ROW update #1

I've been writing my first draft for the last two weeks. as of now we are seven chapters in. every single day I am rewriting, and editing constantly. having this blog to organize my thoughts, gush over my characters, and get inspiration seems to be really helping me! I'm thinking of showing my blog to a couple close internet friends. for some reason I lack confidence in showing people any of my work despite how I am excited to create this story. it is such a strange anxiety that has been haunting me lately. my partner has told me that it's because creating a whole world and special characters must be incredibly vulnerable for me especially since its my first time. I think he's right.

major thank you to the amazing people on pinterest who allow everyone to make mood boards out of their art. making mood boards for some of my characters was really helpful in my process. I'll try to write some more blurbs about each character soon. trying my best to keep them spoiler free just in case I end up publishing my story somewhere.

king raphael of notres tenebres <3 the lord of the vampires

where to even begin with raphael. raphael is a powerful vampire king that resides in his kingdom of notres tenebres, the furthest place north you can get in cleyles. his kingdom dreary, chilling, and built up of gothic architecture. not many know a whole lot about raphael, not even what he looks like. there are many rumors about him that have been told all over cleyles about him and the way he runs his kingdom. he runs the kingdom alone, he sees no need for a queen or partner to rule with him. his independence is an important factor of raphaels character. his court includes dimitri (his military general), luca (his intelligence general), and Emmeline (his younger sister). raphael is allegedly two hundred sixty three years old.

raphaels appearance rumored to be very dracula/trad-vamp like when he actually is very far from that. raphael has very tanned skin, opposed to everyones assumption that vampires are pale as snow, he has dark brown and messy loose curly hair. he has feline-like eyes that are a deep dark shade of cherry red. his nose being a staple feature on his face with a slight bump similar to the statues we have seen of greek gods. his mouth also cat-like especially when he smiles. raphael is what we would currently call a "sleeper build" also known as muscular thin, he is about five feet ten inches tall, but his proportions are lanky, with long legs, and a long torso. He typically wears the preferred fashion style of his kingdom which is similar to old victorian wear but if he's feeling casual it's typically just a loose blouse styled shirt, and black pants. rarely seen without boots. raphael loves his boots.

as for raphaels personality... though he can be cruel, blood-thirsty, manipulative, and sneaky; he is a major care-taker type of personality. he takes in those who need to be taken care of while handing them a set of cards that is better than what they were previously dealt. raphaels sense of humor is considered flirtatious and sarcastic but when he's serious raphael can be extremely quick and intelligent.

when creating raphael I created my dream fictional boy. morally grey, sweet, a bloodsucker, and of course... secretly a loser. I think raphael will hopefully be the type of character to make us laugh, cry, and sweat. I wrote some little quirks about raphael that will appear later in the story that just make me love him even more than I did when I first came up with the character. I was so obsessed with allowing him to exist in a world where not a lot of people outside of his kingdom knew what he looked like as well. keeping his appearance a mystery and everyone being oh so wrong about him. I'm really excited to keep writing more of his wit. little bits of his personality and appearance have been inspired by a loved one of mine (minus his major flaws... we couldn't do morally grey without a lil lack of morals) so I hold raphael extremely close to my heart and soul <3 also writing this blurb about him felt nearly impossible because his mystery is such a big part of him.

princess lilith of wysterian <3 an eldest sister, a girl as pretty as her name

lili carries the burden of being next in line to run her kingdom after two tragic passings of her parents just 8 years apart. she is 24 years old and soon to be married to prince devon of oceavia by her 25th year around the sun, arranged by her father before he was brutally murdered during the war. lili is a princess who is against tradition but must maintain them due to her role in the kingdom. her court includes her little sister (princess eden), marisa (her right hand lady and best friend), and quin (her military general, her other best friend, and marisas older brother).

liliths appearance is described as royally beautiful. she has long white wavy hair that goes down her back and stops right above her hips. she has big dark chocolate brown eyes, and long black eyelashes. her eyebrows are dark and don't match her hair color. her build is toned yet slender from the training she does with her general. she often wears beautiful custom made gowns that touch the floor. she loves a sweetheart neckline with a corset to pair. but when she is training in case of emergency combat, she typically wears black leathers for her pants and a grey or white tank-top. she stands at about five feet and six inches tall. she has a tiara with three bits of amethyst at each point but she only wears it when she has to attend any royal events.

liliths personality can be deemed as cold if you don't take the time to understand her. she used to be much more bubbly before her parents died and before she took on the burden of running a kingdom as only a princess. lilith keeps her inner circle small and secluded, she is not quick to trust anyone and she is not afraid of making that extremely clear. for those who haven't gotten to know her, she is confrontational, non-traditional, and cut throat. but for those who have had the pleasure of getting close to her know that she cares harder than anyone else they've ever known, and she would die for any of her loved ones.

as for me (the writer), lilith is my baby. i came up with the character of lilith many years ago when i was young. in my head i wanted a female main character that loved wearing gorgeous gowns while also was super against the misogyny that is deeply rooted in a lot of royalty/fantasy. the highs and lows of liliths royal blood being a big topic in my story. lili being unapologetically cruel when necessary was something also very important to me. trying to describe this special girl without ruining so many important parts of this story is such a challenge to me. I pray that one day I become more confident so I can share her story so that anyone who finds her and needs her so they can relate or maybe even be inspired by her will be able to cherish her just like I do. if for some reason anyone ever sees this please feel free to ask about her :')

Welcome to Cleyles

My whole life i’ve wanted to write a fantasy story that had chaos, non traditional vampires, and a badass princess. In my first book ever Ring Of Wysterian, I am finally making that happen.

This is a story about Princess Lilith of Wysterian. She is next in line to become queen after her father was beheaded by the former king of Notres Tenebres, the kingdom that is on the furthest north side of Cleyles and her mother falling tragically ill. She is arranged to marry her neighboring kingdom of Oceavias very own Prince Devon. She knows that she doesn’t want to marry him but she know that she has to marry him due to her fathers arrangement that she promised she’d go through with & the fact that commoners would try to overthrow without a proper ruler. Unfortunately she finds out that due to an old tradition within Wysterian that she needs a powerful ring called the Ring of Wysterian in order to be crowned queen. It is rumored that King Raphael, the current king of Notres Tenebres may have it and Lilith is determined to kill him for that ring. Will she receive the ring in time? Will she have to marry a man that she doesn’t find interesting? Will the kingdom be overthrown?
