thinking about how twilestia fanfic writers will often employ the "we've grown out of the student and mentor dynamic so now its morally fine" angle and I do respect and enjoy that approach, but I think there's something so special about the idea that maybe we never fully grow out of that dynamic, maybe twilight just doesn't forget how celestia practically raised her, but they just look at that and go "well, we can make something new. we don't have to forget the past to make room for the future." and it's different because it can't not be. twilight is still comforted by celestia's motherly aura and celestia still enjoys caring for one of her little ponies, it's just something else now too.

What’s your favorite ship and gender variation/orientation on that it?

Oh shit I missed this for like almost two straight months

Honestly it's really hard. I think I'm the sort of guy who is more interested in the story than in the ship itself - like I could be compelled by basically anything if it was carried by a good story. I think twilestia and lunestia have some great story in the actual show, so they loom pretty large for me.

As far as ships where I'm bringing the story, I'm vibing with a suuuuuper codependent VinylPlay (Vinyl scratch and her older bro long play). I actually think it'd be such a great twist if Vinyl was transmasc in that story, specificially bc of his obsession with Long Play, but LP forcefems him during sex... Like forcing Vinyl to choose between having him and being him. That would go so hard.

I also like the idea of limepie being similarly toxic - Limestone as the object of her father's affections, and Pinkie being the one Lime takes out all her aggression on. Pinks would be absolutely wrecked by smth like that. Could even make a neat "origin story" for Pinkemena - a more legit DID take on that whole thing where Lime's abuse created the alternate personality. I'm not quite as enchanted by that but it's getting there.

And THEN. Ok so my big thing rn is Twilda - Twilight and Gilda. I'm working on this story where they're both victims of CSA (Twilight by Celestia, Gilda by an old flight coach) and meet at a support group.. then get involved in a really fucked up "relationship" due to shared trauma. Ngl the more I write the more I'm into it.
