transphobes arent allowed in the tes fandom bc argonians are canonically trans
First rule of the Thieves Guild, don't talk about the Thieves Guild. Second rule of the Thieves Guild, don't mess with the New Guy.
(Also yes I'm aware that Mercer transforms into Sean Bean in the third panel, I'm not sure how I managed it)
So I don’t go off about it here as much as I do on Twitter, but fantasy food is My Passion and I really wanted to make something to explain why alsjdfjs
Always found it really cool how culture and environment reflect a country’s cuisine in real life, and how this can be applied in fantasy too! Tamriel’s pretty diverse, so I thought it’d be cool to take a common dish (bread, in this case) and showcase how different it is throughout the provinces! Some tidbits are based on lore/in game texts (what I could gather, that is) though most of it is just headcanon, haha

one of the most disappointing things to me about Skyrim is how the Thieves Guild went from being an organization of poor people watching out for and protecting each other and banding against the ruling class in Oblivion, and then the Thieves Guild in Skyrim are just a gang of thugs that shake down poor people and do the bidding of one of the richest families in the province.
fallout fan, tes fan, it doesn’t matter what you are a fan of… we all lose under todd’s ceaseless tyranny
if youve ever said let people enjoy things in defense of the elder scrolls youre a fake fan. all us real elder scrolls fans hate it here
you made a whole blog dedicated to hating on games you dont play or like or know much about, and complaining about a fanbase you only hear second-hand accounts about. trying desperately to stir drama because you're just that bored. id like to introduce you to a wild new concept of going outside.
I made this blog like two years ago to be a sideblog because I liked TES, now it sorta serves as a throwaway blog that's TES-adjacent. I literally have less than a hundred followers here, you guys are the ones spreading my posts and stirring up drama lmao.
Also... I DO like TES I'm just really critical of it (and of Bethesda themselves) lately. I've put hundreds if not thousands of hours into Skyrim, Oblivion, played through Arena, tried out ESO and Morrowind. You can like things and also be aware that they aren't always great.
tldr you’re allowed to like shitty/evil characters just like... don’t be stupid about it lmao
Wild that “female character who supports slavery as well as doing other problematic things that tesblr won’t let you say a single word against without calling you a misogynist” describes more than one character
LMAO RIGHT
I need you all to understand I literally could not care less about Morrowind and at this point I’m just using this blog to vent about tesblr shit I heard secondhand. Like I don’t even follow any tes blogs that’s why you don’t see me reblog shit.
A friend will tell me about shit going on in the tesblr fandom and I’ll just spew shit here. I don’t even know shit about Almalexia lmao I had to ask what she did wrong to make that post people are so angry about. They said it was annoying that tesblr glorified Almalexia and gave shit to anyone who didn’t (thanks for proving that btw) so I made a post about it. I haven’t even played Morrowind beyond ten minutes (it crashed and I never bothered picking it up again).

me: Do you think Almalexia had girl power?
tesblr: Of course.
me: Do you think she effectively utilized girl power by punishing her people for ‘lack of faith’ with ash storms, allowing slavery to flourish when she could have easily abolished it, betraying and killing her husband, and unleashing mechanical creatures into her own city to frame Sotha Sil?
I need you all to understand that female characters can be just as capable of evil as male characters and the only reason I’m singling out Almalexia here is because you all like to act like she did literally nothing wrong at all ever and anyone who isn’t kissing her (and your) ass is just a misogynist when it’s really not that deep. Let villains be villains, it’s still woobifying even when they’re a woman.
Also you’re not slick by vagueposting about me when I’m the only one saying this shit out loud lmao
This perspective isn’t anywhere near as progressive as you think it is.
Historically, amongst Morrowind fans, the attitude toward Almalexia has been somewhere between apathy and outright demonisation, with a lot of misogynist rage directed towards her for seemingly ‘leading the Nerevarine on’ (or even just for being a female character who is antagonistic to you, the main character), or with some Nerevar/Voryn fans killing her off or/and cutting her out of the picture completely, to just list two example reactions.
The change of attitude towards her has largely been in tesblr and also largely been within the last four years or so i.e. recent. A lot of 'Almalexia can do no wrong’ is pushback against people repeatedly insisting that she’s evil, a psychopath/sociopath (labels to demonise mentally ill people), [insert ableist armchair diagnosis here], etc. while accepting that Vivec or Sotha Sil can be morally ambiguous without insisting that they are terrible every five seconds. Most Almalexia fans know and actually appreciate that Almalexia is a complex and multi-faceted character with flaws, who does morally questionable and sometimes straight-up terrible things; the 'Almalexia does nothing wrong’ stuff is usually a flippant, joking reaction that comes with an eye-roll after being insisted a million times that she is in fact, awful. People do not seriously think that she did nothing wrong and do not seriously condone her. They are joking largely because they’re frustrated that people won’t let them appreciate morally questionable or even villainous female characters without being hounded about it.
I feel like this post is an example of that and is poking at what is genuinely a non-issue, instead contributing to a climate where female characters are expected too often to be flawless, else be picked apart, and any appreciation of a morally complex/villainous figure like Almalexia (who helped push back the Nordic conquest, saved her city from Mehrunes Dagon, her resistance to Imperial imperialism in the 3rd era etc. and did not only do bad things, but also did bad things like you listed above) is questioned unless the poster is self-flagelating about how evil the character also is every five minutes.
1: Do you really expect me to read all that
2: Idc I think Morrowind fans are so annoying whether they glorify or demonize this one specific lady
ur not being original by hating almalexia. misogynist gamerbros have been doing that for years
I don’t hate Almalexia, I hate tesblr lmao
