Possibly my proudest work – I've been chipping at this playlist since the day I joined the fandom and irreversibly fell in love with those two. This is my attempt at telling their story through music.

I hc that after finding out his secret Coco would do anything she can to not let Qifrey feel safe and comfortable at the atelier out of worry by inconveniencing him in minor childish ways. Stuff like leaving small angular objects on the couch. Adding too much salt to his food. Soaking him wet with a bad water spell once in a while. Oru and the other girls would think they got into an argument but Qifrey would be strangely emotional instead of annoyed every time.

Reasoning and description below

I know we all thought it but I was thinking about the woodcruor of silverwood being the blood of the tree and implications on the fact that it is essentially sap mixed with actual blood of another living being.

And then I thought how Qifrey was able to draw that spell with his foot back at Romonon, and while I agree he used the ink of his sylph shoes to draw, considering the size of that sigil, the fact that he was definitely bleeding aplenty at that point, and the fact that his ass recognized Iguin's blood tampered inkpot in roundabout 0.5 seconds, plus his usual aura farming, and I thought "yeah there is no way that if this is something with some validity he does not know he could do it anytime if needed."

And I was thinking that if his inkpot broke or ran out during a confrontation and the stakes were high enough he probably would take any measures he could to protect the people he loves and make it out the confrontation alive.

And then I sat until 2:30am to draw this. My sleep schedule will never recover.

Both because this art isn't entirely mine, and because I just want to spread my WHA agenda, you can download this pattern for free right here - If anyone does stitch their own Coco, please show it to me :3 My version is a little different partially because I was using thread colours I already own instead of the exact ones the pattern lists, and partially because I made a few mistakes that I was too lazy to frog and fix lol.

I do not think I should talk. There is nothing new to add that would sound sane. There is something about the way Olruggio looks at him, something about the light glow of their reflections, the sleeves falling to his knuckles. Something about Qifrey finding comfort in talking, sitting with one leg up, something about Olruggio’s pose showing how Qifrey’s speech soothes him, even if we cannot hear it. The way Olruggio leans on the windowsill and the cushions, his hand loosely holding a drink, his head turned to Qifrey, neck and shoulder blades exposed — his eyes focused on Qifrey’s face, he’s listening, watching Qifrey attentively, and maybe his mind is less clear, Qifrey’s words tangling with each other, but his heart is as warm as the colors as the night. The strings will be turning into knots, maybe, when he drinks a bit more, when the plate is cleared, when Qifrey stands up to leave. But for now, they are covered in gold, in warmth, and Qifrey’s talking — Qifrey’s talking. What else can Olruggio do other than listen to his song?

I would say this is an au of an au but honestly none of these concepts have enough internal logic atm to define them, I'm just doodling whatever comes to mind

sometimes i wonder what olruggio really thinks in regards to qifrey becoming a teacher. i wonder how that conversation went when qifrey told him for the first time because olruggio... doesn't exactly go easy on qifrey in regards to teaching the kids. not that olruggio thinks qifrey is a poor teacher by any means, i don't think olruggio thinks that. he says as much in chapter 40. it's more that i think olly kind of oversteps at times in regards to qifrey teaching the kids and i wonder what motivates that.

some examples i've been thinking about

defying what qifrey wants by taking agott with him to help at the river.

he doesn't even give qifrey a chance to explain coco's situation and why he was taking her on as an apprentice. olruggio rejects it almost immediately. he's not trusting qifrey's judgement.

openly expresses frustration with qifrey's teaching in front of one of his students.

he tries to get qifrey to swear he'll continue to be a good mentor to the kids

he's angry enough to get physical with a wounded qifrey when qifrey impulsively goes to chase after the brims.

he also has nothing to say when beldaruit makes this statement about qifrey

he openly questions where qifrey's priorities are at by suggesting the girls' safety might be important to him so he can get what he wants with the brims. this one is actually dark af.

olruggio spent a lot of time teaching qifrey when they were kids so i wonder if that's just their dynamic where olly will insert his opinions and will on the situation bc that's what he's always done, but i think it's interesting because qifrey would have a right to be angry at a few of these.
