In early 2001, fatigue wasn’t something that *NSYNC talked about publicly very often, but it was visible. Even friends and family felt exhausted just watching their schedule. The signs were there long before anyone asked about going on a “break.”

Based on the NASCAR schedule, this commercial probably aired the week before the Sam’s Club 200 and the Pop Secret Popcorn 400 — so between Oct 27 and Nov 2, 2001. Given Lance and Joey’s availability after the PopOdyssey Tour, maybe they filmed it in the fall? If anyone knows, drop it in the comments.

In the Behind the Boards episode of Unsynchronized, I raised two #QTNA about how JC Chasez’s songs were positioned on Celebrity. He co‑wrote a third of the album, yet the promo materials barely mention him — even crediting “Selfish” to Brian McKnight alone. And “The Game Is Over” was grouped with the singles despite never being released. The way his work was framed says a lot about how the era treated him as a songwriter.

Most people don’t realize that JC Chasez wrote two songs for the debut album of Popstars Season 2 winners Scene 23. Here’s footage of them performing one of those tracks, “He Said, She Said,” during their season finale concert. The album came out in 2001 but didn’t make a big impact, so JC’s contributions to it rarely get talked about. Most people don’t realize how much creative work JC Chasez was doing outside the *NSYNC bubble. This 2000 studio session with Wild Orchid is one of those moments — a glimpse into the kind of production work he was doing with lesser‑known acts at the time. Their album 'Fire' was recorded between 1999 and 2000 and scheduled for release in June 2001, but RCA shelved the project before it ever reached stores.
