Hi again! I wanted to thank the community for the tips for in Poland! Had to cut my trip short, so I couldn’t explore as much as I was hoping to, but I need to keep some stuff for next time right? :) Got cool souvenirs so I’m happy! Wanted to contribute to the fandom by sharing a few doodles I did last year when I just started getting into it. Sorry about the low quality of the doodles, but I just wanted to show my gratitude in some way or another. <3

Hi OiM/WFAS Tumblr! I’m a huge fan of the movie and I’m going to be in Poland for like 2 weeks. Are there any sights I should see or anything I should do? (the Henryk Sienkiewicz museum in Poznan is on my list) I have unlimited train travel so anywhere is possible! I’m going hunting for the book as well as a souvenir for back home. (hopefully I can find it in English!) Wish me luck 👍

It's going to be a bit subjective, but I will try anyway:

My beloved place related to Henryk Sienkiewicz, his "Trilogy" and of course "With Fire and Sword" is not so much that museum in Poznań, you have mentioned here, but another Sienkiewicz's museum, located in his tiny manor house in Oblęgorek. What is so special in this place? Foremost, it was not a house Henryk inherited or bought himself, but... it was a gift. In 1900 Polish people gathered money and built a manor house, which - together with some estate - was donated to Sienkiewicz in gratitude for the "Trilogy" and his another writings. From the mid-20th century, there is a museum devoted to him and his novels. There is for example a collection of art (paintings, drawings, etc.) related to the "Trilogy".

Not far away from the Oblęgorek is a beautiful, really breathtaking region called Polish Jurassic Highland or Polish Jura (Jura Krakowsko-Częstochowska). Besides picturesque landscapes, we have there two main locations from the "With Fire and Sword":

Pieskowa Skała Castle - most of the "court" scenes in the movie, I mean, the scenes, where historical, store architecture is visible (both interiors and exteriors), were filmed there. And of course the courtyard with the gothic gate, where Jurko, Jan and Helenka said "goodbye", is also part of this castle:

2. Jaskinia Nietoperzowa ('The Bat's Cave') - served as Horpyna's cave with a waterfall in the film:

I’m going to Cinemaqua in Hungary today to see the The terror film set irl. Its in a rural suburban town in Hungary and I can’t speak any Hungarian and I’m by myself so this is going to be real fun. Genuinely excited to go see it but no idea how I’m gonna have to navigate talking to people. Wish me luck!
