📚 I’m Rion (REE-on), a glad student in Slavic Literature. Mainly 19th Century Czech, sometimes general Russian. I understand Japanese, English, Czech and Russian.

Went to another study date with my partner! I need to finish reading the long Czech classic novel in a week and I’m really pushing it right now…

Literature major for me means that reading underrepresented novels is my job which is awesome, but it also means that my favorite character sometime dies and I have no one to talk because I’m the only person in my country who’ve ever read the novel 🥲

Study date with my partner! I’m so lucky to have her :)

Recently I invested in a heat-resistant glass cup and it largely improved my caffeinated life. It’s getting unbearably hot in Kyoto (it’ll be 35 degrees Celsius next Sunday), so iced latte and a glass which is able to tolerate it is a must for me!

If you’re in the northern hemisphere like me, let’s stay hydrated together during the hot season :D

I was planning to graduate after getting my masters, but I think I want to go for PhD. I think even my professor is encouraging it indirectly. But hey, this is a big thing to consider…

Also recently I found out that one of my mutuals from another platform is enrolling in a masters program in my university! I hope she and I can find each other in the campus next year.

Other than that, still reading the long ass novel. Having fun with it, at least.

Long time no see! I recently got a Plotter writing pad and it somehow reminded me of this blog and gradblr community.

My research keeps getting more and more interesting. I’m trying something big to fund my academic life!

A kind person pointed out that I made a typo… My native language considers L sounds as Rs and there are many words that I misremembered because of that as a teen :(

I’m a bit embarrassed that a post with a typo got more popular than my other ones, but it is like that sometimes

Czech literature sounds so interesting! How did you decide that this what you wanted to pursue in education? And what do you like about the subject?

Hi! Thanks for the question :)

As for my choice, first and foremost, it was what I wanted to do. I studied the subjects I hate so hard to pass the university entrance exam, so I decided to do what I like once I became a uni student.

My main field is Czech historical literature. It gives us information not only on history itself, but also on how various people with various viewpoints had narrated it. I think that’s the most interesting thing for me.

Attended a 2-hour long meeting, did a job interview, wrote 2 lengthy emails, and yet today’s goal for personal project is achieved! I don’t go to bed this early, but I think today I deserve a longer sleep 🛌
