Lemme break this down for ya’ll - Maya Hart does not need babying, or protecting. Do not treat her as though she’s fragile, and needs to be tiptoed around. Maya’s strong as fuck, and she’s allowed to have moments where she isn’t - it makes her human - but don’t mistake her for not being a warrior. Maya is one of my favourite characters of all time and I don’t want to see her given the boy out of pity, fuck that. If Lucas picks her, great she’s fucking amazing, and if he doesn’t, she’ll get passed it. Because Maya Hart does not revolve around a boy, because Maya Hart can get through anything, because Maya Hart can find her own damn happiness, and it’s disrespectful for you to assume otherwise.

If GMW decides to do a story focusing on depression (which they 100% should do!) then I think that  they should base it around Riley. I think it’s important to teach people that depression doesn’t just effect people after loss, or who have suffered pain, that it can happen to those who in the eyes of others “have no reason” to be depressed. It’s ridiculous the amount of people who tell others that they need to “get over things” and that “other people have it much worse than you”. I know of several family members who suffer from depression, and they’ve all said it just crept up on them, nothing triggered it, it just slowly, but surely spread itself in their mind. That’s what depression does, it’s often not sudden, and it isn’t necessarily triggered (that’s not to say it never is). I don’t know, I just think that the writers have such a strong voice among younger viewers and it would be stupid not to use it for issues as prominent in our society as depression.
