Summary:After paying for your new nails, Rafe becomes weirdly obsessed with them and won't stop finding excuses for you to use them on him
You'd only gotten your nails done that morning.
Long almond shaped, shiny black. Nothing crazy.
Rafe paid for them without even looking at the price.
"Get whatever you want."
So you did. At first you thought he wouldn't even notice. You were wrong. The second you got in his truck he grabbed your hand off the center console.
"The hell is this?" You rolled your eyes. "My nails" "They're sharp."
"That's kinda the point." For some reason that made him grin. The whole day he wouldn't leave them alone.
Every time you reached for something he'd take your hand and look at them again like he'd never seen nails before.
By the evening you were sitting on the dock while the sun started dropping over the water. Rafe was stretched out beside you with his head in your lap.
Without thinking you ran your fingers through his hair. Immediately his eyes closed. "There it is." "What?" "That." You laughed. "You're weird." "Nah. Do it again."
So you scratched lightly against his scalp with your new nails. The sound he made was honestly embarrassing.
"Oh my God." "Rafe." "Keep going." You nearly fell off the dock laughing.
Later, when you were walking back toward the truck, you dragged your nails lightly down his back through his t-shirt.
He actually stopped walking. "You good?" "Yeah."
"You froze."
"I know." "You are ridiculous." He just grabbed your hand again.
The next few days got worse. You'd poke him in the arm. He liked it. Scratch his neck. Liked it. Playfully jab his shoulder. Liked it.
One afternoon at the country club you stabbed a nail into his side after he stole your drink. Not hard. Just enough. Rafe looked down at you. "You just stab me?"
"Maybe." "Do it again." You stared at him.
"What is actually wrong with you?" He shrugged. Then he took your hand and kissed the tips of your fingers. "Best money I've ever spent." "You bought a boat."
"Second best money I've ever spent. And somehow he was completely serious.
