I thought this was interesting. Simone told the team USA staff around her that she wanted to pull out from the competition and they told her no you’re fine. Eventually they listened to her.

#any gymnast besides simone wouldn't have probably been allowed to sit out still for mental health reasons#and it's unreasonable to expect a teenager to argue with their coaches and trainers#they are the adults they should be putting the gymnasts health first

saying simone was not a good team player is the absolute worst take. she was the ultimate team player today. she knew she was not able to perform at her best but she had complete faith in her teammates’ ability and she put her energy into the role that would be most useful to them.

All of those idiots forgetting that if she had competed in that mental space the team may not have medaled at all. So much more mature and for the TEAM attitude to step back and trust your teammates and give them the opportunity to win a medal!
