Enjoying some evening fishing.
Just getting ready to fight a prince. No biggie.
Tell me about a FFXIV fandom project or creative work outside of Tumblr that you’d like to highlight – whether yours or somebody else’s. It could be a AoW story, a comic, a blog on a different site, a carrd, a cosplay or something else entirely.
Thank you for the ask - I would be delighted to highlight a certain fandom project outside of Tumblr.
Did you know that Nyarumi of @nyarumi-nyan on this very website, is actually working on an illustrated novel? Like an actual novel. With chapters and artwork and punctuation and everything.
Alongside the equally talented Yokufo, they are working hard on realising their shared dream of a Boys Love Novel set within the FFXIV universe and you can find Chapter One here.
Now personally I very much like boys, I very much approve of love, and I very much enjoy a good novel, so this is a project which I wholeheartedly support. But even if it's not necessarily your cup of tea, please try to give any encouragement you can to this fantastic project - hopefully it will inspire more people to follow their creative dreams.
You can find the Patreon here, which includes a Free Supporters Tier, as well as paid options if you want to add a little extra support.
You can find Yokufo's Bluesky page here. And Nyarumi's here.
And if you're going to the upcoming Berlin Fanfest then look out for them - you might even get a sticker!
As the tide comes in.
Working on an OC who is from a lesser known Xaela tribe called the Mankhad.
Sad to hear that some people apparently experience the FFXIV community on Tumblr as unwelcoming or insular.
Whilst that certainly hasn't been my experience, I can appreciate that it would feel rubbish to be left with those feelings, regardless of whether or not they were justified or proportionate.
I think I do try to be welcoming and inclusive towards new FFXIV blogs, but I'm open to feedback on how I can do a better job with it.
Currently I try to use my second blog to highlight smaller or newer blogs and to get their posts more traction, as well as leaving likes and sometimes comments on people's gposes or writing. I also try to always tag one or two new mutuals in Ask Games or to let them know about in-game events. I could possible be quicker to follow new blogs, but I usually bide my time a bit more with that, to see how they respond to my overtures.
I guess the flipside is that sometimes people have made it clear that they find my attempts to include them cringey or patronising (and certainly the occasional anon has told me so in no uncertain terms). So it's not always clear how best to go about these things.
Plus, sometimes the one or two people who have made it clear that they really don't like me will still reblog my Ask Games and OC prompts, so I guess at least they see me as good for something, even though they don't want to share a space with me!
Anyway I'm rambling somewhat incoherently in the heat, but the TLDR is: please let me know if you have suggestions on how I could do more to make new community members feel more welcome and included.

I will make a more formal effort to clean things up and start looking to engage with folks properly again in the coming days/weeks (have family visiting eminently so that’s taking all my spoons rn) but for now have my goofy guy in the Rule-Breaker attire I just got earlier this week.
