At a very young age, girls are taught that to get a guy’s attention, to be wanted, to be seen, heard .. anything, she needs sex appeal. From a young age we are taught that less clothes, gets us the attention.
A young age boys are taught that sexy, scandalous clad women, are desirable and that is what you drive your attention towards. However, in the same breath they are taught that these women, dressed barely, are not to be respected. In the same breath, girls are taught that they are not respecting themselves for dressing that way, for wanting to be desired, or even because they want to, or even dressed for the weather. That they deserve whatever they get as a result of dressing in said way.
And I noticed that given the context of the situation … men express, very vocally, their desire, and how much they approve of the woman and how little she is wearing. … Then place that same women in a different scenario, dressed the same, she becomes a whore, undesirable, attention seeker. some how she becomes beneath you, even if she is the picture of what you wanted, or at least liked a few moments ago.
This is a major problem. You don’t get to drool over a person one minute then scoff at her at the next.
Yes there is a time and a place for everything, attire included, but that is no reason to objectify and then dismiss and disrespect a person. It’s a sad trend I’ve noticed since I was young. But these series of posts help put that perspective, into words and thoughts I could not describe until now.
