Todd smiled at the girl as he handed back her notebook, himself hiding his hands in his pockets since it was cold outside and he forgot his gloves out in a hurry. “Oh. Don’t. It’s no problem really, I’m just glad you got back your notebook. Even more when it’s so important to you.”

“No, I insist!” she said with a big smile. “I really don’t know what I would’ve done if I hadn’t found it. I’d be embarrassed as hell if anyone read it... You didn’t read it, did you?” asked Riley, a bit nervously.

Penelope listened to the girl ramble as she sighed, running her fingers through her hair before crossing them over her chest. “You some kind of witch?”

“Wh-- what? No, I’m not!” Riley answered, taken aback by the question. She just stood there in silence for a couple of seconds, not really sure on how to carry on with the conversation. “It’s just a small, leather-covered notebook with some personal stuff in it, and that’s why I want it back. I promise I’m not into any sort of witchcraft or wizardry, I’m one hundred per cent muggle. Would you help em find it?”

Nadia’s head shot from her phone screen at the familiar voice behind her. She immediate turns to see her sister Riley worried and nervous about a notebook. “Riley, hey. I haven’t seen your notebook, do you know where did you last placed it?”

Swallowing an answer that wouldn’t be appropriate, Riley took a deep breath, relieved for having at least one of her siblings with her. “I don’t know where I left it. I just know I had it with me this morning, but after my first class... I just can’t remember!” she scratched her neck, annoyed by herself. “I just don’t want people to read it, you know? There’s personal stuff in there...”

“You mean this one?” said Todd as he showed her a notebook quite similar to the one she was describing. “I found this on a bench in the park. I figured someone would eventually come back to get it.”

“Yes! Oh my God, thank you so very much!” Riley replied with a big smile, taking the notebook in her hands with a relieved sigh. “This is my dreams notebook, I’ve started doing it when I was fourteen, you see... So it is really special to me. I think I should pay you somehow... Would like some coffee, or... Something?” the brunette offered with a little shrug.

“Oh, hi! Excuse me” said Riley, with a nervous smile.”Have you seen a small, leather-covered notebook? It’s mine, and it’s really important to me... I never leave the house with it, I don’t know why today--” she stopped herself, realizing she was over sharing out of nervousness. “By any chance, have you seen it?”
