For week two of the Jotch Appreciation Month over at @jotch!
Okay, so I have a lot of scenes between them that I love - and a lot of those scenes are the ones that have already been spoken in great length (and much more eloquently than I could) by everyone this week, so Iāve decided to go for some of the more subtle moments between JJ and Hotch. Because secretly, theyāre the ones that grab me and make me flail. Itās those quiet moments that arenāt focused on in the scene where they really shine.
This moment (and then when sheās getting out of the ambulance) is such a subtle one, but for me it speaks volumes. Thereās no hesitation on either part, it just happens - of course he was going to help her into the ambulance, and of course she was going to lean on him for that support. Itās a subtle moment, but I think it shows so much about their characters.
THIS WAVE. How adorable is this little wave they do at each other??? Again, itās such a small moment, but itās just so cute that I couldnāt leave it out.
God I love it when they plot things together. I have so much fun when they do this. Because in context, this is such an āomg look our plan is working but letās be chill about celebrating so we donāt give the game awayā look. HOWEVER out of context, it most definitely looks like theyāre checking each other out.Ā
OH LOOK ANOTHER OF THEIR SCHEMES. I love so much how JJ played that detective, but itās the look she shoots Hotch (and the little nod of approval he gives her) that kills me every time. Itās scenes like this that make me think AJ completely hit the nail on the hand by calling them Batman and Robin. Because they have such an awesome working partnership, thatās entirely based on how well they GET each other. Ugh. I wish we had more scenes like this every week.
THIS MOMENT OMG. I donāt even know why I adore it so much. Itās such a tiny moment in the background, not one youāre supposed to focus on at all, but it draws my attention every time. Because I love any occasion where they have a conversation without speaking, but also because itās such a domestic little moment? I LOVE IT.
Ugh I canāt even put into words why I love this little moment. I think itās something about the way sheās sat and the look she gives him, but thereās just SOMETHING about it that makes me want to write all the fic about them. I also really want her to hook her leg around his seat and pull him closer.Ā
GAH. Okay. So, sheās having to stretch a little to make this contact, and she doesnāt slow down or say anything to him, but itās like she couldnāt NOT touch him. Itās like she had to reassure herself that heās actually here and okay. I hate that we got the stills from the episode before where he collapsed and we can see JJ and Rossi hovering over him and JJ holding his hand BUT THEY CUT THE SCENE because I think that would have fit so well with this. Her need to just reach out and make sure heās really there. Ugh. Iām making myself so emotional about thisā¦
THIS ENTIRE DAMN EPISODE, I SWEAR TO GOD. But this bit in particular. I mean, there is literally no reason for them to lean so close that their eyelashes are almost brushing the othersā face. No reason at all. And yet, here we are. Itās almost as though their bodies just kept leaning in, and they just rolled with it. I donāt have a gif of it, but thereās another moment not long after this that I love - after Hotch has jumped down into the hole to save the kid, when heās lifting him out of it, JJ is hovering with her hands near Hotchās back the entire time, waiting to help if he needs it, and itās such a protective move that I flail every single time. And yes, @lilygarlands, THIS IS 10x05 AKA THE EPISODE I KEEP TELLING YOU TO WATCH!!!
Okay, I think thatās probably enough for now. I could literally go on forever about these subtle moments, but I need to stop myself now. I just love these two crazy kids.
