I'm Aine, and I am tryna practice how to write since I've been doing this ever since 7th grade. I am from the Philippines, so English isn't my first language. I am used to using both Tagalog and English at the same time, but I still struggle to use just one language in a sentence. So technically I am also practicing to formulate my english better by writing.
Enough with the yap! But I will be writing in both English and Tagalog, which I will indicate in my masterlist below!
And also, send me some request ( ദ്ദി ˙ᗜ˙ ) I will happily, gladly accept it and write it in my whole power, will, and everything LMAO

20 years. It was this exact date 20 years ago when both you and Jeonghan wed.
People talked. At the young age of 20, you two were sure of each other. With love, hope, and dreams together, that is all it takes to build a home. Home, even though the roof was leaking, the doors were squeaking, windows barely closed, it was a small house but filled with love.
Jeonghan was a charming man. You noticed how he has these sharp yet soft features on him, which invites you to look at him more, which makes you notice he has these kind eyes, which immediately left you with a remarkable impression when you first met him. His eyes did not lie; he was the kindest man you ever met in your life.
It was him who approached you first. You were reading your favorite book with a piece of heliotropes as your bookmark under the Narra tree. You can remember clear as the skies that day how the sun reflected the sunshine on his fair skin, looking at you intently, nervously fidgeting the thumb of his intertwined fingers. With so much courage, he spoke.
“I’m Jeonghan.” 16-year-old Jeonghan was nervous in front of a woman for the first time in his life. Gulping the nervousness, he closed his eyes and professed his love. “I wanted to let you know that ever since I saw you under this tree, you were beautiful back then… Up until now!” he stuttered. “You caught my eye, and you made my heart your own.” Taking a deep breath, gathering all his last bit of courage, he finally locked eyes with you.
“Would you please give me a chance and prove my worth to you?” His heart was beating fast, and anxiousness was taking over him. Putting the book down and descry, you looked into his eyes and saw only sincerity. After that day, he visited you under the same Narra every day without fail. And without fail, you fell inlove.
Being inlove with Jeonghan was easy. He had a smile that heals everything, he was the gentlest man you love, and he was the kindest man you know. Jeonghan may be complex as a person, yet it complements him very well, making you love him more. He shows his love in very different ways. Sometimes he teases you playfully up until you sulk which he will immediately use to his advantage to shower you with his love by leaving playful kisses all over you until you show him his favorite smile of yours. Or when he hugs you from behind and sings you a song in your ears while you cook a meal for both of you. Or when he is just there beside you even on the quiet or chaotic days.
Even after the marriage, after he vowed in front of everyone you cherished the most and with his ring placed on his fingers and heliotropes in your hands, he vowed for better or for worse, for richer or poorer, in sickness or in health, he will put priority on you, and he will love you perpetually. He was the peace you never knew you would feel, he embodies the same comforting breeze under the same Narra tree you met him with.
One day, you were informed that the Narra tree will be taken down a week from now. You weeping was an understatement. That same tree holds the memory of you meeting Jeonghan, it witnessed how your love bloomed like a bud of a flower into a beautiful heliotropes. Jeonghan held you throughout. He was, too, dejected with the news. He can still clearly remember how gorgeous you looked under the tree, how focused you were with your book, how you glowed, and how the wind blew through your hair – making you ravishingly beautiful. He cannot bear to lose that sight again.
Tomorrow morning, he intentionally visit Mr. Pecker. He is the one who owns the land, who plans to rent it out; that’s why the Narra tree will be cut down.
“Mr. Yoon. Good to see you. How is married life treating you?” He asked.
“Mr. Pecker, the wife treats me well.” He answered with enthusiasm. “What will you do with the chopped wood of Narra on that pot of land?”
“I haven’t thought of that,” he paused, thinking of what the use of the piece of wood is for them. “Mostly nothing, I may plan to give it away. It’s a nice lumber.” Mr. Pecker said. Jeonghan smiled with the thought of what he could do with the lumber of that memorable tree.
“Could you perhaps give it to me then? I’ll even give you some extra cash for it,” He negotiated.
“Young man,” the old man laughed, “I can give it to you for free. It’s a good thing you show some eagerness to have it.”
After Jeonghan had the lumber by then, he immediately went straight after his work to make you a nice, big, sturdy bed using that tree. It was a routine for him, you making his packed lunch for his work, clock in, do work, clock out, and go straight to his small workshop. It took you a short time to notice that he had been going home later than usual. You really don’t want to think of bad things about Jeonghan; he has been the sweetest guy you ever met. He will never do things that will hurt you. Instead, you waited patiently for him to come home. Sitting on the small patio in front of your house with hot tea, you held to combat the cold breeze that is hitting your skin. And there you have it, you saw a familiar figure walking towards you with the same familiar smile plastered all over his face. You set your mug aside and quickly welcomed your husband with a warm hug, contradicting the cold exposed skin of his.
“Welcome home,” you said, burying your face deep in his chest. You felt a small peck of a kiss on top of your head and heard his low register voice replying, “Thank you for waiting for me.” You two held the pose for a bit and when you let go, he asked what you were still doing under the cold night still waiting for him. Giving a warm smile, you replied, “I was waiting for my husband.”
“God, I am so lucky to have you,” chuckling to his response, you invited him inside, offering him a cup of the same tea you were enjoying before him. Which he gladly accepts. It took you a cup of tea to catch up with the day of each other. Seeing you smile makes Jeonghan work hard for his gift for you.
At the first year of your anniversary, you work up with Jeonghan’s face up close, gazing your face. “What?” you titter. “You have eye boogers over here. I’ve been wanting to remove them, but you were sleeping like a baby.” You playfully hit him and rose from your bed, but your movements had halted with his arms around you, burying you deep into your sheets.
“Happy anniversary,” he said and reached out to leave a peck of a kiss on your lips that made you smile. You extend your hand over his cheeks, and he instinctively left a chaste kiss and pulled him into a kiss. It was a gentle kiss that expressed your devotion to him. It was a moment for both of you, sharing a gentle reminder of your love for each other.
“I have something for you,” he said, beaming in excitement.
“What is it?” You asked.
“I wouldn’t be surprised if I revealed it, am I right?” After that, he was gone for half of the day, you were confused why, but trusted your man. Instead, while you wait for him, you cooked a nice meal for both of you to commemorate a year of love with the man you love the most.
Afternoon arrives, and you see your man outside your door with his buddies heaving a gigantic bed towards your direction. “Oh my!” you said.
Placing it down, panting, Jeonghan said, “Surprise!” Even with the evident exhaustion, he is still smiling.
“What is this for?!” You exclaimed with a subtle smile on your face that Jeonghan definitely did not miss making his heart flutter.
“For you”
“For me?”
“Yes, the same Narra tree that was taken down. It's for you. For us. For the memory that was witnessed by this wood. I carefully carved those heliotropes you loved the most!” Jeonghan said proud of himself.
You jumped towards him in bliss and cried on his arms, whispering, “Thank you, thank you, thank you,” repeatedly. You were so sure you would never see the tree ever again but seeing it now turned into your bed makes you fall in love with your considerate husband even more.
That night after the meal you two shared, you two were under the fresh sheets on top of the carefully carved bed that he made. He was true to his words; the heliotropes you loved the most were evident in every shape in your headboard.
“Jeonghan, I love it so much,” you squealed. You two took a moment looking and touching the varnished heliotropes that represent your love for him; eternal love and devotion. Just perfect in how you see him as your lover. He then breaks the silence.
“Did having a kid ever cross your mind?” he asked.
“Why?” you replied.
“I did think of a small child running around our home that both of us will raise and share our love with.” It took you a minute to reply. Having a kid with Jeonghan never crossed your mind; marrying him feels like it happened yesterday. But his expressing his desire to have a kid of his own, it made you think. Maybe it would be the same as loving Jeonghan; it would be easy. Ofcourse the logistics of having a child– that’s hard. But with Jeonghan, nothing will ever be hard with him by your side.
“What would you name our child?” you smiled.
Trying to contain the happiness, he replied, “I actually haven’t thought of that yet. But I did think that having a daughter would be fun. I would try my best to learn how to braid her hair just like how you do yours.” he grins ear-to-ear.
“It would be lovely to call her Clara,” you said.
“Why?” he said while playing with the strands of your hair.
“As far as I can remember, that meant bright, or clear. It would be the same as you. You made my life brighter than it was with your clear love. Clara.” Then it hit you, a small girl, holding both of your hands, laughing, crying, loving, together with your one and only husband.
“Clara,” he paused. Before pulling you for a kiss, “I like it,” he said, then kissed you passionately. It was a soft, gentle kiss. A kiss embodied how Jeonghan loves you; it was peaceful, quiet, and safe. It was a promise, a pledge, an assurance that you will be the only person he will love the most. With your bodies crashing into each other, lingering touch that’s wandering around, ending up with both of you moans in satisfaction of each other. With his lips traveling down your neck– a repeated confession of love was made.
Months had passed, and you were bearing your child– his child. He had been so supportive all throughout the pregnancy. He was there to hold your hair when the nausea was acting up, he was there to give you back rubs when you had back pains, he was there to give in to your weird cravings, he was patient with you and your mood swings, and lastly, he was there holding your hand when the two lines appeared in the test. He threw a celebration when he was informed that it was a girl; he could finally meet Clara– his child. In a matter of weeks in fact.
“Okay, baby clothes. Check. I packed extra in case she needed more,” he said while scrumbling around your baby bag. “Love, I think you overpacked a bit,” you said that was immediately brushed off. “There is no such thing as overpacking for our Clara. She deserves the whole world.”
Then a sudden sharp cramp you felt, which made you hold onto his hands, “Darling, what happened?” he panicked.
“What date is it?” you asked.
“The 20th… Shit, it's your due date.” And right on cue, your water just broke. He immediately took your maternity bag and called a cab to the hospital. Holding his hand, you breathed with his help. It was the most painful experience you felt in your entire life. You expected this pain, but this pain was something you still can’t anticipate. As you scream for your own life, he tries to hurry the cab driver. As you arrived to hospital, you were already crying in intense pain on Jeonghan’s arm. After the initial assessment, you were wheeled into the operating room, where Jeonghan was blocked. Of course, no relative shall be inside.
“Your wife’s condition is critical. If an emergency arises, I need you to sign a consent which–” the doctor’s voice was cut off by persistent Jeonghan, “Save my wife. Whatever you do, prioritize my wife.”
The following hours were the most excruciating hours of his life. He was pacing back and forth. Anxiety is taking him over. The possibility that his wife might die because he wanted a kid. He never wanted to go this way; this was never part of the plan. If his wife died, it's all his fault. This is all his fault for putting her in this position. It was never intended this way.
The way his heart stopped when he saw the doctor step out of the room. With their bloody gown, they delivered the news that would change the trajectory of his– his and his wife’s life.
“We did prioritize your wife, she’s stable. However, your daughter couldn’t make it.” His world came crashing down. He anticipated this one, he chose this decision yet why is he crying as if this was the first time hearing all of this? His plans he made with you and Clara, the nursery that both of you built little by little with all the love you have, he packed so many diapers– all that for a dead baby?
He wept hard, he was all over crying for the daughter he never had the chance to meet. He is crying for you, he does not want you to blame yourself, he would rather have you blame him instead. He was crying for the future Clara could ever have, for the love she deserves to have, and the missed opportunity for her to have a loving family and be a loving parent for Clara. For one of those, he howls in pain.
He tried to collect himself together when he was called into the room where your baby was swaddled. She was such an angel with the pink swaddle that both of you picked. She was cold, she was lifeless, she was flapping around. He was denying all of it; he tried calling her name, he tried tapping her small cheeks, he tried putting his fingers over her hands, but it was all a failure. There was no response from her. He again cried his heart out, kneeling, with his dead child on his arms. He is calling your name with apologies that he knows he does not deserve to be forgiven.
Ride home was rather weird. It was quiet, something that neither of you weren’t fond of. He used to fill that silence with a hum. But this time, no one dared to talk. Or even acknowledge the big bag filled with items that will never be used.
Ride home was extended to a couple of days that turned into weeks, and even months. Jeonghan buried himself with work and all you did was mope around the house. Jeonghan can still hear your silent sniffling in the middle of the night and see the same swaddle that was used for your dead child that no one dared to wash the cloth.
But one day, everything fell apart. It was your limit. You threw everything in sight. “Fucking hell, Jeonghan! What the fuck is wrong with you!” You shouted at the top of your lungs.
Jeonghan was taken aback by how you shouted at him. It was a first to see you in this state. Instinctively, he held you close to him while you broke down into pieces. You tried to get loose from his arms, screaming, “You should blame me! Blame me, Jeonghan! That was your child!” You sobbed. “I killed your Clara! You should hate me!” You said, losing your mind, crashing out, and weeping. With no chance of winning on Jeonghan’s arms that are tightly wrapped around you, all the energy you have left in your body, but your mind told you otherwise. Still trying to pull your hair, yet still failing to do so because he is doing his best to stop you from hurting yourself further. Up to this point, he is crying too. Chanting “It’s not your fault, it's my fault,” as if that will vanish your intense pain. He is wishing under his breath that this will calm you down at least a bit.
The home was filled with cries, both of you trying to claim which fault was all of that. After both of you calmed down, you were in his arms while both of you sat on the floor. Holding each other, Jeonghan continued to caress your hair, humming your favorite music in a soft, low register. Just perfect for you to at least still find peace in the chaos both of you carry.
“Jeonghan,” he hummed in response. “I’m sorry.” You said, sobbing softly, even your body could not cry anymore. With your swollen eyes and stuffed nose, it was physically impossible to cry further, and besides, you were so tired of crying.
“It was never your fault,” his heart shattering at how you still blame yourself, when in fact it was him who you should blame. All he could do to reassure you was to quietly place a kiss on the top of your head. Moments passed by, and he felt your peaceful presence sleeping on his arms like you used to. With a bittersweet smile on his face, he slowly lifted you up and carefully placed you down in your shared bed, and sleep peacefully that night.
Days– months had passed. It was a painful moment, but both of you tried to move past it. But life is a bitch, bills were piling up, and loansharks was knocking on your door. You don’t know what to do. You tried getting sideline work like washing clothes, babysitting, or any work you could do. But it is still catching up.
One day at work, Jeonghan was approached by a military recruiter. He was promised a good cash monthly payment that would be sent to his family if he agreed to be sent to a war. He told the recruiter that he would think about it, and he was given a calling card. At first, he paid no attention to it. He will be choosing you over everything. But this decision was changed when you were cornered into an alley by one of your loansharks. Thankfully, Jeonghan was able to stop them by giving the last bit of cash he had on him that was supposed to be your week’s of grocery. Jeonghan was scared to death, and without even consulting you, he called the recruitment during his work break to confirm the enlistment.
“And you didn’t even consult me?! We are partners, aren’t we?! What happened to our promise that we will never keep secrets from each other?” You exploded.
“You were cornered by an alley. And you expect me to do nothing about it?” He retorts.
“You saved me!”
“If this money problem doesn’t stop, when will it be? When both of us are dead?!” He finally shouted back, which made you step back. “Look, I want you safe. I already said yes to the enlistment. We need this money. Please understand. I will be back, I promise,” he said, stepping closer to you.
“You already broke your promise to me, Jeonghan. What made you think I would trust you on this one?” You reprimand.
“You need to trust me on this one, please.” He pleaded, holding both of your arms, crying.
“Clara already died because of me. Please don’t do this to me.” You, too, were crying this time. “Jeonghan, please.”
“Trust me, please. I am just doing this for both of us.”
No one was happy with the choices that were made. He was away with a promise that he would be back.
You cried, prayed, and waited for Jeonghan to return. True to its words, cash kept coming, but still no Jeonghan in sight. First year of him gone, all the debt collectors were, too, gone. Paid off. Your heart was never the same. It was as if half of yourself was gone with him. In the second year of his absence, you were still hopeful. Third year, you built your home again into this much better one, thinking that he would be back with a pleasant home he built while he was away. Without the leaking roof, doors not squeaking anymore, windows that can close perfectly, and keeping the same bed in the new house. Yet the house was not filled with love anymore. It was filled with loneliness. Fourth year was the year you struggled the most; people talked. Saying Jeonghan has already left you for another woman, or he is already dead somewhere in the middle of the war. All of those words were ignored. You were isolated. Yet you waited.
Fifth, sixth, seventh, eighth, up to years you cannot remember how much longer had passed. Still no Jeonghan in sight. You are now known in your town as the widowed wife who waited endlessly for her husband to come back to her small patio with tea in her hands. Without fail, you never stop waiting for him, the same way he visited you without fail under the Narra tree. You are afraid that if you missed a day, you will not see your beloved husband come back home. People pitied you, but you couldn’t care less. You held closer to your heart the promise that Jeonghan made years ago.
Many year had passed, the former youthful features you had were changed into mature ones, and left you wondering, what does he look like now? Does he still have those kind eyes you loved ever since? Will he still smile at you? Was he still the same silly man you married after all these years? When will he ever tease you again? Does he think of you the same way you think of him? Did he ever miss you as you missed him?
20 years. It was this exact date 20 years ago when both you and Jeonghan wed. You finally saw the man you have been waiting for years. He’d aged. He was way different in how you could remember him. He gained wrinkles, the kind eyes turned into cold, tired ones, and the light was gone. He looked so different that it made you think if you were hallucinating. Maybe this is one of those days that you start seeing him coming back. But you were praying to God, hoping that he was the one you had been waiting for.
You want to run into his arms, but you are just standing still. Suddenly, you forgot how to walk. That moment was only a dream, but now…
“My love,” he stutters. Tears come rolling down your cheeks, and as you slowly walk towards him, you gently hold his cheeks, which instinctively makes him caress his face towards your hand, and holding your hands with the same hand he had his wedding band on. It was not as shiny and taken care of as before, and it had rust of blood, but the ring is still there as his promise that he will bring himself back to you.
“Is it really you, my love?” you choked into your words.
“I am not the man you once adored, my love.” You were about to hug your husband when he stepped backwards, which shattered your heart. Him– stepping back, shattered your heart more than you were waiting for him to come back. The man you have been waiting for is right in front of you, but he refuses to get closer to you. He is one fingerbreadth away from you, yet you feel so far from him.
“I…” his tears start choking him into weeping, “I am not the man you fell in love with, not the man you once adored, not the man who used to be the kind and gentle husband to love.”
“What happened?” You were scared to ask, but it really needed to be asked.
With just two words, it all came back to Jeonghan. There was a guy named Wonwoo when an explosion occurred. He had two kids and a pregnant wife. If he hadn’t left that wounded soldier, it would have been both of them dead in that explosion. A guy named Joshua was among the other military men, and with one swift move and a knife, he was dead. If he didn’t do that, he could’ve been the dead one. Soonyoung was caught up in a riot. Jeonghan could’ve helped if there had been a backup available, but there was none. Later that day, his body was found lifeless. His single mother is waiting for him in their home. If he helped him, he would have been dead. He killed more people than he anticipated; he traded so many lives for his, and this is all for his wife waiting for him in their home. It was the brutal reality for him, but he needed to be back for his wife even if it cost someone’s life. But the guilt is weighing on him– it was heavy. Those people also have people waiting for them in their own homes. The dark red trails follow him around wherever he goes. Even he cannot recognize himself anymore. He will never be the same person ever again. Falling to his knees, being in your presence makes all his worries go away; the guilt he has been carrying crashes him down. He wept in your arms, the person whom he did all of those things to bring back to these same arms.
“Would you fall in love with me again? With these disgusting hands I have? With almost non-existent conscience? Please fall in love with me again.” He begged, kneeling in front of you, rubbing his hands together just to be accepted by you. “Please take me back.” He pleads.
He saw the vibrant colors of heliotropes that were carefully planted in front of your small patio. He knew you took care of those flowers all these years while waiting for him to come back. It was the same heliotropes he once craved into the headboard of your bed, the same heliotropes he promised his love with, and the same heliotropes you used to bring under that Narra tree. It symbolizes the eternal love you have with him and the devotion for him– you waited all these years for him. “But this can’t be. I am not worthy of your love anymore. I am not your husband anymore.”
“If you are not worthy of my love anymore, could you please take your time to remove those heliotropes around this house?” His breath hitched, whole body frozen.
“Do you realize what you have asked me?” He carefully asked you, and now he is finally looking at you. He recognized the same beauty he once saw under that tree, the same eyes that looked at him with so much adoration and love. It was still the same despite the changed features all throughout the years he was absent. “You put all your love for those flowers, why would you want it gone?”
“Only my husband knew the love I have for those flowers, and my husband is the sole reason I planted those. So, I guess that makes him you.” Carefully tugging him closer to you, you both wept on your small patio. Loving Jeonghan is easy; you loved him in the past. You can love him again, and again, and again. No matter how many times it needed to be done. You will love him all the same.
Between sniffles, Jeonghan took his bag and brought out almost dried heliotropes from his bag. It was ragged, but the most precious heliotropes you ever received. “I got this while I was walking back home.” He said, placing the heliotropes on your hands.
You smiled, wiping his tears, “This is the most beautiful flower I ever received.” You said hugging him. “I am glad you are back. Welcome back home, my love.” You whispered.
From that day on, it was the last time he ever left your side. The once widowed wife at his small patio is now joined by her husband, enjoying their cup of tea, and lastly with beautiful pots of heliotropes around the home. She can finally call her home, home again.

“Hello, Chwe. Lab.”
“Hi Sir, ER. Y/n. Nasaan na po yung cross matching ni Valdez, Jake?”
“Ma’am kakarating lang ng specimen sa lab.”
“Ah. Paki bilisan na lang po, salamat.”
“Paki sabi yan sa centrifuge namin ma’am”
—
“Hello. ER. Y/n speaking.”
“Lab. Chwe. Walang label yung pinadala ninyong specimen dito, reject na po ito.”
“Huh?! Anong reject, kay De la Cruz yan. STAT order ni doc check for cardiac enzymes.”
“Protocol lang, ma’am.”
Letche. Papaano ko sasabihin na tusok nanaman ako? Letche talaga. LETCHE!!!
—
“Y/n. Er. Cross match, on the way na ba?”
“On the way na sana kung hindi ka tawag nang tawag. Mag isa lang po ako sa lab.”
—
“Hello! ER department. Y/n.”
“Lab. Chwe. Hemolyzed ‘yung specimen ni Lopez. Paredraw po.”
“Chwe from lab maawa ka saakin please. May edema patient na yan, kalahating oras akong kumukuha.”
“Bababa na lang ako d’yan.”
“Really?! Ambait mo ngayon. Salamat”
Ambastos parin, binabaan ako telepono.
—
“Lab. Chwe.”
“Nauubusan kana ba ng sasabihin?” I instigated.
“Scam call ba ‘to? Telepono po ‘to ng hospital, baka karmahin ka n’yan”
“No! ER, y/n. Follow up lang lab para kay Castro. Titignan kung bumaba na potassium hehe”
“Sige dalhin ko na lang dyan” sagot ng lalaki sa kabilang linya.
Noong binaba ko yung telepono, nakita ko namang nakatitig na saakin si Gabby.
“What?” I asked.
“Chwe. Lab?” nakisap mata niyang tanong.
“Oo?” patanong kong sagot.
“Gago bababa ba? Crush ko yun! Papacute muna ako sandali” dali dali naman niyang kinuha pouch niya at kumuha ng powder, blush on, at liptint. Which is nag refreshed up naman siya. She did look good naman.
I tried fixing her hair kahit naman bun naman.
“Vibes, beb. Vibes,” and right on cue. There is a boy waddling with his small tackle box containing the medtech goodies.
“Castro?” ‘man of few words’ that is how I describe him. Laging bababa yan dito, one word one word lang. Maybe siguro lagi kaming puksaan sa telepono? Maybe.
“Gabby, kay ma’am Castro raw. Samahan mo nga si sir Chwe” tatayo na sana si Gabby sa puwesto niya noong nakita kong kumunot noo niya.
“Hindi ba pasyente mo si Castro? Ba’t inuutos mo sakanya?” sabi niya kaya dahan-dahan din namang umupo si Gabby sa upuan niya.
“It’s a privilege na may mata tayo, Chwe.

Worried, I asked, “anong nangyari?” Kunot noo kong tanong.
This is kind of unfair if you asked me.
After noon, wala man lang pasalamat yung hayop na yun saakin?!
Thank you ha, Chwe. PWE!!!

“Y/n, ESI 2 yung bagong dating. Pa-administer O2. Pasuyo na rin 18g na suwero, in case mag transfuse tayo. Salamat.”
“Okay doc, on it na.” He is quite agitated pero it’s ER, normal lang yan dito.
So pinapunta muna ako sa mga nag vavaccine for prophylaxis vaccine.
We sat there in silence habang inaayos niya ang mga kagamitan niya.
Nang maupo siya sa harapan ko, it was an opportunity for me to look at him do his work. Gabby was right, Chwe is indeed a fine man. He’s actually up to my standards, pero I don’t think we would work up. We quarrel like cat and dog to be honest.
“For someone na araw-araw ‘to ginawa, ‘di ka ba marunong mag therapeutic communication dyan?”
“Wow alam mo pala buo kong pangalan,” amused kong sabi sakanya.
“Of course. Ikaw ang favorite kong nurse na tumatawag sa telepono eh,” mapang asar ata niyang sabi. Dahil ata tawag ako nang tawag para mag follow up ng request.
“Ewan ko sayo.”
Tatayo na sana ako para kunin lahat ng gamit ko para umalis nang naramdaman kong hinawakan niya braso ko.
“Y/n, sandali,” hesitant niyang sabi.
“Bakit?” Tanong ko sakanya.
“Sa susunod mag sabi ka saakin ha? Pinagpaalala mo talaga ako. Mag iingat sa susunod, okay?” I took a pause to digest what just he said at tinitigan lang siya thinking ano isasagot ko sa sinabi niya.
—
May nagawa ba akong mali?
“Gabby,” mahina kong tawag sakanya. “May mali kay Chwe from lab. Tingin mo ano nangyari sakanya?”
Baliw ka talaga self no? BA’T AKO UMIWAS? EH WALA NGA AKONG GINAGAWA?
“Yes please, thank you. Paupdate na lang pag nandyan na. Pasend na lang sa viber.”
And ayun, pataas nanaman ako sa lab. I mean lagi ko naman to ginagawa?
Or baka may tumubo nga?
Ano kasi. Pinapafollow up ni doc yung laboratory ni Jaime. Available na ba?” Wala parin talaga akong mabasang expression sakanya! Bakit ganon! Dati inaaway na ako neto ah!
“Hindi naman sa minamadali kita, ano. Sadyang need lang na ni doc.” Panaragdagan kong sabi.
“Chwe.” I paused, gathering all my courage which he hummed in response.
“May mali ba sa laboratory result ko? Bakit ‘di mo ako kinakausap?” Lakas loob kong tanong. And there he looked at me… Offended?
“Really, Y/n? Out of all, yun pinili mo?” He is amused.
“Eh bakit nga?” Pilit kong tanong.
“Y/n, matagal na kitang gusto. Kaya kita iniiwasan kasi nahiya akong nag slip up lang saakin yun noong nakaraan. My confession should be…” he paused, “somewhat romantic.”
“Chwe…” I was speechless at this point.
We were interrupted naman nang may dumating na ibang nurse para mag dala ng specimen which broke silence saaming dalawa.
“Mag stay ka after shift mo, dadaanan kita.”
Shit, fuck, tangina, shibal?? Ano oa bang mura pwede kong gamitin. Ano yun?
Diaper change? Say less. CPR? Kahit walang kapalitan sige go. Charts?
Gabby snort out laughed and said, “girl, as if. Tingin pay slip?”
“Labas ang payslip ko dito pre,” natatawa kong sabi habang nag fflashback saakin mga kaltas tulad ng sss, philhealth, tax, and friends. Letche tapos binabaha parin tayo? Crazy work.
Double fuck. After noon, I saw him walk towards our station. Triple fuck.
Okay, y/n. Hinga malalim.
“Y/n,” tawag niya saakin which caused me to jump in shock.
“Aatakihin ata ako sa puso.” Mahina kong sabi.
“Hindi ka pa ba uuwi?” Tanong niya.
“Y/n,” panimula niya.
“Chwe.” Dugtong ko. HINDI KO ALAM BAKIT AKO KINAKABAHAN OKAY???
“Y/n, I would like to take you out.” Deretsa niyang sagot. Instinctively, like a stupid homosapien, tumingin ako sa paligid and gestured, “nasa labas naman na tayo?”
“My god oblivious ka ba or gusto mo itawag ko na lang sa telepono para magkaintindihan tayo?” nakakunot niyang sabi which made me laugh. Laugh as in snorting, increase intraabdominal laugh.
“Legit ba? Kasi papatulan kita kung ‘di ka talaga nag bibiro.” Seryoso kong sabi sakanya.
“Mas sineryoso ko ‘to kesa sa swimming lessons namin noong college ako.”
“Libre mo ha, kape tayo ngayon.”
“Kahit sa pang habang buhay pa yan.”
“Medyo excessive yun.” Sabi ko sakanya at tinalikuran siya habang nag lakad na papunta sa exit ng hospital. I felt him ran behind me.
“Yeah, that’s a bit too much. Baka isipin mo patay na patay ako sayo.” Natatawa niyang sabi.
“Ay hindi ba? Pwede namang umuwi na lang ako tutal gabi naman na.” Agad naman niyang hinawakan ang braso ko and with those puppy eyes. I think I found my weakness.
“I’m just kidding.” He said.
“So, ano nagustuhan mo saakin?” Biro kong titig sakanya.
“Oh, please. Don’t push.”
“I was not?!” He retorts.
It was a cute banter para saaming dalawa na that would lead to a beautiful, blooming relationship for the both of us. Yet, of course. Guguluhin ko parin siya sa STAT request.

a/n: I MISS MY SOONYOUNG *ugly cries*
I would never expect myself to be buried in an unfamiliar sheet as soon as I wake up. With my head pounding, I tried to roam my eyes around the room to look for clues. And it dawned on me, this is not an unfamiliar place. Familiar gray sheets, familiar tiger plushy that is just neatly placed on the chair, familiar polaroids that are pinned on a corkboard on the wall, and lastly, a familiar face— a peaceful face that is sleeping beside me.
What is unfamiliar to me is the clothes scattered around the bed. Which is ironic because I know damn well that half of those clothes are mine.
Then it hit me, I realized. It’s obvious at this point. My naked body, naked boy beside me, clothes scattered like as if we were were raided or some shit last night. Something happened. Something that I would never expect me to find myself in this situation.
“Fuck… fuck… fuck… fuck…” I mumbled as I slapped myself and tried to find my phone in this whole messy oblivion, but failed miserably.
I really tried my best not to wake Soonyoung up, yet again. Failed miserably. It’s only 9am and I am already failing life.
“Y/n…?” It is obvious to his raspy voice that he just woke up, and still the whole ordeal is still not dawning on him. I quickly wrapped my heavily obvious, naked tits with the shared blanket. Actually, the ONLY blanket available. “Why are you naked?” He asked OBLIVIOUSLY.
“Say that to yourself,” I said, pissed. I tugged the blanket to cover myself and pick up my clothes.
“Holy fuck.” Yup, NOW he realized. He, also, scrambled around and took his clothes to clothe himself. I was also dressing myself up when he stuttered saying, “Y/n, go to the bathroom. DAMN.” He said as he saw me naked which he then look away.
“You were moaning to my ears last night, Nyoung. You were inside of me. You were touching every inch of my body—“ he quickly dismissed my words, still not believing everything.
“Shut up, shut up, shut up, shut up. Let’s figure this out.” He said with arms on his waist, just wearing his grey sweatpants at the moment. He seems like he had no regard for his tshirt, so instead of me wearing my kind-of-uncomfortable clothes. I wore his and left the room.
“Wait Y/n!” He followed me behind. I took no mind and just went directly to his kitchen to cook breakfast for both of us.
What happened last night was somewhat unclear to me. Bits of those memories are blurry for me, and I don’t know if I forgot some of it. But all I was sure was sleeping with Soonyoung is not one of my plans last night.
All we planned last night was to celebrate both our birthdays with our friends. It has been a tradition for both of us. Being in the same friend group and sharing the same birthday. I have been sharing the same celebration with him.
Last night was full of… alcohol. Given the amount of alcohol, bad decisions are made. After our friends left Soonyoung’s condo, I was the one who insisted to be left behind and help Nyoung clean up the mess since this is also my birthday celebration. Alcohol was yet again consumed, then I caught myself sharing a kiss with him with the most devious, sloppiest, lust induced, alcohol induced, every induced matter with him. I did catch myself moaning out his name that night and enjoying every bit of it. I could say that he was feeling the same way as me.
“Should we talk about it?” He asked behind you, still scrabbling around. Yes, I could tell just by the way his hair is also scrambled around.
“We can either yes or no.” I tried to be nonchalant about it because I, too, don’t know what to do. Because we definitely cannot go back like it used to. Like Camilla Cabello said, ‘but friends don’t know what you taste lalala,’ or something.
“Let’s not talk about it now, but promise me we will have this talk later, okay?” He said. I faced him and carefully looked at his expression. I can see that he is mixed with confusion, worry, and almost like a pleading face to me. “Let’s get our thoughts organized before we talk.”
“Of course,” I said as I scratched his chin, which lightened up his mood.
“Really?!” He said in his most baby girl voice and snuggled up to me.
“Ew, get away from me,” I shooed him away with my spatula.
“Right, let me recall how much you moaned my name last night,” I quickly kicked his shin and continued frying my eggs.
“By the way, happy birthday, Y/n.” he said sincerely.
“Happy birthday to you too, Nyoung.” I said. Smiling.
After that breakfast, I celebrated my birthday with my family, and so did Soonyoung. We lived the rest of our day separately. Completely setting a side the chaos happened during that dawn of our birthday.
But I would be lying if I said that our dawn kept on repeating in my head again and again and again as I regain my sobriety, along with my memories of that dawn.
I feel like his tongue is still against my neck, sucking my tits until it leaves bruises on them, his fingers against my body, his whispers telling me how I was obeying him so well, me wrapping my thighs around his head, and seeing these bruises he left behind is not helping at all.
Days have passed, but the talk did not even occur.
I don’t know what happened, but it really just didn't happen at all. Maybe we got caught up in our jobs and got too busy? I don’t know. I still catch myself thinking about it despite being busy with my work. I don’t know if he felt the same way.
However, I then received a text from him.
I complete forgot that Wonwoo’s birthday is around the corner. That’s why I agreed to tag along. Yes, just buying gifts.
I stood up from my rotting bed, took a shower, and throw a hoodie on me with shorts just to be comfortable. On the latter moments, I heard a honk of Nyoung’s car outside.
The whole car ride was somewhat… Quiet. Awkward. Every synonym you could think of. This is us meeting again after that unfortunate night.
Soonyoung tried to break the ice by talking about the weather and stuff but the conversation died down quickly on how unnatural the conversation was.
Arriving at the mall, we stroll through the department store with whatever Wonwoo might fancy receiving as a gift for his Mañanita birthday as well. I’m getting war flashbacks with this all Mañanita thing.
“Oh, I tried the pimple patch that chan suggested. It was quite well. You should try it out.”
[picture me this:
you’re welcome]
I didn’t catch what he was saying and only responded with “What?”. Which he just followed with him tapping his cheeks.
I got flustered, and out of panic, I placed a chaste kiss on his cheeks where he is tapping. He paused for a while and stopped walking, and looked at me intently.
“Fuck. I’m sorry. My bad. What were you saying again?” I said, scrambling with my words, panicking.
“What was that for?” he said. I briskly walked far away, pretending to look for gifts for Wonwoo, but in reality, I was scrambling my head for a reason why I did that. HE WAS TAPPING HIS CHEEKS?! HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO INTERPRET THAT? What was he even talking about? I, TOO, DON’T KNOW WHAT HE MEANT BY HIM TAPPING HIS CHEEKS. God. I am so stupid. Stupid. Stupid. Stupid. I said, while pulling my hair— quietly, in front of these random mugs.
Yes, Wonwoo would love a good mug. I will be getting Him a mug and ditch the scene.
I am so stupid, a coward, gutless, a wimp, a milquetoast, nervous nellie, and synonyms. Merriam-Webster should be proud of me at this point.
Nyoung is right, I could’ve just tell him. However, everything piles up, and now my stupid ass augmented a thing to discuss with Soonyoung WITHOUT discussing the previous event with him. I am soooooo stupid. How am I going to show up for Wons’ birthday? Should I just skip it? NAHHH, Wonwoo has been a good friend to me, a small gathering for his birthday is the least thing I can do for him. BUT HE IS A GOOD FRIEND. He will understand if I lie, saying I suddenly have diarrhea? BUT Soonyoung might think I am avoiding him!
But that’s the goal, to avoid him. I just want to avoid him WITHOUT him knowing. Is that even possible?? I DON’T KNOW!! Stop asking me questions I don’t know!!!
I might as well just sob on the side and think for what my stooopid ass just did.
BUT I CAN’T!!! THE DAWN AND THE KISS JUST KEEPS ON REPEATING ON MY HEAD!!! I am going insane to be honest.
Yes, I should pick up an overtime this days. Yes. Great solution.
After the overtime I did for a whole week. A call from Vernon was received.
“Yo, I brought the cake for the Mañanita. What are you bringing?” he loudly asked. I think that guy had a great day. He is so fucking loud.
“Was about to bring the cake not until you called— screaming at my ear that you will be bringing the cake.” I said while trying to gather my things to go home from a 12 hours shift.
“Cranky. Why?” He instigates.
“I am about to clock out from work, give me a break.”
“Sure, I’ll decide what you bring. You know, with all your decision fatigue.” He suggested. He’s right though. That’s why I was planning to bring cake because I really don’t want to do mental gymnastics to think what to bring. “Bring barbecue.”
“On it.” I ended the call and made an arrangement for wherever I could get a bunch of BBQ from this event.
Arriving at Wonwoo’s apartment, I saw Vernon’s cake on the table and the others’ food they brought. I placed down my BBQ on the pile and sat on his couch. Taking a deep breath because this week has been so tiring. It’s my fault, btw. If I was’t a bitch ass. I looked around and tried finding Soonyoung in the crowd, but failed to spot him. Maybe he is the one who is avoiding me?
All that theory was thrown out of the window when I saw Soonyoung loudly open the door with alcohol on his arms, yelling, “BROOOO HAPPY BIRTHDAY. DUDE, YOU ARE AGINGGG.” He placed down the drinks and gave Wonwoo a hug.
His eyes caught mine, but I quickly looked away and walked directly to Vernon’s crowd and tried my very best to mingle.
The whole day, we were trying to avoid each other (which we are failing to do so), we were standing beside each other when we were singing Wonwoo his birthday song, we were side by side when we were eating the feast, and worst, we are sitting by each other while we gather around the dining table to drink alcohol.
I tried all my will to dodge their alcohol pass to me. I tried saying I have a shift for tomorrow, but was reminded how tomorrow is a Saturday, which means there is no duty for that. I hate that I shared my schedule with Jihyo. I tried saying I am on my sobriety journey, but was just laughed off by Jeonghan himself because he has a photo of me chugging a fucking black label from the event we attended. Which BTW was my birthday.
“No fucking way, are you pregnant?!” Sana shouted. All eyes met mine, especially Soonyoung’s. His was panicking while everybody’s was shocked. His reaction shouts guilt with his eyes.
I immediately grabbed Jeonghan’s shot glass and chugged it, “Fuck no.” I debunked the accusations.
“You know it’s weird that you reject alcohol. You love alcohol.” Wonwoo said.
“You make it sound like I really should start my sobriety journey.” I joked.
Not long after, their discussion was diverted to something else which I get relief. But it was long cut after when I felt Soonyoung hands on mine.
Just like that dawn. His hands started playing around with the lace behind my back, and eventually, he had his hands around my waist. That whole night, his hands were alternating between my sides and thighs. Whispering in my earlobes if he can do such things.
“You like it when my fingertips lace with your clothes?”
“You dress up nice today.”
“Just checking if I am still invited to these thighs.”
“Are you still enjoying our night?”
Subtly building the tension around both of us. Which led to something we still cannot talk about to this date.
I felt the shivers down to my spine when I felt him pull me closer to him, whispering in my earlobes saying, “Let’s talk. Now. On the balcony.” And he left for balcony.
Oh now? Damn. Bossy. Before I got up, I took a shot with no chaser. Just the burning sensation down to my throat to calm the nerves. Damn, I really do need to stop drinking.
As soon as I stepped outside the balcony, I saw Soonyoung just standing, leaning on the rails with his arms on his pockets.
“Yo…” I said, buckling up with whatever he wants to discuss.
“Are you pregnant?” with no pause, Hi-s, Hello-s, he went straight to business.
“What?! No! I have implants. And I’m pretty sure we used condoms.” I said. He did not react; he was just looking at me. I feel like I said a really bad thing.
“I will take responsibility.” He pushed. Now, why did everyone keep on insisting I am pregnant? That’s bad luck!
“I swear to God, I am not pregnant. What I want you to take responsibility for is what is going to happen to both of us after that night?” I asked, meeting his eyes.
“You kissed me on the cheek. What does that mean?” He asked me back.
“Soonyoung, we had sex. I am pretty sure a little peck on the cheek meant nothing.”
“I was hoping it meant something for both of us.” I was taken aback by what he said. I feel like I had whiplash after hearing those words. “Well, it at least meant something to me. Not until you ditched me in the middle of the mall. Clueless.”
“Look, I am so sorry for leaving you behind. I thought you were asking for it!”
“I was showing you my pimple patch, y/n.” Then it hit me. He was showing his yellow star patch. Realizing this made my face heat up in embarrassment. I covered my face with both of my palms, hiding my face from him.
“I am asking for a kiss tonight though. If you are still willing to give it to me. I wouldn’t mind.” He said, holding my wrist. All I did was shake my head in embarrassment.
“Come on, y/n. This is my way of saying I love you and that night has been bothering me all day, all week.” He now catches my attention. “Way before that night, I was planning to confess. Weighing if I should sacrifice this friendship or confess my feelings. I was hoping for a happy ending for us. And now I feel like a shit because I could’ve said it straight up and not mess up. Sleeping with you was not part of my plan at all, but still one of the best nights I've had.”
He said it with his whole heart, looking at me with those yearning eyes with tears flowing down to his cheek.
“I know it was wrong for me to do that first, and it is not enough reason to say that I was influenced by alcohol. I hope you forgive me.” His head is now low, holding my fingertips to play with it.
I smiled, seeing how vulnerable Soonyoung is. With my other hand, I reached for his hair and played with it.
“It’s okay. That dawn was something else.” I chuckled. “But I am willing to explore these feelings with you, Nyoung.” His head never raised this fast to look at me, with twinkling eyes, he said, “Really?!” I nodded.
He quickly scooped me up against his arms and twirled me around, kissing me on my cheeks. After putting me down, he placed a gentle, chaste kiss on my forehead and placed his against mine.
“I promise you, you will never regret this decision.” He said.
“You should make yourself worthy,” I said, smiling. I reached for his cheeks and pulled him into a proper kiss.
The kiss was different from that night. This was full of hope, love, and a promise. It was the same soft lips against mine but now it was full of vows.
“I love you, y/n.” He said. Snuggling me up into a hug.

“Hello, Chwe. Lab.”
“Hi Sir, ER. Y/n. Nasaan na po yung cross matching ni Valdez, Jake?”
“Ma’am kakarating lang ng specimen sa lab.”
“Ah. Paki bilisan na lang po, salamat.”
“Paki sabi yan sa centrifuge namin ma’am”
—
“Hello. ER. Y/n speaking.”
“Lab. Chwe. Walang label yung pinadala ninyong specimen dito, reject na po ito.”
“Huh?! Anong reject, kay De la Cruz yan. STAT order ni doc check for cardiac enzymes.”
“Protocol lang, ma’am.”
Letche. Papaano ko sasabihin na tusok nanaman ako? Letche talaga. LETCHE!!!
—
“Y/n. Er. Cross match, on the way na ba?”
“On the way na sana kung hindi ka tawag nang tawag. Mag isa lang po ako sa lab.”
—
“Hello! ER department. Y/n.”
“Lab. Chwe. Hemolyzed ‘yung specimen ni Lopez. Paredraw po.”
“Chwe from lab maawa ka saakin please. May edema patient na yan, kalahating oras akong kumukuha.”
“Bababa na lang ako d’yan.”
“Really?! Ambait mo ngayon. Salamat”
Ambastos parin, binabaan ako telepono.
—
“Lab. Chwe.”
“Nauubusan kana ba ng sasabihin?” I instigated.
“Scam call ba ‘to? Telepono po ‘to ng hospital, baka karmahin ka n’yan”
“No! ER, y/n. Follow up lang lab para kay Castro. Titignan kung bumaba na potassium hehe”
“Sige dalhin ko na lang dyan” sagot ng lalaki sa kabilang linya.
Noong binaba ko yung telepono, nakita ko namang nakatitig na saakin si Gabby.
“What?” I asked.
“Chwe. Lab?” nakisap mata niyang tanong.
“Oo?” patanong kong sagot.
“Gago bababa ba? Crush ko yun! Papacute muna ako sandali” dali dali naman niyang kinuha pouch niya at kumuha ng powder, blush on, at liptint. Which is nag refreshed up naman siya. She did look good naman.
I tried fixing her hair kahit naman bun naman.
“Vibes, beb. Vibes,” and right on cue. There is a boy waddling with his small tackle box containing the medtech goodies.
“Castro?” ‘man of few words’ that is how I describe him. Laging bababa yan dito, one word one word lang. Maybe siguro lagi kaming puksaan sa telepono? Maybe.
“Gabby, kay ma’am Castro raw. Samahan mo nga si sir Chwe” tatayo na sana si Gabby sa puwesto niya noong nakita kong kumunot noo niya.
“Hindi ba pasyente mo si Castro? Ba’t inuutos mo sakanya?” sabi niya kaya dahan-dahan din namang umupo si Gabby sa upuan niya.
“It’s a privilege na may mata tayo, Chwe.

Worried, I asked, “anong nangyari?” Kunot noo kong tanong.
This is kind of unfair if you asked me.
After noon, wala man lang pasalamat yung hayop na yun saakin?!
Thank you ha, Chwe. PWE!!!

“Y/n, ESI 2 yung bagong dating. Pa-administer O2. Pasuyo na rin 18g na suwero, in case mag transfuse tayo. Salamat.”
“Okay doc, on it na.” He is quite agitated pero it’s ER, normal lang yan dito.
So pinapunta muna ako sa mga nag vavaccine for prophylaxis vaccine.
We sat there in silence habang inaayos niya ang mga kagamitan niya.
Nang maupo siya sa harapan ko, it was an opportunity for me to look at him do his work. Gabby was right, Chwe is indeed a fine man. He’s actually up to my standards, pero I don’t think we would work up. We quarrel like cat and dog to be honest.
“For someone na araw-araw ‘to ginawa, ‘di ka ba marunong mag therapeutic communication dyan?”
“Wow alam mo pala buo kong pangalan,” amused kong sabi sakanya.
“Of course. Ikaw ang favorite kong nurse na tumatawag sa telepono eh,” mapang asar ata niyang sabi. Dahil ata tawag ako nang tawag para mag follow up ng request.
“Ewan ko sayo.”
Tatayo na sana ako para kunin lahat ng gamit ko para umalis nang naramdaman kong hinawakan niya braso ko.
“Y/n, sandali,” hesitant niyang sabi.
“Bakit?” Tanong ko sakanya.
“Sa susunod mag sabi ka saakin ha? Pinagpaalala mo talaga ako. Mag iingat sa susunod, okay?” I took a pause to digest what just he said at tinitigan lang siya thinking ano isasagot ko sa sinabi niya.
—
May nagawa ba akong mali?
“Gabby,” mahina kong tawag sakanya. “May mali kay Chwe from lab. Tingin mo ano nangyari sakanya?”
Baliw ka talaga self no? BA’T AKO UMIWAS? EH WALA NGA AKONG GINAGAWA?
“Yes please, thank you. Paupdate na lang pag nandyan na. Pasend na lang sa viber.”
And ayun, pataas nanaman ako sa lab. I mean lagi ko naman to ginagawa?
Or baka may tumubo nga?
Ano kasi. Pinapafollow up ni doc yung laboratory ni Jaime. Available na ba?” Wala parin talaga akong mabasang expression sakanya! Bakit ganon! Dati inaaway na ako neto ah!
“Hindi naman sa minamadali kita, ano. Sadyang need lang na ni doc.” Panaragdagan kong sabi.
“Chwe.” I paused, gathering all my courage which he hummed in response.
“May mali ba sa laboratory result ko? Bakit ‘di mo ako kinakausap?” Lakas loob kong tanong. And there he looked at me… Offended?
“Really, Y/n? Out of all, yun pinili mo?” He is amused.
“Eh bakit nga?” Pilit kong tanong.
“Y/n, matagal na kitang gusto. Kaya kita iniiwasan kasi nahiya akong nag slip up lang saakin yun noong nakaraan. My confession should be…” he paused, “somewhat romantic.”
“Chwe…” I was speechless at this point.
We were interrupted naman nang may dumating na ibang nurse para mag dala ng specimen which broke silence saaming dalawa.
“Mag stay ka after shift mo, dadaanan kita.”
Shit, fuck, tangina, shibal?? Ano oa bang mura pwede kong gamitin. Ano yun?
Diaper change? Say less. CPR? Kahit walang kapalitan sige go. Charts?
Gabby snort out laughed and said, “girl, as if. Tingin pay slip?”
“Labas ang payslip ko dito pre,” natatawa kong sabi habang nag fflashback saakin mga kaltas tulad ng sss, philhealth, tax, and friends. Letche tapos binabaha parin tayo? Crazy work.
Double fuck. After noon, I saw him walk towards our station. Triple fuck.
Okay, y/n. Hinga malalim.
“Y/n,” tawag niya saakin which caused me to jump in shock.
“Aatakihin ata ako sa puso.” Mahina kong sabi.
“Hindi ka pa ba uuwi?” Tanong niya.
“Y/n,” panimula niya.
“Chwe.” Dugtong ko. HINDI KO ALAM BAKIT AKO KINAKABAHAN OKAY???
“Y/n, I would like to take you out.” Deretsa niyang sagot. Instinctively, like a stupid homosapien, tumingin ako sa paligid and gestured, “nasa labas naman na tayo?”
“My god oblivious ka ba or gusto mo itawag ko na lang sa telepono para magkaintindihan tayo?” nakakunot niyang sabi which made me laugh. Laugh as in snorting, increase intraabdominal laugh.
“Legit ba? Kasi papatulan kita kung ‘di ka talaga nag bibiro.” Seryoso kong sabi sakanya.
“Mas sineryoso ko ‘to kesa sa swimming lessons namin noong college ako.”
“Libre mo ha, kape tayo ngayon.”
“Kahit sa pang habang buhay pa yan.”
“Medyo excessive yun.” Sabi ko sakanya at tinalikuran siya habang nag lakad na papunta sa exit ng hospital. I felt him ran behind me.
“Yeah, that’s a bit too much. Baka isipin mo patay na patay ako sayo.” Natatawa niyang sabi.
“Ay hindi ba? Pwede namang umuwi na lang ako tutal gabi naman na.” Agad naman niyang hinawakan ang braso ko and with those puppy eyes. I think I found my weakness.
“I’m just kidding.” He said.
“So, ano nagustuhan mo saakin?” Biro kong titig sakanya.
“Oh, please. Don’t push.”
“I was not?!” He retorts.
It was a cute banter para saaming dalawa na that would lead to a beautiful, blooming relationship for the both of us. Yet, of course. Guguluhin ko parin siya sa STAT request.
Warnings: protected sex, penetration, just usual smut stuff. do tell if i missed something.

Squeaks of rubber shoes against the floor, ball hitting the arms of someone are one of the things you are hearing right now while you pant in exhaustion— catching your breath and clutching your water bottle on hand.
“Y/n,” you heard someone say your name, sitting beside you. His warmth is now radiating beside you as he is also taking a break with the whole training fiasco.
Grabbing your hand, he quickly snatched your water bottle and drank up your remaining water. You watch him drink as his adam’s apple, dabbling while he finishes up your water.
“You and your good trusty water bottle,” he said, bringing back your water bottle in his hand, giving you a smile as a thank you that definitely takes your breath away a bit.
“You really think my water bottle dispenses unlimited water?” you said, looking at him in disbelief. He gave you a chuckle, which you just responded to by rolling your eyes.
Seungkwan has always been your friend. For as long as you could remember. Ever since you started playing volleyball, you think? It's a thing that your mother forced you to do during your summer break that somehow you learned to love to the point that you are a varsity player now during your college days. That is when you met this man who kept on drinking and finishing your water ever since.
If you know that he will end up consuming ALL your water in the future (now), you could've chosen to be the shitter person and not given him the water back then. You could've been hydrated by now. Now, he abuses his power over you. But Seungkwan is someone you cannot get off your back anymore, up until now. And now, you are stuck with him. Not that you mind. But you do mind him wasting your water.
"I know you love me, Y/n," he scoffed. You stood up from your seat and brought your bottle to the nearest water dispenser to fetch some water for both of you.
"Hey, you wanna come by to my place later? I will be making a large batch of tteokbokki. I am kinda craving for some," he said, tailing you behind.
"I see that you can walk on your own. Why not fetch your own water next time? Mhm, Seungkwan?" you said, not looking behind. In fact, you knew damn well that he would be tailing you behind.
"It's better when it's marinated with your own saliva."
"That's the most disgusting statement I've ever heard in my life. Swear. Plus, you could just cook a smaller batch of tteok. Why do I need to accompany you?" you asked while refilling your water bottle and placing your unoccupied hands on your waist.
"Eating is better when you get to share it with someone you know. Plus, I kinda accidentally bought so much because of my stupid ass shitty comprehension at the time," he sighed.
"Why? What happened? Did somebody scam you?" you asked in confusion and also out of concern.
"No. The vendor offered me a buy 1 take 1 tteok. It was a great deal, really. I said I would be getting 2. I left the store with 4 packs of tteok," he explained.
"That's really stupid," you shamed him, then drank from your bottle.
"I know, that's why I am asking you over to my place."
"I'll think about it," and that was your cue to return to court because your coach has been yelling out both of your surnames for the final drills.
At the end, you decided to just go with Seungkwan to his dorm since tteokbboki sounds so good after this whole exhausting practice.
After leaving the women's locker area, you saw Seungkwan just casually scrolling through his phone with his usual white tee and shorts, with his duffle bag clinging so casually on his shoulder.
You stood there for a while just admiring the scene you had in front of you before he noticed your presence. Seeing you, he pocketed his phone and nodded a bit, signaling for both of you to go.
"Can I take a second shower at your dorm? I really hate the communal bath here. I feel like I am just removing the stickiness of my sweat, but the unknown bacteria I could get there scares me", you state.
"Sure," he answered, "I am pretty sure you are much dirtier than those stalls, but whatever you say." After hearing those, you kicked his calves, which made him yelp and run after you as soon as he saw you fleeing the scene of the crime.
"Y/n, come back!"
----
Seungkwan's dorm is a familiar place to you. You memorized his place in the back of your head as you spent most of your time here with him.
Dropping your bag on his couch and getting your essential things for your long awaited bathe.
"Y/n, tteok is finished. Are you that disgusting to be bathing that long?" he yelled.
"Fuck you," you yelled back. After getting out of the bathroom, you found him just scrolling through his ipad and sitting by the center table with tteokboki on it. In haste, you sat beside him and took the fork, grabbing a bite of the tteok, which you sighed in satisfaction. He makes as good tteok, you thought to yourself.
"I've been eyeing this movie for a while, we will watch it whether you like it or not," she said, turning on his ipad and placing it beside the tteok, opening the movie he was taking about. You really couldn't protest against whatever he wanted to do in his life. Hey, free lounging and a movie? Count me in.
With an empty plate on the table, both of you and Seungkwan really found the movie bizarre in your liking.
"Really? This? You have an incredibly bad taste in movie," criticizing his pick.
"It's just a film I saw on tiktok while scrolling. Those with an AI voiceover. I never thought that this is THAT bad," he emphasized, "at this point, it's try not to cringe challenge for both of us."
"Yeah, clearly. Both of the leads are now eating each other's faces like that. Damn, why does he devour her face like that?" I felt him shift beside you, but you gave too little care as you were focused on how both of the leads are making out.
"Look! He really is feeling up himself with this scene." You pointed out, "Man, the yearning. Personally, I think no one can talk me through all of THAT."
"Really?" You heard him say, and through your peripheral view, you can see him raise his brows while smirking— looking at you intently. You tried your best not to acknowledge, as you feel your face and ears heat up, and turn your back on him.
You felt him touch and play with your earlobes, which sent a spark down to your spine, and you immediately jerked your hand to remove his hands from your earlobes.
"Stop that!" You can't help but blush. How could you not? He is looking at you like that with someone whimpering through the speakers of the ipad. It made you aware of how much of a man Seungkwan truly is. How sharp his jaw is that complements his cheeks, that you really want to touch right now and pull him into a kiss.
"What?" he asked with a knowing look. You weren't sure if he knew what kind of impact he was making right now. And that is what drives you insane.
Your eyes start to roam around his body from his jaw to his neck, chest, and back to his eyes, which are now looking at you with those passionate eyes.
"I can try talking you through it if you let me," he smirked.
Stunned, uttering and scrambling through your words, you said, "I doubt," trying to escape his gaze.
"Try me," he said, grabbing your jaw to face him again. You collected all your courage to face him, which makes you gulp with your own saliva.
"You can start by giving me a taste of your lips, angel."
No words, you were stunned, panicking what to do— weighing the pros and cons if you were to kiss him. But it was him who first broke the rule.
“Motherfucker” you said, cupping both of his cheeks and kissing him passionately. Both of your mouths are moving harmoniously as if both of you were made for each other.
It was Seungkwan who first unraveled from the kiss and said, “get on my lap, love”. Which you did. Hopping on his by thighs is the easiest thing to do and you hopped so embarrassingly fast and went right back again to kissing.
You never knew that his lips were this angelic, soft, and too addicting to your liking. Its the sexual tension was driving you both in the dimly lit dorm. Moans and pants are the only thing you could hear in this room and the movie you were watching was long gone.
“Kwan…” you moaned as you felt his hand roam under your shirt and unclasping your bra.
“Mhm?” he hummed as his kisses travels down to your neck to your cleavage which he decided to leave marks.
“Is this the right time to confess that I am inexperienced with this?” you confessed, bitting your lips, waiting for his reaction. He quickly stopped his movements and looked back to you.
“Wait, really?” you nodded. “I know its embarrassing, we can stop if you—“
“No. My concern is…” he took a pause, examining your expression. “do you trust me? Are you alright with us progressing things?” he asked.
“I would rather have my first with you, kwan” you said and tangled your fingers through his hair and kissed him hungrily, “I don’t know what I am doing though,” you laughed in between kisses.
“Don’t worry. I can talk you through it,” he smirked. You felt his hands tugging your tshirt, and with one swift move, he was able to remove your shirt and bra at the same time which made you flustered a bit. You tried covering up your tits but he held your hands and started bringing your nipples up to his mouth. The sudden contact made you yelp in pleasure as this is a new feeling for you. You felt his tongue running through your nipple. While his other hand is playing with your other nipple. It was stimulating your pleasure and you are very vocal about how good it felt.
“Seungkwan… mhm… ah shit,” you said, tugging his hair. Underneath, you felt him building up a tent in his sweats, which prompts you to grind your hips against this hard tent.
“Ah fuck” he mumbled, “can you please slow down for me? We wouldn’t want to bust in the first minute, no?” he whispered to your ear, which you promptly slowed down your grind on him. “Good girl,” he said, letting out a triumphant sigh.
“Can you stand on your knees for me for a moment?” he asked you nicely, which made you obey his words mindlessly. After seeing him smile, you felt his lips traveling from your neck to your sternum, to your abdomen, and to your navel. You, on the other hand, are massaging his scalp to keep your hands busy.
“You never told me that you taste this good,” he mumbled. His arms wrapping around your thighs, he reached out for your clothed clit and massaged it a bit, which made you squeal— collapsing on his thighs.
Seungkwan chuckled a bit, finding you adorable at this point. It was really news for him that you are still inexperienced with this kind of stuff.
He grabbed you by your ass and laid you down on his couch. Not breaking eye contact, he removed his shirt in front of you, which revealed a perfectly toned body that made you drool over it.
“One last time y/n. Are you really willing to do this with me?” he confirmed, making sure he is not breaking any boundaries with you and making sure that this is not a one sided thing.
“Yes,” you said, anticipating his next move, reaching out for his hips, trying to exploit the privilege served right in front of you.
“Whatever you wish, princess” Seungkwan did not waste any time and pulled your shorts and panties at the same time.
“Damn, girl. I haven't done much, and you are this wet?” he stated in a matter-of-fact tone which spreading the said wetness from vagina to vulva. “Tell me what you feel,” He said, fingering your clit in a circular motion which made you shut your thighs— trapping his hands in between, moaning out his name relentlessly.
“Use your words please” he cooed.
“Good,” you managed to say it even though you were choking on your own words.
“Good. However, I would like you to open up for me, please,” he said, bringing your legs up to his shoulders. And before you know it, his lips are against your clit.
“Fuck,” you mumbled disorientedly, just focused on how much pleasure you get. You felt him lapping his tongue against your clit, which made you clench— spilling out your wetness more. But for him, it wasn’t enough. While he roams his tongue around your clit, you feel his digits slowly creeping inside you, which makes you force out a loud moan.
Satisfied, Seungkwan moaned, you felt the vibration through your clit and felt his fingers thrusting inside you in a slow but sure pace. He was constantly hitting your g-spot, just pleasure running through your veins.
“Seungkwan, I can feel a pressure. Please” you moaned which made Seungkwan hasten his pace, adding additional fingers inside of you.
You felt a sudden burst of euphoria which made you clench around his fingers.
“Fuck” he let out as a response to you coming, “such a behave girl,” he said while crawling back to your lips. In your curiosity, you bring your hands over his clothed hard on that made you gasp with how big he is compared to your hands. He is indeed lengthy and girthy, which makes you think if it would be possible to fit that inside of you.
“Ah! Y/n…” he said, breathes out, “Let’s take this to my room, shall we?” he asked while nibbling your neck— you respond with a nod, unable to speak as you are overstimulated with this new feeling.
He carefully picked you up, wrapping your legs around his waist, and immediately brought you to his room. As soon as you arrived in his room, he gently placed you on his bed. He removed his pants and took a condom from his side table, which he carefully placed the condom.
“You have them on stock?” you asked, amused. “This is a judgment-free zone, just so you know,” he chuckled. And there you saw his hard on. It was in its fully erected form, which made you gasp a bit, still calculating if it would fit in you. You tried to gulp the nervousness, trying to keep your cool.
He then joins you on the bed and crawls on top of you. Placing a chaste kiss on top of your forehead. “I promise not to hurt you, okay? Are you ready?” he asked in your ears.
“Yes,” you mumbled. You tried to hold your breath when you felt his tip slipping inside of you. Which Seungkwan immediately noticed, “Y/n, breathe. Okay? Breathe for me. It’s okay,” he said in a gentle tone of voice, cooing you to remove the nervousness. You felt his hands gently caressing your hair, massaging the scalp, and him whispering how good it would feel to take his dick inside of you.
“Yes, Y/n. You are doing great. Can you please hold it for me?” he said, letting you adjust to his size. After he felt you clenching around him, he gently thrust into you, making you a moaning mess.
“Are you alright?” he asked, still maintaining the slowest pace he could do, even though he wanted to ruin your insides right there and then. But he controlled himself. He needed to be gentle with you.
“Y-yes,” you answered with a shaky voice. “Please don’t hold back,” you requested on his ear. Biting his lips, he said, “You might regret saying that”.
“If we are going to do this, we can at least do it right, no?” and that was his cue. Increasing his pace, grunting in your ear.
You felt his hands on your hips, anchoring you down. You couldn’t help but be a whimpering mess under him. Scratching his back, moaning on his neck, which you tried sucking on to divert the pleasuring pain that lingers in your whole body.
With his cock buried inside of you, hitting that sweet spot of yours. “Yes, Seungkwan. That one. Mhm…” He knew that he needed to maintain the pace for your pleasure.
Sweat forming on both of your foreheads and only hearing the skin slapping from between the two of you, the melody of both of your moans, the smell of sex inside the room. This is making you feel closer.
Clenching around him and him twitching inside of you, you lightly tapped his back, “I’m close,” you mumbled.
“Me too,” He said, hastening his movements, moaning your name. As soon as you felt your release, you felt his warm cum released inside his condom. And him collapsing on top of you, panting.
“No drills had made me this worn out before” you said, panting.
“It’s a pleasure to hear,” Seungkwan chuckled as you playfully hit his back. Still inside of you, Seungkwan decided not to move yet, while both of you are still trying to come down from the high. He wrapped his arms around you. Sharing an intimate space is an understatement at this point.
“Y/n,” he whispered under his breath. You replied with a short hum for acknowledgement.
“Let’s not treat each other indifferently, hm?”
“Of course” you replied.
“You promise?” he asked, looking directly to your eye.
“I promise,” you chuckled, finding this whole ordeal unreal.
"I told you, everything is better with your saliva," he laughs.
"That's disgusting," you brushed him off, then snuggling onto his arms. "Bring your own tumbler."
"No, yours are better." After a bit of snuggling, Seungkwan carefully pulled out and wiped you down with his wet wipes beside his table. After he felt like he had cleaned you well, he carried you, bridal style, to his restroom.
“Where are we headed?” you ask, still worn out.
“You need to pee,” he said simply, "Go piss, queen." After he said that, you laughed at his antics. It really felt like there was nothing new with this friendship, and you are glad for that because you never imagined what life would be without Seungkwan in it.
After a quick bath for both of you, you found yourself cuddling with your best friend in his bed.

It was a cold, breezy night. A stick between my fingers, I puffed it— inhaling through the smoke.
Unknownly, there was someone creeping behind me, which interrupted my peace and made me cough out the smoke.
“Did I scare you?” he said whilst looking at the same overview of the city I was looking at.
“A bit, yeah,” I responded with a firm press of my cigarette between my lips.
“I thought you were sober with this whole nicotine thing,” he asked, still looking at the city lights.
Hearing those words I tried to look for his eyes. But seeing how much he fancies looking at those small, lit lights beneath us, I chose to stop chasing those orbits.
“Well, yeah, I did,” I explained, exhaling the same smoke— “Ever since we broke up, it was you who convinced me to stop after all. Of course, losing you meant I would be going back to my old habits. Muscle memory, I guess.
I heard him let out a small titter, followed by a sigh.
“I didn’t mean to be hostile towards you,” I immediately explained.
“No offense taken,”
With silence covering both of us, I can sense him looking at me through my peripherals. The same eyes I was trying to look at earlier, but this time, I am scared to look at.
His eyes are something. It was still the same almond-shaped eyes, with these dark orbits that sparkle when you look at them. It was even complemented by how pretty his lashes looked. It made me get so addicted just by his eyes alone. I could never forget how it would bring my insides going up and down whenever our eyes meet.
That’s what I am craving.
That same addicting feeling whenever our eyes meet.
No amount of nicotine can replace this addictive substance this man could ever give me.
“Y/n,” how could this man take my breath away with just him saying my name? It frustrates me how much of a chokehold he had for me.
“Hm…?” I couldn’t even trust myself to speak. A simple hum would do it. This whole situation is stressing me out.
But all I could do was bring this nicotine down to my lungs, but I was interrupted by his hands squeezing both of my cheeks and bringing himself close to my lips— pressing his to mine, which prompted him to inhale the remaining smoke from my lungs, which made him cough right away.
“Tangina, bat gumuguhit, ang anghang.” (Motherfucker, that burns my throat. Too minty). He exclaimed, probably because his first hit draws a sharp sensation that traveled through his chest.
Yet there you have it, our eyes met.
I let out an amused kind of scoff and said, “You hate mint.”
“Fucking hate mint,” he continued my sentence right away, which made both of us laugh.
Me too.
I hate the way his eyes still sparkle despite how dark the night is. I hate how much his eyes twinkle more than the stars in the sky can ever be. I hate how he is looking directly at me at the moment. I hate that I couldn’t even read what he is thinking right now. Does he even know how much his eyes are driving me crazy right now?
“Aren’t you cold?” he asked, still looking directly at me.
I burst out laughing to the point I was clutching my stomach. Is this what textbook insanity is? I could not even explain to myself why I am laughing right now. Is it because of the nerves? Is it because I found this amusing? Or is it because I am finding myself falling all over him again and again and again— for an embarrassing many amounts again.
“What? Penny for a thought?” he said, smiling ear to ear.
I flicked my long overdue cigarette on the floor and stomped on it. Honestly, I find this whole situation bizarre.
“What’s your agenda here, Joshua? Rehab me to stop smoking?” he, again, tittered a bit.
“No” he answered. If I were to ask, I would rather not know. So, I kept my mouth shut. That’s better than exploring his motives.
I took a deep sigh and straightened out my clothes and tried to walk away, but he immediately pulled me by my wrist gently and said, “Can you teach me?”
“Teach you what?” There was a hesitant pause before he continued his sentence.
“Smoke.” I gave him a confused look. He hates the smell of nicotine, what changed?
Asking more will make me want more, thus I didn’t say a thing.
Tapping my one remaining stick, lit it up, and gave him the well lit cigarette.
He took a good second to observe the stick before firmly holding it in between his fingers. he briefly looked at me, then the stick, and me again.
He brought the stick back to my mouth which I instinctively inhaled the substance. With one swift move, he caught my nape using his one available hand to pull me closer and brought his lips upon mine. Him bitting my lips makes me open my mouth, releasing the same substance to his mouth, and him puffing it.
“You know you could just bring it to YOUR mouth” I said in matter-of-fact tone.
“Nah, I like it this way” He said still looking at the cigarette in hand.
Letting go an amused huff, I saw him took a good puff with the cigarette in hand.
“Now, I understood why you like hitting his. It really does calms the nerves” he laughs— shifting his gaze on me.
“Y/n, I miss you”
“Is there an -ed with the end?” I asked which made his chuckle.
“No. Its on present tense if that’s what you’re asking”
“What made you say that?” I instigate.
“It’s been a while since the break up. I’ve realized that… You took away my routine with you. My life with you. You were my everything and I want to keep it that way” he said.
“But you let it go.”
“It was a mistake” he said, taking a puff with the last my last cigarette.
With my index finger, I guide his face towards me— which he did willingly. My mouth found his which he devoured eagerly. Attempting to gasp for air but I ended up inhaling the remaining toxic fumes from him.
I took a second to gasp for a decent air and looking at him breathing heavily while waiting for me. I immediately pulled him by his collar which I felt him dumping the remaining stick on the ground to prioritize holding me.
His touch glazes through my skin as if I am a delicate thing for him. While mine tugs on his hair. With so much precision, his kisses traveled down to my neck which I know damn well would leave mark.
I tried holding on my soft moans which I failed horribly and let out a frustrated moans that made him pull me up using his arms, wrapping my legs around his waist and him groping my ass.
“I—“ I was about to say something when I got interrupted by him pushing my back against the wall.
“Josh, we should not be carried away.” he quickly pulled away from my neck and look at me with his confused eyes.
“Why?” he asked obliviously while closing the proximity by him nibbling my earlobes which I unconsciously let out a soft satisfied whimper.
Tapping his arms to let go of my legs— which he did, “someone might see us.”
“So what?”
“I am not stupid enough to get caught with you”
“So we can continue in my place?” he boldly asked.
Looking at his frustrated, worn out look. He is heavily breathing, maybe due to the fact that he is so driven by this whole situation.
“We should continue to wherever this will take us”

The castle halls were empty, and the furniture was covered with white sheets. Your heeled shoes echoed through the tall roof as you walked across the marble floors. A kingdom once beautiful, once prosperous, now turned into dust in front of your very eyes. While growing up, your father always spoke of how his kingdom will one time be yours. But you no longer wanted this.
"Your Majesty, your carriage is here.", your chambermaid came up beside you.
"Do I have to go?", you said, only half sarcastically.
"I'm afraid so, my Lady.", she nodded, "But I will be with you every step of the way."
Most of the servants in the castle had left because you simply did not have the means to keep them around. You had insisted on keeping Eunji around. She was the closest thing you had to a best friend, after all.
"I wish my father could be here...", you sighed as you followed after Eunji.
"We all wish he could be here.", she nodded, "I think he would be very proud of your decision."
The Prince of the neighboring kingdom had offered his hand in marriage, despite your empire being in ruins after your father's sudden death. Everyone was joyous over the occasion, except you. There had never been enough time for you to think of marriage or love in any capacity, but you knew that you didn't just want to do it for an advantage. However, Eunji was right - your father would have been proud. He had repeatedly told you that he trusted you to be a good ruler and to do what is right for the people. This was right for the people, so at least you had one reason you could justify the situation with.
The ride there was long and treacherous, nothing like you had ever experienced before. You frequently used to ride horseback with your father, much to your mother's dismay. To see you sitting pretty in one of your finest gowns in a carriage brought her the utmost delight.
"You really do look lovely, darling.", she said.
She was a kind soul, your mother, but she never understood you much. It wasn't her fault, of course, and after your father's passing, she had tried to accommodate more to your needs, as had you to her.
"You've said that already, mother.", you said whilst giving her a small smile.
"Oh, I know...", she sighed, "I'm just restless..."
Of course, she was restless. If she weren't restless it would provoke you even further. However, you knew she wasn't solely restless. She was excited. She was excited because you had picked your clothes yourself without her having to ask you to wear something nice. That only happened on extraordinarily special occasions, although you must admit it felt nice to look pretty.
"... thank you.", you looked out the window to avoid her sympathetic smile.
The moment you told her of your plans to marry, she cried tears of joy. Partly because she was so happy for you. Furthermore, because she knew the kingdom would be saved. Outside the window, autumn had begun to take its toll on the poor trees. No longer green, they had taken on an orange color. Although it was beautiful, you knew that in a few weeks the orange would turn brown and that the trees' destinies were to turn into lifeless husks of the beautiful bloom that spring had brought them. Nobody questions the cruel cycle of the seasons because we have grown attached to them, it is the natural way of things. However, the seasons are purely a transaction. If it is true, as the ancients say, that every spring Persephone leaves Hades' side in the Underworld, then it is a trade between the King of the Underworld and the human race. We get to live with Persephone's beauty for half a year, and then we experience the same cold that Hades feels once his Queen leaves his side. The tale is tragic and has been adapted into many forms of storytelling. But, nobody ever asks how Persephone feels. Her body is used by both the people and the man she loves as pristine goods. She is torn: should she stay with the man she loves or should she help her people? This compromise between Hades and the people may seem like an acceptable prospect, however, every winter people are still hurting, and every spring Hades cries tears of sorrow and loneliness. The agreement brings equal pleasure for both parties, but it also brings equal pain. And let's not forget the Queen, who hurts no matter what she does.
"We're almost here, darling.", your mother interrupts your thoughts, and you are forced to drag your attention away from the trees.
"Indeed we are.", you hummed as you saw the castle, your new home, in the distance.
.⋆。⋆☂˚。⋆。˚☽˚。⋆.
The castle had a homely look with many rounded corners. It gave you the impression that it wanted to look less intimidating. Your new family was inside, waiting for you in the King's throne room.
"Are you ready, my darling?", your mother came up beside you.
"Certainly.", you nodded, keeping your gaze fixated on the mesmerizing marble structure.
The large wooden doors opened for you as you walked up the steps, and, even inside, it seemed lovely. If you could, you would've taken a moment to appreciate the amount of art on the walls, not to mention the mural on the roof. There was no time. You could only walk past it. You came to a second large wooden door. You heard your name being presented on the other side. When the doors opened, you were almost blinded. Not only did the room have big ceiling windows decorated with golden arches, but the room was also almost entirely filled with mirrors on the walls. Instinctively, you straightened your back as soon as you saw your reflection. In front of you sat King Jeon, lonely on his golden throne. You thought of Hades again and that maybe this is just what he looked like. The man was huge, much bigger than you had ever imagined, and had a large grey beard. His crown sat perfectly on his head. From it, his grey hair was cascading down his shoulders. Once you were just a few feet away from him, you courtesied and bowed in respect. The King stood up from his throne and walked toward you. Never had you imagined that he would reach his hand out for you to try to shake it. Yet, he did, and you took his hand in yours. His hand was calloused and felt as if it was as large as your entire forearm.
"My condolences for your father´s passing, Princess.", he said.
His voice was deep and burly, and it reminded you of thunder. As you peered up at him, you couldn't believe his size. You had never seen a person this tall before.
"Thank you, your Majesty.", you said, trying to keep your voice strong.
"I am glad that such a strong woman could take over his place.", he said, "Your father spoke very highly of you whenever we met."
"He spoke highly of you as well, your Majesty.", you smiled at him.
"That's very kind of you to say.", his smile was surprisingly kind, "Now, I'm sure that you're hungry, and then I'll have the servants show you to your rooms. We can talk of business tomorrow."
The King gave you another warm smile and nodded to your mother as a greeting. You had never gotten to experience what it was like to live as a ruler. Instead, you had always found yourself in the position your mother was in now - ignored until the last seconds of the meeting. Still, your mother's smile shined brightly at you when you turned to follow the King out of his throne room. As you left you caught a glimpse of yourself in one of the mirrors that surrounded you. Deep dark circles framed your eyes, you could hardly recognize yourself. Now you understood why the King wanted to take the business in the morning.
You and your mother ate by yourselves. The rest of the Jeon family was already fast asleep, the King told you. As soon as you finished eating you were led to your room. When you tried asking for Eunji, they told you that she had taken her place in the servants' quarters already. They asked if they should wake her for you, but you declined and let another servant undress you for the night.
Your room was round, much like the architecture outside. The bed was in the middle of the room, and there was a small vanity table prepared for you, as well as a wardrobe and a partition wall for you to get dressed behind. The room's wallpaper gave the illusion of looking like velvet, and the dark red color accommodates nicely with the golden details. Most importantly, at one end of the room, there was a door leading to a balcony that overlooked the garden. The servant took off your outer layers for you and was about to leave you to take care of the rest yourself, leaving your nightgown on the bed.
"Excuse me...", you said before they could leave, "How can there be flowers in bloom in the garden? It's late autumn already."
"These flowers last until the frost starts to come in. The Queen likes to keep as much color in her garden for as long as she can.", the servant explained.
"Oh... thank you.", you said, "You may leave now."
The servant bowed and left you alone. You approached the glass doors, more of the flowers appearing in front of you. They had a vibrant purple and magenta color. It was late, but you just had to take a closer look. You opened the doors to the balcony and stepped out. It was cold, and the wind flew right through the thin material of your dress. Without the extra layers, the cold was much more prominent. But you didn't mind, instead, you leaned a bit further over the edge of the balcony to look closer at the flowers.
"Maybe Persephone left a piece of herself in this garden...", you sighed.
"You should go back inside.", you heard a voice from below you.
You quickly backed away from the balcony with a small shriek. It had merely surprised you to hear a voice in the dark, you weren't necessarily scared. In fact, you were intrigued - so you approached the edge again. In the garden stood a tall man with dark black hair. He was wearing all black: black pants, a black nightshirt, and black shoes. Of course, you hadn't seen him.
"Who are you?", you asked, "Why are you outside my window?"
"I didn't mean to be outside your window.", he said, ignoring your first question, "I like to visit the garden when the moon is out."
You looked up, seeing a slither of a moon there. A new moon. Looking back at the man, you smiled.
"So you visit the garden every night?", you asked.
"Only when there is a moon.", he answered.
"Then I will see you again soon.", you said.
"You might.", he spoke wearily, "Is that something you would like?"
"You seem mysterious. I like mysteries."
He let out a laugh, and you thought that you could hear the bells ringing. Like a silver spoon softly striking a crystal glass, that's what his laugh made you feel. Elegant and light. You wanted oh so desperately to hear it again.
"I heard you speak of Persephone before. Are you interested in Greek mythology?", he asked.
"Only a little.", you said truthfully, "I had a few books about it as a child. The story of Persephone stuck out to me."
"It's a bit romantic, I suppose."
"It's tragic.", you corrected him.
"How is it tragic?", he asked with an amused smile, "Because of the kidnapping?"
"Well, even if we look past the kidnapping it is still tragic.", you said, "She doesn't get to choose. Ever. The most she got to choose was when she ate the pomegranate. Other than that, it is decided for her that she has to travel between worlds. It is tragic because every autumn and spring she has to leave something important to her."
"Isn't it the best option, though?"
"No.", you shake your head, "I would've wanted to choose one of the two. Either having to give up my dearest, or to give up my people. Otherwise, I would have to go through the same pain every time I have to leave. While also, may I add, knowing that they are in pain as well."
"You would damn the world to an eternal winter to be with someone you love? Or break someone's heart to give the people eternal spring?", his eyebrows furrowed, "Isn't it selfish?"
"What isn't selfish?", you laughed, "Every action we take is selfish, whether we realize it or not."
"How depressing of a thought.", he said, "You don't think people can do selfless good?"
"I think people can try.", you said, "Trying is wonderful, in fact, but I don't think anyone can ever succeed."
"You have a peculiar mind.", the man muttered.
"So I have been told.", you said, "... do you know the name of these flowers?"
"It's Phlox.", he leaned down and picked a flower from the bushes, "It's a Greek word, actually. It means flame."
You watched as he looked around, and then took a sprung up your balcony. It wasn't high up from the ground, so he easily climbed up just enough to hand you the flower he had picked. Now that you could see him better, you took time to appreciate his sculpted features and piercing eyes.
"Thank you.", you mumbled.
"My Lady.", he bowed his head slightly before jumping down, "I wish you a good night's sleep."
"Goodnight.", you said and watched as he walked away, back into the castle.
When you woke up the morning after it was because someone was pulling your blinds aside.
"Good morning, Princess.", Eunji greeted.
"Good morning...", you sigh, "Did you sleep well?"
"I slept very well, my Lady.", she smiled brightly at you, "They are all so nice here. We had a wonderful time at breakfast. Oh, and speaking of breakfast. The King has called you to come eat breakfast with them. The entire family will be there this time."
"Right...", you groaned and sat up, "Did I bring any good gowns for this occasion?"
"You certainly did, my Lady.", Eunji happily walked over to your dresser and pulled out a light blue dress with poofy sleeves, "This is quite romantic, is it not? Perfect for your first time meeting the Prince."
The Prince. Prince Jeon Sungho. Your future husband. A sigh escaped your lips at the thought... and your mind couldn't help but drift to the man from the other night. What if it was Sungho? He never said his name, and with his beauty, he could definitely be a prince.
"I'll use that one then.", you said and got out of bed.
Seeing the castle in the daylight further gave you the impression that it was built to look welcoming. The windows were big, and the walls were light in color. It was such a drastic difference from the man you had seen last night. If it truly was the Prince, then he was a walking contradiction.
Eunji only left your side once you made it to the door of the dining room. When the doors open your nose was flooded with an amazing smell. Fresh bread, vanilla, all kinds of fruity smells, anything that would make your mouth water. You were starving.
"Ah, Princess Y/N, you made it.", the King said from his place at the end of the table.
"I'm sorry for my late arrival.", you said and made your way to an empty seat.
Before you could sit down, a man in front of you stood up. For a moment you thought it was the man from last night, but his eyes were different and he had a wider jaw.
"I am Prince Sungho, my Princess.", he said softly, "I am pleased to make your acquaintance."
"It is very good to meet you, Prince Sungho.", you said and tried your best not to seem disappointed.
The two of you bowed your heads as you sat down. His eyes were constantly on you, you could feel them practically burning into your skin. You didn't return his gaze. It wasn't because he wasn't handsome enough, he was in fact very handsome, but he wasn't the man from last night. It made you question who he truly was.
"Sungho has suggested that we go out for a ride after breakfast.", the Queen piped up, "Hopefully, my other son will be able to join us then."
"You have another son?", your mother, who was seated next to you, asked.
"Oh yes, we do.", the King said with a smile, "He's a bit more bashful than his brother, so he didn't join us for breakfast. Although, if you ask him - he will say that he was feeling sick."
"Do you think that a ride would be agreeable, Lady Y/N?", Sungho asked you.
His eyes were still burning into you, and it was almost difficult to return his gaze.
"Oh, yes. I think that sounds lovely.", you nodded with a timid smile.
The second son of the Jeon family was nowhere to be seen when you got to the stables. You had changed into more appropriate clothing for riding, which Sungho took note of.
"So it's not just the clothes that make my Lady so beautiful.", he said with a charming smile.
"I guess not.", you looked down at your clothes and then back up at him, "Thank you."
The Prince was handsome, kind, and loved to hear your opinion on many different topics. You found yourself drawn to him because of this. During the ride he showed great gentlemanship, helping you on and off your horse, and he matched his riding pace to fit yours. He was all a woman could ever dream of... yet you found yourself thinking of the mystery man from last night. The way his piercing gaze seemed to look into your soul, or the way his fingertips touched your hand when he gave you that flower that was still on your bedside table. You had thoroughly enjoyed the banter the two of you made, and not in the same way you could appreciate the way the Prince spoke.
Once the evening came you were excited to see him again. However, during the day dark clouds had started coming in over the horizon. It was raining heavily and the moon was nowhere in sight. You remembered his words: "I like to visit the garden when the moon is out". A sigh escaped your lips as you sat down on your bed.
"Is everything alright, my Lady?", Eunji asked.
"Oh, I'm just fine...", you turned to her, "Could you... perhaps keep a secret for me, Eunji?"
"Of course, my Lady."
She sat down on the bed beside you, as she had many nights before this. Eunji was as close as you had to a friend, and you always told her everything. You trusted her, and you had to tell someone of the man.
"Yesterday evening I was out on the balcony...", you paused and looked at her, "I saw this man there... dark hair, tall... handsome."
The rain started pouring outside as you told Eunji of the man. A constant smile was on Eunji's lips, clearly happy about you speaking of a potential love interest. It wasn't something you had done in the past, as you never bothered with it before. You thought you had your whole life ahead of you to deal with romance.
"I thought it might be the Prince.", you said which only made Eunji's smile grow wider, "... but it wasn't. While they were similar, he just... it wasn't the same."
"Oh...", her smile quickly faded, "I shouldn't advise you to have affections toward anyone but the Prince... but you seem very intrigued by this mysterious gentleman."
"I am, but it won't get in the way of my marriage. I promise.", you let out a breath that you hadn't realized you had been holding in, "I have gone too far to screw this up for a man I met once."
Your eyes wandered to the window, where the rain was still falling heavily. Eunji put her hand on top of yours, showing her support silently.
"I just needed to tell someone of what had happened.", you look back at her with a warm smile, "I cannot tell you how happy I am that you would listen."
"Of course, my Lady.", she said.
"I probably just got excited to talk to someone.", you reassured yourself, "There's not much else to it."
Eunji left your side to blow out all the candles in your room. You thanked her and bid her goodnight before she left. Laying in your bed, listening to the rainfall, and praying that you would never see the man again.
The doors to the dining room opened and you stepped inside. Unlike the day before, you were fairly early. Only the King, the Queen, and your mother were in the room.
"Good morning.", you said as you walked inside, "If I may, I would like to start presenting ideas of what we could do for the kingdom's-"
The door opened yet again. You turned around expecting your arranged fiancé but were met with another familiar face. The stranger from the garden. He looked at you, and you could tell he recognized you, but he kept quiet.
"Ah, finally!", the Queen stood up and motioned for the man in front of you, "This is my second son, Prince Wonwoo. Wonwoo, darling, this is Princess Y/N - your brother's fiancé."
Your mouth fell into a small "o" shape as you looked between the two. Without hesitation, Wonwoo's face fell into a polite smile as he reached to shake your hand.
"It's a pleasure to finally meet you, my Lady.", he said and kissed the back of your hand, "I'm sorry I wasn't here to greet you before, I wasn't feeling well. Although, I am in much better condition now."
You could hear the King chuckle behind you, supposedly at the fact that Wonwoo claimed that he was ill. His hand was warm in yours, and you wish he hadn't let go just yet.
"The pleasure's all mine, your Majesty.", you said and hoped that you didn't look all too flustered, "You missed a very nice ride yesterday."
"So I have heard.", he said, "My brother told me all about it."
As if on cue, the door opened again and Prince Sungho stepped in. Everyone greeted him a good morning, and you sadly had to watch Wonwoo walk away. He sat on the other side of the table, diagonally from you.
"So you wanted to speak of plans, Y/N.", the King said suddenly, "Please, do enlighten me."
During breakfast you told the King of the plans you had to make your kingdom blossom once again, which would in turn help their kingdom after your marriage was set in stone. Wonwoo's eyes were on you at all times, and whenever you would glance over at him you would stumble over your words. You didn't mean to, there was just something about him that made you incredibly nervous.
As soon as breakfast ended, Wonwoo was out the door. You didn't even have time to say goodbye. Sungho was quick to step in front of you, hindering you from following the younger prince.
"I heard nobody's given you a tour of the castle yet.", he held out his arm to you, "May I have the honor of doing so myself?"
You looked back at your mother, who was giving you a supportive smile, then back at Sungho. His eyes were much warmer than his brother's. At the thought of Wonwoo, you glanced over to the door he left through. Maybe you would see him again if you took this tour.
"You may.", you nodded and met his eyes once again.
"You've seen the throne room.", he said as you walked through the mirror-filled room.
"Why the mirrors, if I may ask?", you say.
"It makes the room look bigger.", he looked around, "I suppose one could also always know who's behind one's back with these mirrors."
A hum echoed from your mouth as you looked around. Sungho had been showing you around the castle. A quick visit to the servant's quarters, a look into the kitchen, the garden, the King's study, the drawing room, and many many staircases. Now you were back where you had started your story in this castle.
"Would you like to see the ballroom?", he asked and placed his hand over yours, which was still hanging on his arm.
"I would love to.", you gave him a polite smile.
The two of you walked across the King's throne room and through a grand door. In there was a big round room, the biggest room in the castle you were sure. The roof was tall and painted with beautiful images of angels and knights and other such things that one would paint on a ceiling. Surrounding the area were big pillars, on which leaned a smaller balcony of sorts. There was a small staircase to go up there.
"It's gorgeous.", you said.
"Does my Lady like dancing?"
"I do.", you nodded, "Although I won't say I'm very good at it."
"Nonsense.", Sungho chuckled, "I'm sure you're as good as you are beautiful."
You only smiled at him, for you had nothing to say back.
"This is the room furthest from the garden and your room in the West wing.", he commented, "So if there is a ball you can be sure that you will get the least amount of disturbance."
"What else is in the West wing?", you asked.
"Well, there's the library.", he pondered for a bit, "There's not much else going on in the West wing. We call it the quiet wing for a reason. That's why it's the best bedroom in the castle."
"You have a library in the West wing?", you almost gaped at him.
"Yes of course.", he nodded, "Would you like me to show you?"
"I would like that very much, your Majesty."
As you walked through the corridors together you tried mapping all the rooms out in your head. On one end there was your room, and this supposed library you had only just heard about, and on the other end was the ballroom. Outside the ballroom seemed to be another garden or a labyrinth of sorts, which you were told could lead you to the West wing's garden. How you couldn't understand quite yet. The servants' hall lay under the dining room area, which was accessed with a well-hidden door. The King's throne room was quite central to the castle, and in the North wing lay most of the bedrooms.
When you reached the library, Sungho opened the door for you. You basically flew into the room. Books were filling all of the bookshelves, which were as tall as the entire walls.
"I take it that you like this room.", he said with a chuckle.
"Oh, more than any other room.", you said silently and walked up to one of the bookshelves to look at the books.
Rustling was heard from beside you, and you snapped your head in the direction of the noise. Wonwoo walked out from behind one of the bookshelves. He bowed his head at you.
"It's my favorite room too.", he said quietly with a peculiar smile, "Sorry, I didn't mean to disturb you, I was just looking for a book."
He held up a purple book. You could only stare at him with wide eyes, at a loss for all words. Surely he must find you absolutely idiotic.
"It's alright, brother.", Sungho answered for you, "We are just looking around the castle."
"Ah... then you've been in the ballroom, I suppose.", he looked back at you, "It's really beautiful."
"It certainly is.", you managed to get out.
Wonwoo was smiling at you, but his eyes were still so piercing. You couldn't read him whatsoever.
Later that evening, you got ready for bed. When Eunji had left, you practically leaped out on the balcony in nothing but your silky, pale pink, nightgown. The moon was out, and you could hear someone whistling.
"The Lady returns.", he said as you walked out, "I thought I had frightened you the other night."
"The moon wasn't out yesterday.", you replied, "I thought you wouldn't be here."
"I left once the rain started pouring down.", he said casually, "So you're the Princess, huh..."
"I would have told you, but you wouldn't tell me who you were.", you said, "Prince Wonwoo."
He finally looked at you, only to quickly look away again.
"You should put something else on.", he took a deep breath, "It's not proper... and you're going to catch a cold."
"I'm not staying out here for long.", you shrugged.
"You're not?", he glanced at you, a slightly worried tone in his voice.
Oh. This isn't good.
"I mean...", you sighed, "I shouldn't be out here so late at night anyway. You should go inside too."
He looked at you, really looked at you. Everything around you just seemed to disappear. Only he was still there, and as he started approaching the balcony, much like the other night, you didn't utter a word to stop him. In fact, as he neared you hoped that he could finally close the gap filled with meaningless air between you. His hands gripped the edge of the balcony, right in between where your hands were resting. When he pulled himself up you stood face to face. You had never been this close to him before. He smelled of lavender and something dark and woody. His eyes were still strictly looking into yours, piercing through your soul. He opened his mouth to speak, and you looked down at his lips.
"I do not wish to cause you mental turmoil, but I must tell you that the moment I laid eyes on you that night I thought you were the most beautiful woman I had ever seen.", he spoke quietly and sincerely, "And if the situation had been different I wouldn't hesitate to try to win your affection. I waited for you in the rain last night, wishing that I could get another glimpse of you, to hear your voice again."
You sucked in a sharp breath and looked back into his eyes. His beautiful brown eyes. There was something so thrilling about having him so near, about him confessing his undying attraction to you. Your head was completely fogged up, you didn't know what you were doing, but your hands cupped his face and kissed him. He tasted sweet and reinvigorated, it reminded you of a lemon pie. His lips were soft and moved against yours with a slow, burning passion. Your hands traveled down to his collar, just to try to bring him a bit closer. But Wonwoo pulled away, his face one of horror as if he had just found something so very wrong.
"We shouldn't be doing this...", he suddenly said, "I am so terribly sorry."
You tried to stop him, to grab him, and tell him that no one had to know; anything to get him close to you again. He didn't listen. With fleeting footsteps, he left the garden. You looked over at the flowers. The weather had started growing colder, and with it came the frost. Much like you, the purple flowers in the garden had started withering away.
The next morning you asked Eunji to get you breakfast in bed and to tell the household that you weren't feeling well. You couldn't bare to come across Wonwoo again. You had never felt something so strong for another person, and you could never have him.
After breakfast, you put on a robe over your nightgown and made your way to the library. The weather was beautiful today, and you heard from Eunji that the family was going out for a walk in the nearby forest. That meant the castle was yours to wander, but you only wanted the library. As you walked in there, your eyes immediately landed on a singular book laying on a table. There was a couch near the table, and you took a seat and started reading. It wasn't anything interesting, only a book about some old war, but it was enough to distract you.
The door to the library opened and you locked eyes with Wonwoo. Your eyes widened as you quickly pulled your robe tighter around your chest. One of his hands was still on the door handle, the other one hanging by his side. You watched his hand grip around nothing before letting his fingers fall. Neither of you spoke, you only watched each other. Footsteps echoed outside the door, and you heard your name being called by someone. Wonwoo ran to you, pulling you aside and in between two bookshelves. You were shielded from the view from the door. Wonwoo's arms were tightly wrapped around your waist, your chest pressed against his. Still, neither of you spoke. You looked up at him with big, worried eyes. He swallowed and looked away from you. The library door opened.
"My Lady? Are you in there?", it was Sungho, "... strange. Brother? Are you in here?"
Wonwoo shut his eyes tightly in annoyance. Of course, his brother had seen him walk in here. He motioned for you to stay quiet, and left you alone to greet his brother.
"I'm right here.", he cleared his throat, "But I haven't seen the Princess."
"He chambermaid said she would be here...", Sungho trailed off, "Maybe she was mistaken. If you see her, please come get me."
"Of course."
The library door shut. You were left feeling breathless. When you turned around Wonwoo was right in front of you again.
"Do you always parade yourself around in such indecent clothing?", he hissed at you.
"Excuse me?", your eyebrows furrowed.
"What? Did you think I would walk in here and take you on the couch? Is that what you wanted?", Wonwoo's eyes were burning, but you couldn't tell if it was with anger or lust.
"I was informed that everyone had left the castle.", you said, "I wouldn't go out of my room otherwise."
Wonwoo quieted down, clearly flustered by his earlier assumption. You were left feeling like your heart would beat out of your chest. Truly, you didn't know what had happened to you. Any logic left in you had flown out the window, now replaced with attraction for the man in front of you.
"... about last night-", you started.
"I didn't mean to hurt your feelings.", he grabbed your hands, "As I said if the situation was different..."
His eyes trailed down your face to your lips, then down your neck, to your collar bones, until they ended at your exposed chest when he reminded himself to look you back in the eye.
"My Lord-"
"I am not a Lord.", he murmured and cradled your cheek in his palm.
"My Prince...", you leaned into his touch.
"Just call me Wonwoo.", he said, "Let's stop with the formalities."
His hand was so warm and soft. You pressed your hand to the back of his, just to bring it even closer to your cheek. As you peered up at him through your lashes you saw how his breathing hitched. Sadly, you had to let go of him. Your hands removed the one that he held to your cheek, and you dropped your arms back to your sides.
"Prince Wonwoo...", you said despite his request, "I think you're right. This can't be. Besides, isn't it foolish to act on feelings toward a person you've only just met?"
"I suppose...", Wonwoo looked away from you to hide his disappointment, "But I do not feel like I have only just met you, Princess."
"It does not make it any less wrong.", you murmured.
His gaze returned to meet yours. Fireworks set off in your stomach, and you wanted to touch him again. You wished you had never made him let go. This couldn't possibly be wrong if it felt so good.
"Let's be good friends.", you managed to say.
"I think I can manage.", he smiled.
Oh, his smile was so wonderful. It made you feel like you were taking in a fresh breath of air during a chilly summer morning. You wanted to reach up and touch his face, cup his cheek, and gently swipe your thumb over his cheekbone.
"To good friends.", you held out your hand for him to shake.
"Good friends.", he took it.
Autumn passed, and in came winter. Most nights you would sit by a big fireplace in the drawing room. The only big problem with the Quiet wing was its lack of places to put fires. Whenever you would go to sleep, you would put on at least two layers of clothing and have extra blankets. The balcony was always closed now, though you had many times thought of visiting Wonwoo out there. He was acting normally around you, although you could feel him watching you when he thought you weren't looking. Your method was working out just fine.
Snowy days pass and you grow closer to Prince Sungho. One evening you're sitting in the drawing room, in front of the fireplace, when he walks in. You watch as he approaches you. It's only the two of you in the room. He seems nervous.
"I really am embarrassed that your room doesn't have proper heating.", he said for what must have been the hundredth time, "The offer of changing rooms still stands, whenever you want to."
"You're too kind, Prince Sungho.", you smile at him before turning back to the fire, "But I quite like my room, and it's not all that horrible... I also have a reason to come in here every evening, where I may see you."
The Prince was surprised by your flirtatious advances, as he always was. You patted on the couch right next to you, asking him to sit down. At this point, you know just what to say and do to make him weak in the knees. Which you had been using to your advantage. With the attention of a man such as Prince Sungho, you cannot possibly begin to think about Wonwoo.
"I have loved to have you here.", the Prince says as he sits down, "Truly, it has been a gift."
"I have loved to be here.", you responded.
"... but I have yet to do the thing that I promised.", he pulled out a small box from his pocket, "I know that I've offered my hand in marriage for you already, but I want it to be official. I want everyone to know."
He opens the box and reveals a diamond ring. With his slim fingers, he picks it up. You smile widely and put your hand in his. His eyes ask you for your permission, and you nod. Slowly, he pushes the ring onto your left ring finger.
"It's beautiful.", you hum and watch the diamond sparkle in the light of the fire.
"It's one of a kind.", he muses, "Just like you."
You can't help but think of Wonwoo. How his eyes sparkled just like this diamond the night he had kissed you. When you look up at the man in front of you, it's not Wonwoo, and you have to face reality.
"We should start planning for the wedding.", you mutter.
"Soon, my love.", he holds your face in his hands, "I want to celebrate you first. We shall throw a ball in your honor."
"My honor?"
"In honor of our official engagement, then.", he gave you a toothy smile, "After that, I will give you all the resources to plan a wedding... I'll find the best people in the land."
You wondered what Sungho truly knew about you. How could he be so infatuated with a person whom he's only spoken to in person for a few months? How can he promise you everything when you still see a stranger when you look at him?
"I think I will go to my chambers, it's late.", you say and stand up.
"Sleep well, my Lady.", Sungho watches you as you leave.
After a few weeks, an entire ball had been planned and executed. It was the day of the big night. The evening would start with the King announcing your official engagement, and let the guests celebrate with a night full of dancing and wine. A group of maids had brought you a dress, a present from the Queen. The corset top sat tightly on your torso. The sweetheart neckline accentuated your collarbone area and the puffy, short sleeves gave it a romantic look. Flower prints in lace covered the top elegantly and subtly, which contrasted the many chiffon layers of the skirt. At first glance, the dress looked white, but it was in fact a light lilac color. As the maids helped you put it on, one of them gave you a note from the Queen herself.
I heard you like the purple flowers in my garden, so this will suit you well.
Your body froze. Only two people knew of your fondness of the garden: Eunji and Wonwoo. If Eunji had told her, she would've asked you first. Maybe the Queen had asked her not to tell, to make it a surprise... but if Wonwoo had said something it would be suspicious. You couldn't be worrying about this now.
"Everything is done, Princess.", one of the maids said in a soft-spoken tone.
"Thank you.", you did your best to smile at her.
When you looked at yourself in the mirror, you felt like crying. You should be jumping with glee at this moment in your life, but you couldn't bring yourself to do it. A night which was supposed to be about your engagement to the Prince, and so far you had spent most of it worrying about another man. You knew he would be there, and your mind had immediately wandered to what he would think of you - if he would find you beautiful. This was all so wrong.
They announced your name before you entered the ballroom. Whispers and gasps echoed through the large room as you walked towards the Kind and his oldest son. The King offered you his hand, which you took, and let him guide you to hold Sungho's hand. You looked out over the crowd, meeting star-struck and emotional faces. More importantly, you met Wonwoo's piercing gaze. As the King held a short speech in the engagement's honor, you never looked away from Wonwoo. Unlike his brother, he was wearing all black. His suit was lined with golden details, and a few golden rings adorned his fingers. He had a cape hanging over one shoulder, and a pair of well-polished boots. In a crowd full of white-clad folks, he stood out like a sore thumb. You wanted to tease him about dressing wrong for the occasion, but that would be too close to flirting.
"That is why I am happy to announce the engagement of my oldest son, Prince Sungho, and the lovely Princess Y/N. You have my blessing, and I know that this union will be a wonderful one.", the King brought you back to your senses, "To the happy couple! Let's celebrate!"
"Would you like to dance, my Lady?", Sungho whispered in your ear as the two of you walked out on the dancefloor.
You're already leading me there, it would just be awkward to say no now...
"I would love to.", you put on your best smile and got into position.
The crowd watched as you danced. After a minute, others joined in but you saw Wonwoo still leaning against one of the pillars. You locked eyes, and you couldn't look away.
"You seem distracted, my Lady.", Sungho said.
"Oh, I'm just... as I've told you, I'm not very good at dancing. I guess I'm just nervous.", you looked back at him.
"Don't worry, when you're in my hands you're safe."
"I'm sure.", you nodded and looked past him again, but now Wonwoo was gone.
The song ended, and Sungho eventually left your side to talk to some of his friends. You were left standing alone in a corner. Now that the announcement had been made and people had paraded you around, nobody seemed to care where you went. A sigh escaped your lips as you relaxed against the cold wall.
"Tired already?", a voice appeared beside you.
When you saw him your eyes widened, and you felt your cheeks grow warm. Wonwoo had looked good from afar, but this close he was truly a sight to behold.
"It's alright, I also usually keep to myself at these kinds of things.", he added.
"My fiancé just left me to talk to other people, and there's no one for me to speak with.", you explained.
"You can talk to me.", he gave you a delicate smile.
"... it's not weird for you?", you murmured.
"Of course it is. But not a day goes by where my life is normal or goes my way. You get used to it.", he held out his hand to you, "Am I worthy enough to dance with you, Princess?"
"People will see.", you looked out over the ballroom, nobody had seen you just yet.
"Then they will see two people dancing, nothing more.", he took your hand and put it on his shoulder, "You just think so because you want there to be more to it."
Wonwoo's put his hand on your waist, and with his other hand, he grabbed yours. The two of you swayed in the shadows, out of view from anyone else. Being in his arms made you feel safe like you could truly rest. When the song ended he let go of you but kept holding your hand. He bent down and placed a gentle kiss on the back of your hand.
"Thank you, Princess.", he said and took a step away from you.
"You're a wonderful dancer.", you let out a giggle, "You must be a favorite amongst the ladies."
"Oh, definitely...", he said sarcastically, "Especially the married ones."
If it weren't for the fact that your fiancé was approaching, you would've landed a soft smack on his arm. Wonwoo took another step back and greeted his brother.
"I'm glad you two get along so well.", Sungho placed an arm around your waist.
"Oh, he's a swell conversationalist.", you said and internally cringed at your words of choice.
"Really?", Sungho's eyebrows shot up, "I've never thought of you as the chatty type, brother."
"I have my moments.", Wonwoo replied, "But I should go. I hope you have a good rest of your night."
The rest of the night went rather smoothly. You were introduced to many people and danced with even more. From time to time you would catch a glimpse of Wonwoo, but not nearly enough for your liking. When the clock struck midnight, you realized that people weren't leaving yet. You asked Sungho when it was time to end, and he responded that it usually goes on until dawn. When you heard that you excused yourself and said that you would be leaving for your chambers early. You took the shortcut through the King's throne room, knowing that everyone else would be trying to leave through the ballroom's main entrance.
In the mirror-filled room, you caught your reflection. Your hair was in complete disarray, and your face had taken on a flustered color. Slowly, you approached one of the many mirrors. The door behind you opened, and when you looked through the mirror's reflection you saw Wonwoo.
"It's only me.", he said and closed the door.
His footsteps were slow, almost cautious. It was as if he was giving you time to tell him to stop. You didn't say a word. Wonwoo approached you. He had the same flustered look on his face as you did. It must have been the wine. It must have also been the wine that made you want him so bad. And, yes, it must have been the wine that made Wonwoo wrap his arms around your waist from behind. His large figure easily engulfed you, and you leaned into it. Wonwoo put his head on your shoulder and looked into your eyes through the reflection.
"I have been watching you all night, my love.", he whispered.
One of his hands pushed away the hair from the shoulder his chin was leaning on. His fingertips grazed your neck, making you shudder.
"I have seen you watching.", you hummed, "I was looking for you as well."
In a moment of pure bliss, his lips met your neck. A peck, that turned into two and then three. They were leading up from the crook of your neck to your jaw.
"You must be the most intoxicating goddess I have ever had the honor of being in the presence of.", he mumbled against your skin, "Have you seduced me, my princess?"
His princess.
"What if I have?", you smile at him through the mirror.
"I would have to tell your husband.", he took his lips away from your skin, much to your dismay.
"He's not my husband yet.", you sighed, "Let me take part in my freedom for a while longer."
"I wish to have a taste of you, my love.", he turned your head to face him with his hand, "Will you allow me the delight of feeling your lips against mine again?"
You didn't respond, instead, you pressed your lips to his greedily. Your body turned around to fully face him, and you pressed your chest against his. He pulled away to look around the room, and a paranoid feeling entered your chest.
"Someone could see us.", he said.
"My chambers are far away from the ballroom.", you take his face in his hands and place another kiss on his lips.
"I have heard that your chambers are freezing during this time of year.", he muttered against your lips.
"Don't worry, I will warm you up.", you smiled and grabbed his hand.
The two of you ran as fast as you could through the castle halls. His hand never left yours. You were lucky that nobody seemed to be around because you had a hard time keeping quiet. Laughs spilled out of your lips every other second.
When you reached your chambers, you locked the door behind you. Wonwoo's hands stayed on you every second and you loved the attention. With every step toward your bed, he placed another kiss on your skin. You were utterly drunk off of his contact with your body. Which is why a groan escaped your lips when he let you go. You sat down on the bed, both sleeves of your dress having slipped down.
"Tell me to leave now if you truly do not want me, my love.". he breathed out, "I will not hold myself back if we go any further."
"Please...", you grab his hand, "Have your way with me."
The very next morning you woke up to a sharp knock on your door. You stirred in your sleep, your hand touching a naked body beside you. Wonwoo was fast asleep beside you. A gasp escaped your lips as you pulled the covers up to cover your bare chest.
"Your Majesty!", another sharp knock, "I have to get you ready for breakfast!"
"Just give me a second, Eunji!", you shouted back.
Your voice woke up Wonwoo, who grabbed your waist to hold you closer. He was completely unaware of the situation you were in. In a hushed voice, you whispered to him that he had to get out of bed. With a grumpy look, he got up and gathered his clothes off the floor. Another knock scared you, and you ended up pushing him behind the partition wall. You put on your nightgown and walked over to the door, hoping that you didn't look like a flustered mess.
"My apologies, Eunji.", you smiled at her when you opened the door, "I was very tired from the ball last night..."
"I understand that my Lady, but you shouldn't lock your door when you know I don't have a key.", she explained with a worried look.
"I know, I know... I just wanted to be safe, you know with so many people around.", you lied right through your teeth.
"Well, we don't have time to chat. Let's get you ready!", Eunji pushed inside your room and walked over to the wardrobe.
You could see Wonwoo's feet under the small gap in the partition wall. Eunji handed you your slip dress and told you to put it on. In a state of panic, you went behind the partition wall and stood in front of Wonwoo so that his feet wouldn't be visible from under the partition wall. A sleepy smile was painted on his lips. He had only managed to put on his pants, his shirt still hanging from his hands. With an annoyed sigh, you took it from him and started pushing it over his head.
"Are you okay back there, my Lady?", Eunji asked as Wonwoo put his arms through the sleeves.
"Oh, I'm just... feeling a bit sick from the wine.", you stammered out.
"Well, if you need help I can-"
"No!", you yelled, "No, thank you. I don't need help."
"Are you sure you're okay?"
"I'm just feeling... self-conscious.", you shut your eyes tight, "Could you please put the dress on the bed for me? I'll try to do the rest by myself."
"Oh, my Lady, you have nothing to be embarrassed about.", Eunji assured you, "But if you wish for me to leave, then I shall. I'll be outside the door in case you do end up needing my services."
"Thank you, Eunji.", your breath hitched as you felt Wonwoo's hands on your waist.
The door opened and closed, and as soon as it shut Wonwoo pressed his lips to yours. You put your hands on his chest and smiled against the kiss.
"You're impossible.", you murmured softly.
He leaned his forehead against yours and looked deep into your eyes. A chill sent down your spine as Wonwoo started caressing your back. The warm glow of the morning sun filled the room and you found yourself feeling so unbelievably lucky.
"Last night...", he whispered, "Do you regret it?"
"I wish I would have done it sooner.", you admitted, "But now I must force you to leave, I'm sure people are looking for you."
"They can keep searching forever...", he muttered and kissed you again.
"People will grow suspicious.", you pulled away with a chuckle, "And as much as I'd love to keep kissing you forever, I have enough common sense to know it won't last."
"Let me at least help you get dressed.", his hands went to the hem of your short nightgown, "We don't want to keep your maid waiting."
"I'll let you help with the dress she picked out for me.", you said and pushed him out of the partition wall.
Your hands worked quickly to take off the nightgown and put on the slip dress. When you walked out you caught Wonwoo feeling the blue velvet material of your dress between his fingers. He handed you the dress carefully. The buttons in the back had already been undone, so all you had to do was step into it and pull the long sleeves over your arms. He motioned for you to turn around. Once your back faced him, Wonwoo slowly worked on buttoning the back of your dress. His lips pressed to the still bare skin where your neck met your back. The dress' collar was high, hiding whatever blemishes that were left from last night's activities.
"Leave the last few unbuttoned...", you whispered, "It'll be more believable that I couldn't reach."
Wonwoo hummed and took his hands away from you. Turning around, you stood face to face with the most lovestruck man you have ever seen. His smile was warm and inviting, creating small lines by his nose, and despite how wonderful this smile was you wanted to kiss it off his lips so badly. And in the beautiful morning glow, his eyes resembled portals of light that you would gladly dive into without questioning what could be on the other side.
"I'll miss you every second you aren't by my side.", he said.
"Can we see each other tonight again?", you asked.
"Of course."
Another harsh knock on the door, followed by a kind yet alarming voice that told you to please hurry up.
"Sorry, I got lost in my thoughts.", you responded but didn't look away from Wonwoo.
He walked over to the balcony door and opened it. You followed closer, leaning over the railing of the balcony as he climbed down. Before he could leave, he pulled himself up just enough to kiss you again.
"Goodbye, my love.", he whispered.
"I'll see you soon."
Yet another knock on your door. It made you laugh this time. You hurried inside and closed the door. As you straightened out your dress, the door was impatiently pushed open.
"I'm terribly sorry, Eunji.", you said, "I couldn't get the last few buttons done."
"You should've called for my help.", she sighed, "The Queen has asked for your presence at breakfast to discuss wedding plans."
The wedding. You felt your heart sink. How could you have forgotten about the wedding? One of your hands steadied you against your bedframe, while you held the other one to your stomach.
"Are you alright, my Lady?", Eunji asked as she finished buttoning you up.
"Just nervous...", you breathed out.
The wedding had a date. A month after the first day of spring, just to give enough time for preparations. You wished for winter to never end. Persephone could gladly stay by Hades' side, you didn't care. Even though the wedding was all anyone talked about, you hadn't accepted fate just yet. That's why, every night, you would drown your sorrows with the kisses of your lover. Every morning you woke up at dawn to spend more time with him before he had to leave. And when he eventually did have to leave, you could feel your heart getting ripped apart inside your chest. The constant ache only worsened when you were around Prince Sungho, as guilt had started plaguing you whenever you saw him. The Prince would take you out on rides in the forest, on promenades in the gardens, and he even took you on a boat ride once or twice. All of these exceptional experiences, and yet your favorite moments in the castle were those in your bed laying next to Wonwoo.
As spring approached, you grew more reckless. The constant need of being near Wonwoo only grew stronger, and you did everything you could to keep him by your side.
One evening, when you knew that Wonwoo would be going out for a ride, you walked all alone to the stables to meet him. The snow had started melting away, but you tried not to think about it. Nevertheless, it was still very cold outside and not warm enough for anything to have grown. The warmth of the stables welcomed you quickly, as you walked across the floors to where Wonwoo's favorite horse stood. Just as you were about to turn the corner, Wonwoo peeked out from the small room. A smile spread across his lips as soon as he laid his eyes on you.
"Is anyone else here?", you whispered and looked around.
"Only me.", he said and put his arms around your waist, "You must be freezing. Why would you walk outside without a coat?"
"I didn't think to get it.", your arms wrapped around his neck, "And I was in a hurry to see you before you left."
"I was going to go see you tonight, after my ride.", he explained.
"It would be too long of a wait."
"You're so impatient."
One of his hands cupped your cheek and brought you in for a loving kiss. He was so warm. You wanted to melt into him and nest in his chest, to always keep his warmth around you.
"We could run away, you know.", he murmured against your lips, "Spring is approaching, there's not much time left..."
"I don't want to think about it...", you put your hands on his chest to create some distance between him and you.
"Y/N, this is the first time we've ever been alone outside of your chambers.", he sighed, "When you share your chambers with... someone else, we won't be able to see each other like that."
"We can find a way.", you sighed.
"We could run away, my love.", he argued, "We would only bring what was necessary, and we could take two horses. Then we wouldn't have to worry about hiding anymore."
You took a deep breath, leaning your forehead against Wonwoo's chest. While part of you wanted to run away, there was still a big part of you that knew that you had a duty to your people. And that part needed to stay.
"No.", you shook your head, "I can't just abandon my kingdom."
Tears pricked the corners of your eyes. You grabbed at his shirt, partly because you were trying to make him stay close to you, but you also didn't want him to see you cry. As your first sob rocked through your body he didn't try to pull you away, he only held you closer. One of his hands soothingly caressed your back, while the other held onto the back of your head.
"I hate it.", you sobbed, "I hate it so much."
Wonwoo kept quiet but held you even closer. The stables were so unbelievably quiet, that you had forgotten you were even there. But the door opened, making the two of you quickly separate. Tears were still streaming down your face, and there was nothing Wonwoo could do to comfort you. You whispered goodbye and quickly made your way out of the stables.
After that encounter, you didn't stop meeting in public. Whenever no one else was around, you would take the chance to embrace each other. On this particular day, it was the library. This wretched, cursed day.
"Your chambers are just around the corner.", Wonwoo mumbled against your lips, "We could go there."
The two of you were laying on the couch, you on top of him. Your heart felt so full, that you didn't want to move. So, you shook your head at his suggestion and only kissed him again. His strong arms held you tightly against his body. Your hands were in his hair, trying to pull him closer to you. It was dark outside, so a few candles were lit around you.
"I love you.", you murmured, "I really do."
"I love you too.", he smiled at your confession.
"I wish spring never comes...", you sighed and put your head on his chest.
Wonwoo put his hand along your jawline and brought you back up to face him.
"Don't mention spring.", he said, "Just forget about it for a moment. For me, my love."
"For you? I'll do anything.", you grinned and pressed your lips to his again.
The door swung open and your heart sank to the floor. When you looked up, you met the eyes of your fiancé. His first worried look turned into sadness, which transformed into anger. Eunji came up behind him with a horrified look on her face, somehow it was both disappointed and apologetic. You got off Wonwoo and fell off the couch in the process, Wonwoo sat up and helped you to your feet.
"What is this?", Sungho said angrily, "Your chambermaid was worried sick about you, and here you are whoring yourself out for my brother!"
"It's not what it looks like, please-", you tried to plea but he interrupted you.
"I invite you into my home, I promise you all the riches in the land, and this is what you do to me?", he gasped.
"Brother, it's not her fault-"
"Oh, so this is your doing?", Sungho scoffed, "You can't have the throne so you decide to steal my future wife?"
"Please, forgive me, my Prince.", you got down on your knees in front of him, "I promise you, this will never happen again. I will marry you when spring comes, we can just forget about all of this."
Sungho only looked down at you, with so much hatred in his eyes. He looked between you and Wonwoo, studying the situation. Suddenly, you felt him grab your hair and pull you up to your feet. You could hear Wonwoo's protests behind you, but you tried not to think of it.
"Don't beg for me.", he hissed, "I want you to beg him to never come near you again. Show me that you're only loyal to me."
He turned you around to face Wonwoo. His eyes were full of tears and he seemed to be completely speechless. Your bottom lip quivered. What if you had just run away with him? Everything would've been okay now. You could've lived your life out with him in a small cottage in the middle of nowhere, where no one knew who you were.
"Please, never come near me again.", you sobbed out, "I don't ever want to see you again."
"Do you hear that brother?", Sungho taunted, "She doesn't want to see you again. So I suggest you pack up and go on a little trip. If you don't want this... mistake to go public, you will leave the castle until the wedding. You will not see her again until we are married."
Wonwoo didn't break eye contact with you. It felt like his eyes were telling you that it was all okay. That, despite having said a most horrible thing to him, he still loved you and that he understood your situation. He stood up and walked out of the room, bumping into his older brother's shoulder as he did so. Sungho let go of the grip on your hair and you fell to your knees once again.
"Get her to her chambers, maid.", he said to Eunji, "I have other business to attend to."
Eunji rushed to your side and held your trembling body in your arms the best she could. She kept on whispering apologies between her cursing about how you could have been so reckless.
"Princess Y/N.", Sungho said from the doorway, "I am doing you a favor. Do not forget this, as I will not forget what you have done."
He walked out of the library and slammed the door behind him. As his footsteps faded, you felt your body lose its strength. You could no longer sit, let alone stand. Eunji had to bring in more maids to help carry you to your bed.
Heartbreak comes in many forms, sometimes physical. You were sick in bed for days, not eating a thing. People grew worried, asking how the wedding would take place if the Princess wasn't well. They only thought you had an illness, not that your heart had been broken into a billion pieces. So they treated it like any other illness. Only Eunji was allowed to visit you, that is what you had requested. Although you heard voices outside of your room many times. Most of the time it was your mother, she was usually crying. Eunji tried to reassure everyone that you just needed to rest and that the sickness would leave your body eventually. One night, she was sitting by your bedside and washing your body with a cloth. You hadn't been able to move, which meant you couldn't bathe.
"I'm hungry.", you breathed out between chapped lips.
Eunji went into a frenzy as soon as she heard the words. You had pushed away any food that she had brought you, so your hunger was very welcomed. She put you back down against the pillows and put away her rag and bucket.
"What would you like to eat, my Lady?", she asked with happy tears in her eyes.
"Pomegranates.", you whispered and looked over to the balcony, "I want pomegranates."
"Oh... then I shall get you pomegranates, my Lady.", she hurried out the room and shouted down the corridor about the news.
The people were static, and people from all over brought you pomegranates. It was hard to get ahold of at this time of year, but people managed. If anyone knew what you had done, you wondered if they would be so keen on trying to please you. It didn't matter now. Soon enough, Eunji brought you a platter of pomegranates. They were displayed nicely, why you didn't know. There were a few sliced pomegranates, as well as a few whole ones, but most importantly there was a bowl of only pomegranate seeds.
"Here you go, my Lady.", Eunji sat the platter down in front of you.
"Leave.", you whispered.
Eunji nodded and quickly gathered herself and left. You stared at the red fruit in front of you. Persephone ate six of the twelve pomegranate seeds she was given and it gave her six months in the Underworld. With a trembling hand, you took the wooden spoon in the bowl and pushed many pomegranate seeds past your lips. It wasn't enough. You put the spoon away and grabbed a handful of pomegranate seeds from the bowl and shoved them into your mouth. The fruit's juices poured down from the corners of your lips, but you did nothing to stop it. You took more of the seeds and kept shoving them down your throat. The noises that came out of you were disgusting. Gasps and gulps and gargles, but it was drowned out by your thoughts. If you ate many enough it would give you an eternity with Wonwoo. The bowl was empty and, with desperate hands, you clawed at the sliced pomegranates. You ate the white meat around it if you couldn't get the seeds out, and when you finished those you tried to open the whole fruits. You were too weak to even try. He had to be by the balcony now, he had to. You pushed the platter away from you and ripped off the bed sheets. Delirious and quivering, you walked over to the balcony and pulled aside the blinds that were covering the glass door. It was day, but he had to be there already. You opened the door and felt the cold wind against your sweaty body. After finally getting out, you leaned over the railing. He was nowhere to be seen. You desperately looked around, feeling warm tears stream down your face. Eventually, your eyes fell on the tree beside the balcony. Small little green buds had started growing on the otherwise brows twigs. Spring is here.
"No...", your voice was hoarse, "No, no, no..."
You walked over to the tree and tried to pull all of the buds off, getting your hand completely cut open on the sharp branches. A sob came out of your throat as you kept repeating that one word. No. This couldn't be happening. It couldn't be spring already. You stumbled back and looked down at your scathing hand. Blood poured out of all the cuts and you felt sick. You hurled forward, blood-red vomit spewing out of you. All of the pomegranates escaped your stomach. They were rejecting you. There was no savior who could help you now. Everything around you went dark.
When you woke up you were in bed again, and your body felt much lighter. A man you had never seen before was sitting beside you. Eunji, who was sitting on your other side, explained that he was a physician and was treating you for your illness. He had been feeding you liquids to get your strength back, which was why you felt so much better.
"You are allergic to pomegranates.", he explained in an emotionless tone, "I'm guessing you've had one before, but because of the large intake you had a much bigger reaction. If you eat just a little it wouldn't be very noticeable, maybe a slight itch."
"How...", you had to clear your throat, "How long was I out?"
"A few days.", Eunji said, "Since you've been rapidly getting better, preparations for the wedding have started. They want your opinion on a lot of things... but if you would rather not see anyone, you can tell me and I'll deliver the message."
All hope was out. You had given up.
"No... I'll meet them..."
In a matter of weeks, the wedding was upon you. It was the night before, and you were in your bed. Preparing for your wedding had kept you so preoccupied that you hadn't thought of anything else. The knock on your balcony door, therefore, surprised you. When you looked over you met the eyes of Wonwoo, and your heart broke all over again. You pushed aside your blanket and walked over to the door. Wonwoo embraced you as soon as he could, but you didn't reciprocate.
"I've missed you.", he whispered.
"When did you get back?", you asked.
"About an hour ago.", he replied, "Listen, I know that last time I asked this of you, you declined... but this time I have a plan."
"Are you asking me to run away with you?", you murmured as he pulled away from you.
"Tomorrow night.", he said, "There's a boat by the docks, I'm supposed to go alone. We'll be on a different continent."
"You're leaving? Why now?", you cupped his face in his hands.
"My brother convinced my father that I should try being on my own for a while.", he sighed, "He gave me a chance to visit another kingdom we have a treaty with. Once we're there, we can go wherever we want - and nobody will know until it's too late."
"... I don't know if I can choose.", you admit softly.
You blamed everyone in the story of Persephone and Hades for giving her such a horrible fate, but maybe it wasn't so bad after all. Oh, how you wished for a compromise now.
"The boat leaves tomorrow night.", Wonwoo cupped your cheek in his hand, "I won't force you to do anything, and I'm not trying to convince you to go with me... I'm just giving you another chance."
With that, he leaned down and kissed you. It was soft and sweet. You had longed to kiss him again, but still, you felt so heartbroken. He whispered goodbye before disappearing into the night, you knew you wouldn't get another chance to see him before the ceremony.
On the day of the wedding, you could help but cry. Out of anger, sadness, and out of uncertainty. Anger because your father left you to take care of his mess all by yourself. Sadness because you didn't love the man you were about to marry. And uncertainty because you had no idea what choices you would make tonight.
People around you comforted you by saying that it was normal to feel nervous on the big day. You asked to be left alone with Eunji, and for her to do the rest of the preparations for you. She was silent as she was dressing you, and she only spoke up when she had started taking care of your hair.
"I feel guilty, my Lady.", she said.
"About what?", you said between sniffles.
"About that day in the library.", she frowned at you in the mirror, "I truly just thought you had gone missing."
"It's my fault as well.", you assured her, "I guess I should have told you."
She laughed and put a comforting hand on your shoulder, you put your hand on top of hers. The two of you looked at each other with warm smiles, like old friends do.
"I would have liked to know.", she eventually said.
"And I was dying to tell someone.", you admitted, "I'm sorry for not telling you."
"No, no... you did what you thought was best.", she argued, "... was he good to you, my Lady?"
You turned around in your chair and gave her a mischievous smile. Eunji raised her eyebrows and you nodded. Without speaking a single word, the two of you had told so much. Both of you busted out laughing.
"How did you do it?", she asked between giggles.
"He snuck in through the balcony most nights.", you admitted, "Oh, and he was so nice... I've never met anyone like him. He's quiet and reserved, but when he does speak he always knows what to say."
"Not to mention, he's very handsome.", Eunji added, and the two of you broke out into fits of giggles again.
This is what you wanted your wedding to be. You wanted to be able to giggle about what a handsome and charming man your future husband was. In the midst of your laughter, you broke out crying again.
"Oh, my Lady-", Eunji quickly grabbed tissues from the table, "I'm sorry, I shouldn't have spoken about it."
"He asked me to run away with him.", you whispered, "Tonight. By boat."
"But the wedding-"
"I know, I know!", you whaled, "I don't know what to do!"
"My Lady, I don't know much about love.", Eunji crouched down in front of you, "But I can see it on your face, you truly love that man. That is something that no one can take away from you. If you decide to go or not... I won't judge you for it. I just hope you follow your heart. Do what you think is right."
You nodded and took the tissue she offered to wipe away your tears.
The ceremony went fairly quickly. You were lucky you had a veil because you couldn't help but cry once again, even if Eunji had given you a good speech beforehand. Wonwoo was in the crowd, you knew that, but you had no idea where since you didn't dare look. You had made up your mind, or so you thought.
You weren't going to leave with him, not at first at least. During the festivities held afterward, you watched as your now husband held speeches and talked to his peers. He wasn't your person. You knew that, and you were sure that the entire world could see that as well. So, when no one was looking you snuck out into the night. It was already late, and Wonwoo had left an hour earlier. But you just had to take this chance. You couldn't stay with Sungho for the rest of your life.
The white dress turned green and brown from you running through the mud. You had fallen down many times, and you were sure your legs were entirely scratched up. It didn't matter now, you would be with your love forever.
When you reached the docks there was no boat. If you squinted enough, you could see a ship in the distance - it was sailing away from you. You screamed, shouted, yelled, and ran as far as the coast would let you. But to no avail. The boat was gone. Wonwoo was gone. For how long, you didn't know. It was time to accept fate. Betrayed and tired, you made your way back to the castle. You had to ask Eunji for another dress.
Years flew by, and you got along rather well with your husband. You didn't love him, and you never learned to, but you did love the children he gave you. Three children: two boys and the youngest was a girl. They lived in ignorance, along with everyone else in the castle. Only you, Eunji, and Sungho knew of what happened in the past. You tried to forget. But when the King died one night while in his bed, you knew that you had to face your history.
He came in a boat, just like he had left. The years had taken a toll on him, but he wasn't any less beautiful. You wanted to embrace him but held yourself back by holding your arms so hard that your nails dug into your flesh. Wonwoo was only there for the funeral, then he would leave again. You tried not to think about it, or to see him as a stranger, but it was much too difficult.
The children loved him. Wonwoo was great with kids, reminding you that there was so much that you hadn't had the chance to find out about him.
After dinner, you excused yourself to go to the garden. The Queen had let you have it, knowing how much you loved to spend your free time there. Even if you hadn't expected it, you were very pleased when Wonwoo had come after you. Without a word, the two of you embraced, hidden by a large tree and the many purple Phlox. It was the middle of summer, so the green leaves obscured you well.
"I've missed you, so much.", he breathed out.
"Wonwoo...", you pulled away from him, "I want you to know that I tried to go with you that night. I was prepared to leave my life here for you... but I can't do that anymore."
"I know... I know, my love.", he cupped your cheek in his palm, "It's okay. I'm happy for you. You've done so well."
You put your hand on top of his and leaned into his touch. In the distance, you heard a child shouting for you. Another sigh escaped your lips, and you did your best to hold back the tears that threatened to spill out of the corner of your eye.
"I have to go.", you whispered out with a sob stuck in your throat, "But you should know that a day never passes where I don't think of you."
You walked away from him, stopping mid-step when he called your name.
"I never married.", he admitted, "I haven't been able to move on from you."
His words broke you, and a cry escaped your lips. You didn't turn around, you couldn't turn around now. Instead, you wiped away your tears and followed the voice of your child.
Summary: just your boyfriend taking care of your drunken state
a/n: this idea is in my notes for like not that long ago. i really wanted to write this one because i vividly remember how i got drunk at my birthday party and the first thing i saw was changkyun’s message on unvrse. i nearly cried that time LMAO anw enjoy!
“hello” you whispered as soon as you saw your half awake boyfriend opened the door of your shared apartment. he looked at you with not so shocked look.
“i left you with your friends and they are giving you back to me like this?” he looked at your friend who brought you home whose also half drunk.
“i am so sorry. y/n drunk like a motherfucker to the point we thought both of you broken up” she nervously laughed. changkyun said nothing but a deep sigh. he asked your friend if she can handle herself she replied with a yes and explained that she just booked an uber that is why she can go home safely.
changkyun basically dragged you inside your shared apartment due to you just clinging into the man’s arms.
“tonight was a blast” you mumbled and chuckled a bit. he brought you to your bedroom and dropped you to your bed and you instantly catch those Zs.
“not even a goodnight?” he asked not expecting an answer because you were wasted as fuck.
again, he sighed deeply. he took your make up remover and dab it into a cotton pad and sat right next to your sleeping figure.
“this is the last time i will be letting you drink all by yourself with your friends” he sighed knowingly that you will oppose to that idea.
he carefully removed your makeup using the cottonpad he prepared.
“i can smell the alcohol from this distance” he made a fake puking sounds, “you are reeking” he snort.
he took your pajama set off your closet and decided to change your clothes by himself.
you were so uncooperative but changkyun succeeded on changing your reeking clothes into a fresh set of night clothing.
as soon as he finished taking care of your sleeping body he lay beside you, kissed your forehead, and sleep beside you cuddling you.
morning arrived. and the first thing you said is “i won’t ever be drinking alcohol ever again” as you opened your eyes fresh from sleep.
last night was, not gonna lie, a blast. you and your friends drunk beers as if tomorrow is not coming and the world will be ending soon. it was a night out that is why your boyfriend changkyun is not with you to take care of your drunken state while at where the party happened.
you were so shocked to see that your clothes are changed into something more comfortable. you also felt your face not breaking down due to changkyun doing your skin care routine while you were sleeping which made you smile. your boyfriend never really dissapoints. this is one of the main reasons why you love the man, he pays attention to small little things and never fails to take care of you. this still blows your mind especially flatter your heart even more.
you look around you trying to find your sweet boyfriend to thank him for his kind gesture but in you saw no one which made you feel disappointed.
you saw your phone laying on the side table and decided to check the time. the first thing you noticed is how your phone battery is fully charged. even your phone he never fails to take care of.
it was almost two in the afternoon and saw changkyun’s text. you immediately opened the message and read his message.
kyun: i know you are regretting your decision on drinking last night
kyun: medicines are right beside the soup i ordered for your breakfast
kyun: it will, i hope, make you feel better
kyun: i left early in the morning because i have to meet up with hyungwon hyung
kyun: i know my love is sleeping but i just wanna tell you that i really love you
kyun: hope you have a good night without a anh dream
kyun: i just wanna let you know that i am always on your side
kyun: no matter what
kyun: how can i forget the love you gave
kyun: i love you
you felt your heart flattering. your eyes in sweating.
“awwwww” you audibly said covering your mouth trying not to cry. how can yoh ever deserve a man like him?
you immediately ringed his phone and at the 3rd ring he answered it.
“i see the princess has woken up” you heard he said in other line.
“i love you too changkyun. i really do. thank you for everything” he mumbled.
A/N: This came from a few discussions and a crack laced phone call with my friend, I hope you all enjoy it! Originally, it was just Wonho, but I couldn’t leave out the rest of the crew. Also, I’m aware that Wonho’s a soloist now, and that he has his own thing, but I thought it’d be fun to include the other members in this particular imagine :)
18+, cussing, comedic violence??, flirting, mildly suggestive, crack, fluff, she/her pronouns, fem reader, (I may make this into a series), IHOP is owned by TBZ across the way and they have beef. Gifs not mine, enjoy
You were jobless and drifting from town to town, hoping to settle down eventually. You walked into a small diner one night, just getting in from the freezing wind of the bitter autumn weather. You shivered in your jacket, having saw the small restaurant lights from down the dark and abandoned street. You looked around the place, seeing it had been built quite a long time ago. It had a retro feel to it, with it’s old fashioned chairs, countertops, and a real life jukebox in the corner. It was almost as if you’d stepped into a different world. A few Christmas decorations lined the booths and windows.
Which would have been an amazing thing any other day, other than the fact the entire restaurant was completely empty. The only form of welcome that you had was a small blinking light that read “Welcome to Denny’s” and a festive sign that stated “ring bell for service.” You debated on whether or not to ring the bell. For all you know, the people in this town could be cannibals or something. You had two choices. Head back out into that storm, jobless and hungry, or see what would happen if you rang that bell. Fuck it. What was the worst that could happen at a Denny’s?
As soon as the bell chimed though, you heard a loud clang come from the back where the kitchen was, and several concerning crashes as if plates were being broken. You heard voices as 7 eager men came piling out of the back, yelling “WELCOME!!” at you. You had no idea what you’d just gotten yourself into…
Wonho:
The cheerfully optimistic one
Smiley, loud, and kinda rowdy, but a perfect host
Has the biggest fucking beef with the IHOP across the way, will get pissed if someone mentions it
Changkyun accidentally mentioned the place in conversation once when they had a full house of people
Wonho’s eye twitched the whole day, which scared the customers a little, but they knew how he was
It was a small town after all
Takes you to your seat, gives you a menu
Offers to get you a towel to dry your hair
You find out that he’s the main host to greet people at the front, due to his personality (really, Shownu put him there because he was pretty)
He and the other guys are a bit worried to see a girl out so late
He asks one of them them to place a closed sign on the door as he sits down across from you
Politely talks with you and has Kihyun warm up something for you
As he listens to you talk, he takes your hand, rubbing small circles on it with his thumb
“Aww sweetheart, I’m so sorry to hear that. But uh, if you’re not busy, we’re hiring? We could use some female staff around here”
Your eyes widen dramatically
Did this guy just offer you a job? No resume or experience given?
“Hey, I do all the hiring around here.” Another tall guy comes up, setting a cup of coffee in front of you.
“Aw, hyung, can we keep her? Please?”
Shownu:
The tired dad
Sits down next to you and shoos Wonho back to the kitchen, making the younger boy pout
He asks if you can work in a high stress environment
Or if you have any criminal records he should know about
He can’t just have anyone work there
When he’s certain you’re not a wanted criminal, he gives you a job on the spot: hostess
You learn that he is the owner of this fine establishment (and is secretly friends with the owner of the IHOP across the street, Sangyeon)
No one in town knows how he managed to stay open though
Especially with the crackhead crew of waiters working for him
(and with how many times they call the fire department in a month, they should’ve probably closed down by now)
He never hired anyone besides the six buffoons that are milling around
So for him to be hiring you just like that comes as a shock to everyone
(everyone being Minhyuk and Jooheon who were eavesdropping)
He tells you about the special of the day, and asks if you’d like to try it
Tells you not to worry about paying, since all the employees can eat for free
Which leaves your mouth hanging in shock, because it’s still processing that you’re now a hostess
He laughs at you, patting the top of your head as he gets up to go back to the kitchen
Not before refilling your mug with coffee though
Minhyuk:
The sassy social butterfly
Knows everybody’s secrets
Not exactly a busybody, people just tend to feel comfortable enough to tell him their life story
The restaurant stays popular partially due to him and Jooheon
Tourists having a bad day, or families passing through on a road trip always recommend the restaurant on Yelp for having very comfortable customer service
It makes him feel special, which sometimes can puff up his head
But he never gets too carried away
Also in on the IHOP beef, and is the reason behind mot of the bigger fights/pranks
Is unhinged when it comes to getting one up or revenge on said establishment
As he brings you some toast and hot chocolate, he sits down, with a gleam in his eye
A gleam that his coworkers know all too well
Kihyun calls it the devil stare
He attempts to get information about you, as if you didn’t hear him and Jooheon gossiping about what you revealed to Wonho as they eavesdropped
Their talents are being nosy, not quiet
He fails at getting you to open up more than you already did, but he does learn that you’re single ;)
Offers to be your personal matchmaker (or match, cause he’s single and cute and he knows it)
Kihyun:
Done with everything (is also the cook)
“Lee Minhyuk! Quit trying to be a matchmaker and leave her alone.”
Is absolutely done with everyone’s shit
A.K.A. all his coworkers either flirting with him or needing to be babysat
“If I get one more comment about my butt, I’m burning this place down”
Which is usually happening at the same time
Needs at least seven glasses of wine to get him through the day
Someone give the boy a raise, because he didn’t sign up for this shit
Though the job does come with perks
The local moms love him
If they come in with their kids, and one is crying, Kihyun to the rescue
He’s always good at calming them down, never shy to sit at a table and hold or feed a baby
Is asked on a lot of dates (he’s high key a fashionista, will not be caught DEAD in anything that doesn’t reek high class, bougie, and expensive, so the ladies, young and old, love him)
Even his apron is bejeweled/flashy
Brings you a steaming bowl of soup, and a seemingly freshly cooked steak dinner
Greets you warmly and makes himself at home at your table (with a mysteriously acquired glass of cabernet sauvignon)
Provides comfort in the way only a parent can
Pats your hand and tell you to not worry about working with them and promises to show you the ropes
He too has beef with IHOP, but usually more chill about it than the others
Is frenemies with Chanhee
Hyungwon:
Busser/waiter
Generally doesn’t understand where the beef between IHOP and Denny’s began
Joins in nonetheless, unless he’s asleep
Which is most times
He keeps his job solely because he’s good at it, and because no one else wants to scrape the gum off the tables
The only semi-normal one in the establishment besides Shownu
But if you give him coffee and enough sleep, he’s keeping up with Minhyuk and Wonho
Helps plan the next schemes/pranks to get one over on “the enemy”
Takes dance classes at the local college for fun
Doesn’t have too many hobbies aside from going to the library (Jooheon and Minhyuk force him to go to the movies or skate park)
Did I mention sleep is a way of life?
Any part of his day that doesn’t require physical effort is reserved for a nap, no matter how brief
Is frenemies with Younghoon, their parents know each other
(they play games together on weekends, don’t tell Minhyuk)
Jooheon:
The “obviously in your business” cook and table delivery assistant ( a title he gave himself)
Is the type to sit at a table for the gossip with his regulars
“And then what happened?”
Shownu often catches him at a table, unaware of the his presence behind him at a table
He’ll smack him with a towel and send him back to the kitchen
Which makes everyone giggle a little
Not that it does much, since he’ll be drawn/called to another table soon
Very popular among the teens for his badass look and cool vibe
But Jooheon is also very sweet, and not judgmental to his customers
Although his intimidating looks sometimes are helpful in keeping riff raff away from the restaurant
He hates when Shownu puts him on guard duty though
He’s a lot more scared than he lets on
(He makes Shownu kill spiders for him)
Best friends with Minhyuk
They’re usually the main culprits behind any pranks pulled inside or outside the restaurant
Wickedly smart, subs at the local college sometimes
He works at the restaurant because he loves cooking for others and causing mischief
Changkyun:
The baby, also a waiter
Everyone’s favorite
Popular with every age group
Able to make even grumpiest old people crack a smile
Very social boi, always smiling and professional for the customers (he needs those extra tips)
Usually has a flower in his hair that the customers will bring in
A little cynical at times, and often dresses in black, but not enough to be an edgelord
Wears glasses because he’s smart (get’s straight A’s in his college courses)
Best friends with Wonho (loves to give him attitude though)
“Yes, that’s a rose in my hair Wonho. What about it?”
Will fight anyone who insults his hair flowers
He follows Hyungwon around the restaurant most days, (mainly to make sure he doesn’t fall asleep anywhere dangerous)
Is loved on by all the staff (since he can be very affectionate at times)
But they also like to embarrass him
He can’t even look at someone for two seconds without the rest of the boys going “Oooooh, Changkyun is in loveee”
Summary: playing poker with shownu is actually fun
a/n: wrote this for my twitter au. this was my first time writing this kind of narrative so i decided to edit it a bit into english and upload it here. enjoy! (i also have no idea in poker :3)
you and shownu's arrived in okada and check in together in one room. you were fixing yours and shownu's things nicely while he is taking a bath.
"what do we do next?" you asked, shouting across the room. shownu hummed thinking what they should do next.
"what do YOU want to do?" shownu asked.
"you choose. you paid, right?" chuckling, you said, "i am here to be your companion today"
"wanna start gambling? yeah let's do that" shownu steped out of the bathroom, half naked. as soon as you saw him like that, you immediately looked away and pretend not to see anything and pretend you are occupied with something.
"come one you don't have to look away quickly like that. im offended" shownu jokingly said.
"silly" you laughed, "ill just change my clothes" you retouched your make up and wore a silky black dress that is complimenting your body. you curled your hair and you're ready to go.
"let's go" you queued shownu.
"you look beautiful" shownu stepped closee to you, snaking his hands around your waist. he placed a chaste kiss on your shoulders, and start nibbing your neck.
you held shownu's cheeks stoping him from placing an another kiss on your skin. hyunwoo look at you looking like a child asking his mom for a chocolate which made you laugh.
"we do not want to stay here all day right?" you teased, smiling. you knew how you are affecting shownu.
"we could stay all day" shownu said then proceeds to kiss your lips hungrily. you were smiling between your kisses but you stood up to your stand. tapping shownu's shoulders, he seperates.
whinning he said, "all right, all right" he grabbed your hands and left the room
upon arriving to the place, you both sat down in a table to play poker. you were supposed to seatdown beside shownu but he pulled you closer making you seat on his right thigh. you was stunned but you just let him do what he wants. the game started, which was surprisingly going smooth. he's lost some chips but eventually won doubles.
"straight flush" the dealer announced making shownu win the round.
another round is starting again, you are sipping to your champagne and watching how the other guys fuming over shownu who is currently enjoying his game. after seeing his card, shownu leaned back and pushed a couple of chips highering his bet.
you felt hyunwoo's hands kneading your thigh. you immediately look back what he is up to but he is just currently chill on his chair. you just let the guy enjoy your thigh, you worked hard for her thigh why not let the man enjoy what you worked hard for.
you took a sip on your champagne but choked when you felt shownu's fingers on your clothed core. shownu started rubbing your clit in circular motion which is making you insane. knowing that people might see you both but doing this just adds up to your anticipation on what will happen next.
your breathe starts to go deeper and slower as shownu started to insert his fingers inside your underwear and placing his middle finger inside you. he start moving his finger in slow pace making you go insane due to slow simulation. you held his wrist making shownu chuckle while caught your attention and looking back at him. you him smirk and you knew why because on that exact moment you felt two fingers inside you with so much faster pace. you let out a small whimper while fidgeting hyunwoo's chips between your fingers.
"you don't want anyone to hear that you are a slut for my fingers right?" shownu pushed back your stray hair with his freehand making you nod her head. you're currently biting your lips trying to hold in your moans. the last thing you want to do is get banned to this casino, right?
"all in" hyunwoo announced his last bet pushing the chips leaving one piece you are holding to fidget while containing your pleasure in silent. at this point, your elbow is now placed on the table.
you let out a small chuckle when you felt shownu hitting your sweet spots. chuckles to hide your moans. you placed your left hands on shownu's left thigh to support your body who is now near to your release.
everyone in the table is one by one revealing their cards, shownu pulled you closer and placed his chin on your shoulder with his was freehand is now occupying your clit, massaging it gently making you dig her nails on hyunwoo's thigh.
"sir?" you knew shownu's hands are occupied so you reached for his cards and revealed his cards. "royal flush"
you felt a knot nearing to your release, "come on, don't be shy" shownu whipered to your ear nibbing your ear. upon hearing his deep voice you felt your release to his fingers. hyunwoo was still not stopping his pace, but instead making it a lot faster.
"shownu " you whimpered.
"what?" you closed your eyes and bit your lips due to this oversimulation.
"fold" hyunwoo announced pushing his cards and watch the other players play.
"shownu" you whispered-moan and released to your high. hyunwoo remove his fingers, bringing out his handkerchief cleaning you off.
you lead back on his chest to catch your breath.
"that was amazing" you said. still not believing you did all of that in public.
"of course it is amazing" shownu laughed. you tired to sit comfortably but halt when you felt something behind you.
"do you wanna go back to our room?" you whispered.
"thank you very much for asking because i am close bending you down in this table and fuck you endlessly infront of everyone"

“can the both of you stop?” hyungwon questioned since he was sitting in between of you
“i will if y/n stop existing”
“excuse me, my existence is needed. yours wasn’t”
“i can prove you otherwise”
“suck my cock kihyun”
“fuck you”
hyungwon just had it
he’s done
he doesn’t want both of you to be his friend
jk or not
at this point it is a daily routine for both of you to quarrel
a day is not complete with out you or kihyun bickering
hyungwon is praying on all saints he could think of just for both of you just shut up for like a day and give him a peace in his life
hyungwon just wants to have a peaceful time then sleep but all he gets is both of you bickering
he hates to be both of you as his roommates he loves both of you
“y/n, kihyun cooked a food earlier we left you some. go eat” hyungwon said without looking at you, just starting at his phone while slouching at the couch
you just come home from school, you came home early due to absence of your professor
“where’s kihyun?” you asked
“why? you missed him already? why don’t you guys just kiss already?”
“are you still on that agenda?”
hyungwon kept on saying that you both just date each other sometimes just kiss already everytime you and kihyun is in heated argument just to calm you both down, but it was ending up both of you and kihyun teaming up on hyungwon poor guy
“can you just answer the question?”
“yeah, he’s out”
you changed into a more comfy clothes and go directly to the kitchen and check the dish left for you.
it is a shrimp dish
cool! thats your favorite! if you are allergic to seafoods i am so sorry
you took a bowl and scoop some but saw nothing but heads of shrimps
just heads of shrimps
no body
just
head
“hyungwon what the fuck!”
“what!” he screamed back
“why offer me this when i have nothing to eat here!”
“there is left there!” hyungwon showed up behind you and look on the casserole to see a dish with just shrimp heads
“oh”
“sorry bud” he just strung off and go back to being a couch sloth
you just rolled your eyes in frustration because you knew kihyun did this
one day, while kihyun is doing his thing in his room, you don’t know what
you saw his phone just laying there, unattended
it hit you
you must revenge
pissed the fuck out off him
make his blood boil
you chuckled silently and walk towards his phone
you gently removed his screen protector and placed his phone gently
you were surprised when a notification came up and you drop his phone accidentally making a loud toud
with your luck you saw no cracks on kihyun’s phone
“what was that?” he yelled from his room
“nothing” you yelled back trying not to be suspicious
you checked again his phone and doubled check if his phone were okay
you opened it to really check through if you didn’t do any damage on it but revealing his lockscreen
you noticed it was a familiar figure but the face was covered due to hyungwon’s message which is the reason why it rang earlier
you, being a nosy bitch, you removed the notification to check who it was on his lockscreen revealing your face in it
you were beyond shock
it was your sleeping face placed on the coffee table of your living room surrounded by your books
you assumed it was your final week
you immediately turned it off when you heard door opening
“why are you so shocked seeing me? first time seeing a gorgeous human being like me?” he smirked
“in your dreams” you immediately stood up and ran out of your apartment to get some fresh air
what was that?
‘where u, jgh. kihyun mad @ u. go home quickly’ you received this message from hyungwon
this dude does not even try when jt comes in texting
you just sighed
opening the door you saw kihyun standing up, hands on his hips, ready to nag you
“what is this” showing his phone
“phone”
“no”
“then you answer your question, what is that” you brought back the question at him
“all i see is my phone naked, no screen protection on it”
“good to know that you can observe” you replied, you really don’t have the energy to bicker with him
all of your energy were sucked out just thinking how why your face were on his lockscreen
does he like you?
but he clearly do not like you?
why do you feel butterflies just knowing the fact that he willingly put your face as his lockscreen
you dont want to assume
do you like him?
“y/n! are you even listening?” kihyun yelped
you took a deep sigh and said, “ill lay for replacement. just i need you to shut up for a moment. i do not have energy left”
“what happened? are you okay?” he asked, his expression softed
that confuses you even more
he took a step towards you and look at your face, placing both of his hands on your cheeks cheking your face
“are you y/n?” he asked, “do you have a fever?”
you tensed up. you are now looking in his worried face
you don’t know if your skills on reading people’s expressions broke but you saw a genuine worried faced on kihyun making you push him
“dont come closer to me” you mumbled and run directly to your room
you heard hyungwon teasing kihyun like “omg look what you have done, now coax y/n”
days passed by, you tried to avoid kihyun
whenever he tried talking to you, you run
you saw him in campus, you run
saw him in the apartment, run
all you did was run
kihyun was perplexed
he kept on asking hyungwon including himself what he had done
hyungwon doesn’t know either but end up just him teasing kihyun which made kihyun more perplexed
one day, he had enough of you running away from him
he saw you in campus but right before you run away he ran directly to you
and surprise surprise you tripped, causing kihyun to catch up with you
he even laughed before helping you get up
again you tried to flee but failed because kihyun is holding your wrist tightly
“where are you going?” he asked
“i have class”
“no you don’t”
“how did you know”
“just because”
“then i have a class”
again, you tried to flee but failed horribly
“what do you want?!” frustrated, you asked
“uh”
“kihyun”
“my phone protector” he spat, not knowing what to say
“fine” you sigh
you both are now walking to your local phone accessories shop
it was so quiet, it was killing both you and kihyun
kihyun doesn’t know what to say because he is used on both of you on each other’s neck all the time
but this time you weren’t complaining how disgusted you are walking in a same space with him, or breathing the same air with him, or how embarrassed you are seeing both of you together in public
on your case, you can’t seem to calm your heart. you were flustered, your guts are flipping
you do not know how to address this huge ass elephant, it was more hard to address because you are the only one who can see this elephant
frustrated, you didn’t know you were holding your breath. breathing slowly
“we’re here” kihyun announced and walked inside the shop
the employees greated the both of you and asked what both of you were looking
kihyun answered enthusiastically saying he needed a screen protector for his phone
you walked silently behind him, minding your own business with your messed up thought
you were shocked when kihyun snapped you out of your thought
“y/n pay” poking your cheeks
you slapped away his hands making him laugh and you paid right away after you fished some cash out of your wallet
both of you were standing awkwardly while waiting for kihyun’s phone to be fixed
kihyun had enough
“okay what was the problem”
“huh, what problem” you brushed it off
“you kept on avoiding me”
“i do not”
“you are, care to explain?” he is looking at you intensely which making you nervous even more
“nothing, really, nothing” you chuckled nervously, avoiding kihyun’s eye contact
“look at me y/n and tell me why” he placed his index finger beneath your chin making you look at him
you quickly retreated when your eyes met due to sudden nervousness you felt
“here is your phone sir” the worker interrupts your conversation happening he held it up high to show his work, and yet again, kihyun’s phone lit up exposing your face in it
quickly, kihyun took his phone and put it inside his pocket and chuckled nervously
he lightly patted the workers shoulders thanking them while chuckling nervously
you slowly looked at you, terrified
“y/n”
“i think we should talk about that outside the store” you calmly said even though you knew your heart are not even calming down a bit
“we should” you both thanked the workers and decided to talk to the store’s parking lot
“so” he looks around, trying to avoid your gaze
you are now putting him jn pressure on the way you are just looking right directly at him waiting for an explanation
“i can explain” he immediately said looking directly at your eyes
“please do, I’ve been thinking about that lockscreen ever since”
“wait what did you just said? ever since?”
“i saw that when i removed your screen protector”
“i see” he sighed
“do i need to lie?” he asked
“tell me yoo kihyun, why do you need to lie?”
“because i dont want my nemesis know that i like them?”
“say what?” you asked, shocked
“i like you y/n”
silence
you don’t even know what to say
“i mean, I’ve been so rude to you ever since you stomped on my poor toes and did not even apologize for it. but days goes on, living with you weren’t bad after all. i even wanted to spend my whole life with you. okay that maybe too much to ask but that is beside-”
“i like you too dumbass”
“now say what?” he dumbfoundedly asked
“dont make me repeat myself” you chuckled fluffing his hair way from his face
“wait really?”
“maybe”
“come on y/n”
“just kidding” you gave the man a hug
he gave you a hug back rubbing your back
“thank you” he whispered
“yeah sure” you laughed
“fucking hell. i am not suffering from you bickering but now i have to suffer for being your 3rd wheel? you’ve got to be kidding me” hyungwon complained as he saw both of you cuddling in your couch
