by the time the words “hey richie, listen, i think i got him, man, i think i killed it, i think i killed it for real-” appear on his wrist, richie has already moved out of derry and the memories of It and the town and his friends have already started to fade, but richie still can’t help but he filled with dread every time he looks down at his wrist.

27 years later, he drops down from the deadlights, just barely conscious when he feels hands on his shoulders and eddie’s familiar voice speaking to him. but then eddie starts to recite the lines that richie had already memorized because he had looked at them for every day of his adult life and richie realizes what it means.

richie tries to scream no, but eddie’s words are cut off a moment later, the exact same way the words abruptly end on his wrist, and all richie can see is the claw jutting out of eddie’s chest and the look of terror on eddie’s face- eddie, who richie had always hoped, but just now confirmed, was his soulmate.

and he didn’t even know until it was too late.
