My USSR died via Crumbling, a disease only countries can get when their government becomes unstable and potentially volatile. His body cracked and the magic keeping him alive started leaking out and dissipating. He was already ill from corruption, so his condition worsened rapidly over a few months until his body broke apart near midnight, December 25, 1991. Now he didn’t just crumble into dust, his body broke into chunks of warm, semi-soft, rock-like material, and near-black liquid coated them all and the area where he died (along with what was left of his insides). It was and is a rather gruesome way for a country to go out.

DAMN— OH MY GOD. Jesus fuck, man. poor guy. I can only imagine (in the event you wrote Russia to be his child) how Russia must have felt :( Like imagine seeing your father essentially decomposed like Christ on a stick. If he’s not the dad then in that case I still can’t imagine seeing/hearing about that. I’d love to draw that scene actually that’s so great. Well done, that’s just phenomenal work!!

My countryhumans vary in the amount of languages they know, can learn, and understand. Unlike humans, they cannot simply sit down and take classes for them. While it might help them clearly hear the pronunciation and ways of said language, they cannot become fluent in reading or writing from studies alone.

Their ability to understand languages depends on their national language(s), the culture, the languages spoken in their territory, their history, and how willing the government is open to other cultures. For example, the United Kingdom’s main language is English, but he can also understand Scots, Welsh, Scottish Gaelic, Irish, Manx Gaelic, and a few smaller regional languages within his borders. He also has some fluency in foreign languages like french, which be can understand more than he can write it, or Polish, which his only issue is his pronunciation. Historically, the British Empire could understand yet not speak many, MANY other languages but the British Empire collapsed a long time ago, and he cannot understand them. On the other side of said spectrum, is North Korea, whom only speaks Korean, some very broken Chinese, and English with a heavy accent. His government’s horrific control and strict culture have stunted his ability to communicate with many people. The more scarce those who can speak and teach it are, the less the country can speak it, understand it, and write it. If a native language to a country dies completely, even if said language was standard and strong for that country, they loose all ability to comprehend it.

Now, there is one exception for said rule, and that is America. America somehow has the ability to hear a living language a few times and become fully fluent. This ability baffles humans and countries alike, even he has no idea how he does it. Hell, it let him understand animals! Mostly birds, but still. He’s a known anomaly in many ways among countries however, and they simply see it as another one of his quirks.

It is rumored among historians and older countries that their ancient ancestors had the same ability as America, to communicate and fulfill duties without trouble. But these are simply rumors and the only one with any knowledge of the ancient ancestors is rarely ever willing to be seen by anyone.

Strange how a comparatively young country has the same abilities as the ones that came before humanity.

This may be a hot take but I actually love how other people portray their Countryhumans. Like, genuinely. Yap session below sorry fellas

I enjoy seeing how other people’s CHs interact with each other. I like seeing if their world has Human humans and how the CHs interact and feel about them. I especially like how some people ACTUALLY give them personalities, and personal histories, and relationships instead of just stereotypes or simply the amalgamation of the nation’s politics. I like when Countryhumans are countryHUMANS, not just athro countries. The stereotypes can be funny too, I enjoy seeing people poking fun at stereotypes, while also embracing their culture.

Now what I don’t like is when people police others. You don’t have the right to say that someone can’t give these characters hobbies or relationships or personal histories because it’s disrespectful or cringe or stupid or whatever, countryhumans as a concept is already so unserious and stupid!

these people that try to moral police others about how they portray these CONCEPTS (CHs has no canon, history doesn’t even have to be a part of it! that’s how lose the canon is. The only constraint is that they have to represent a nation in some way.)

I don’t like when people say “you shouldn’t treat your CHs like XY&Z for AB&C reasons” like I feel like people like that try so hard to get the approval of antis. Antis are gonna hate no matter how polished your CHs are.

Something my daddy said to me was “just…create and let people create” and that stuck with me. So I genuinely stopped caring if people ship SovAme/RusAme or RusGer or FranceBrit because genuinely WHO CARES. Who cares. I know I don’t. It’s not that important. If it affects you that much just ignore it! I’ve grown to the point where I don’t even care about ThirdUnion. Which is, by far, the most controversial ship in this fandom. For good reason but honest to god I just don’t care.

And even platonic relationships. Some people would probably say to me “Ukraine can’t love her father because he starved her”. (Ignoring that this isn’t how it happened in my lore; but regardless) even if Soviet did starve Ukraine herself, people have complicated dynamics with their abusive parents sometimes. And some people still love and care about them because being a HUMAN is messy. That, for my lore, includes being a countryHUMAN.

Maybe another reason why people get offended about other people’s lore is because they may have subconsciously forgotten that their own lore isn’t the “canon”. Like. My Soviet (yes, yes I did develop him the most shut up) didn’t have to fuck anyone to have his kids. He just… got a bump on his skin one day and a few months later a baby popped out. But then I saw someone say that Soviet met a woman named “mother Russia” and I was like, in my head, “that’s not what happened” and then I remembered; oh wait, there no canon. Never mind! As cool as I think cell division is, it’s completely fine to have another character help your CH’s give birth. On that same note you can’t go up to me and say “You can’t get yourself pregnant that not how it works!! Because… like yeah maybe for YOUR little guys. But MY little guys are like jellyfish. They reproduce asexually in my lore.

(which doesn’t inherently make them Asexual oh no no no. Oh god no. Lord, do my little guys fuck and have affairs a lot. How do you think I explained the existence of the British royal family? Britain FUCKED some lady and accidentally made a bunch of royal in bred chuckle fucks.)

And also may I add the homophobia in this fandom. Some people claim “they can’t be gay because most countries are homophobic so it makes no sense!!” But I think they forget that homophobic homosexuals exist. Internalized homophobia, my friends! And furthermore, I think it’s absolutely ridiculous to believe that everyone should write them the way that YOU do. Why do YOU care? They’re not YOUR countryhumans they’re not YOUR designs. For example Russia. There is this man named Boris Pavlov who is his political advisor / paper looker-over-er. Like… kinda like a secretary? In my lore they’re called advisors. Anyway, Boris (Male) and Russia (Male) fell in love :). This leaves Russia conflicted and upset. Internalized homophobia is such a great writing tool for Countryhumans I think you all are missing out on that. That was my excuse to mention my sweet sweet Boris Pavlov. Look at him

Here’s my lore

All countryhumans are semi- multilingual. They speak the language / the main language of their respective countries, but they have the ability to understand other countryhumans. Like let’s say Ame is speaking English. Germany would be hearing what America is saying in German.

Some also chose to learn other languages because they wish to speak to human foreigners from other regions (Yes, humans exist in the countryhumans universe I created.)

now there are some cases that are more complicated. Soviet has 15 kids and most if not all of them have different languages. They all grew up speaking Russian, but gained the ability to speak their respective country’s languages at 18. So the SSR’s are the most “bilingual” (they speak Russian + their language) since they can actually SPEAK both languages instead of just being able to understand them inherently.

Most of them choose to learn their other siblings languages out of respect for each other, for example Russia can speak Ukrainian, Uzbek, Kazakh and the others. And vice versa. So for me it’s complicated.
