, West) or intercardinals (North East, South East, South West, North West), or a combination of the two.
There are lots of different ways to coordinate positions before a pull. One common method is using the [1] marker. Since it’s box shaped, the sides represent the cardinal positions and the corners represent the intercardinal positions, so it’s a quick and easy way to declare your spot for a mechanic. It also allows the group leader to easily check if any positions are missing a player or if there’s any double up.
Personally, using the [1] marker is my preferred method of position coordination! I feel it’s much easier than people calling out positions, since it’s easy to lose track of taken positions in party chat. But I don’t really care what method the party uses, as long as everyone actually participates in coordination so the party is on the same page.
