we all know Oikawa's pretty good with kids, I mean he loves and cares about his nephew a lot and since he has older siblings who are probably married and have kids, he knows how to handle them
and I won't lie, I feel like he'd show that he wants kids a LOT but indirectly
such as visiting the baby aisle when you go shopping
or stopping by a kids playground and smiling at the kids playing there before telling you that they look really cute
and it's not that you didn't want to have kids with Tooru, I mean he was your husband after all and you've been married for enough time to start trying for kids, but you were just waiting for the right time ask him
so at one point, Tooru kind of gives up on the idea of convincing you to start trying for kids since he didn't want to force you into something you didn't like
after all, parenthood is something very important and has to be taken seriously ; you have to be ready to commit a 100% into raising your child and he definitely did not want you to regret anything
so he decided to drop the subject that he never really brought up and just waited for the right time for both of you
Today, you had to go to Target to get a few stuff for the house along with groceries and you and Tooru decided to get separated for a moment since you split the list on half
but while walking through the many aisles, you spotted the baby aisle and your heart started drumming against your chest at the thought of a kid with your husband
you slowly approached the aisle and started checking out the many baby clothing items and your heart melted at how small they were and how the shoes could easily fit on your palm
"So cute," you whispered before putting the shoes in the basket and went back to look for your husband
Tooru was waiting patiently for you at the register so that you could finally pay for the stuff that you got and the moment his eyes landed on the baby shoes he felt like his entire body was on fire
he eyed you for a moment just to make sure that you were being forreal about what you just bought, and based on the red tint on your cheeks and ears, you were definitely not joking
he couldn't help the small grin making its way to his face before he was thanking the worker and started heading out to the car
Finally breaking the silence, Tooru speaks up, leaving your body tingling in all sorts
Normally speaking, both of you and your husband are switches, which means you could easily be both the dom and the sub

okay so, I headcanon Oikawa as someone who would start keeping track of your period the moment you start trying for babies
you find it cute tbh but it's also a bit stressful whenever he starts doing the countdown until your period
"75 hours," "Tooru," "I'm just nervous!"
So when you actually did miss your period, you lied and said that you got it cause you were super nervous and you felt guilty at the disappointed look on his face
"ah..guess we'll just try another time,"
you didn't need to try another time
you held the third pregnancy test in your shaky hands and you were honestly about to collapse when you saw the two lines again on the little screen
you were actually pregnant and you didn't know how to tell Tooru about it
I mean for God's sake, you lied to him about getting your period, but you were pretty sure he'd understand
So after setting up a few stuff in the kitchen, you made sure to wrap up the pregnancy tests in paper and hide them in one drawer and put one bun in the oven and waited patiently for your husband to come back home
"I'm home!" speaking of which
you immediately went to greet him and Oikawa was quick to notice that you were crying a little bit
"Hey, did something happen?" immediately dismissing the reason as to why you were pregnant, you dragged him to the kitchen and told him that you had something for him there that he needed to find
"Something here?" he asked as he looked everywhere, the drawers, the cabinets, the little containers that you had, the fridge
He just didn't check the oven
"The oven— oh there's a bun in here," then he went silent before looking up at you, confusion written on his face
"A bun in the oven? a bun in the ove— OH MY GOD A BUN IN THE OVEN!" whatever he had in his hands was immediately dropped on the counter before he was taking you in his arms, burying his face in your neck and you could hear the little sobs escaping his lips, your heart melting at the next few words that left his lips
"I promise that I'm going to do my best to be the ideal father"
➪ Pregnancy/Gender reveal
Ever since you learned that you were pregnant, you have never seen your husband as careful with you as he is now
not that he wasn't careful at the beginning, but now he doesn't let you do the smallest tasks
which can be a bit annoying not gonna lie
you were trying to walk up stairs until you felt someone take you in their arms and start carrying you up
"Tooru, I can walk you know," you scowled a little bit but still held onto him
"I don't want you to get tired along with the baby"
but other than that, your pregnancy has been going very smoothly
you experienced morning sickness your first trimester but after that, everything went smoothly
and today was the day where you were going to find out the gender of your baby
Tooru insisted that he should accompany you to your doctor but you refused, knowing very well that he would probably start screaming right there and then
So when you found out about the gender, you were so excited to tell your husband but you still needed to stop by Target to get a few stuff at first
It took you less than 45 minutes before you were finally back at home
Tooru, from his spot on the stool in the kitchen, immediately stood up and greeted you with a huge grin, his eyes twinkling in excitement to find out exactly if you were going to have a boy or a girl
You didn't say anything, just handed him a small paper bag and waited for his reaction with a huge smile
"this is a Hershey's bar- oh" his eyes widens when he notices the way it's printed out, the two letters H and E being in blue so that it was Hershey's
You were going to welcome a baby boy very soon
➪ Going into labor/Delivery
Oikawa bought many books about birth giving and just pregnancy in general
every night, he would read about it when you fell asleep just to make sure that he was ready for the day your water would break and you would hurry to the hospital to finally deliver your little boy
but he didn't think that your water would break in the car, on your way back home from a family gathering out of any time
"Bad timing little one, really bad timing," Tooru mumbled as he ran around the house looking for the bag that you had prepared for when you had to go to the hospital and once he found it, he didn't even know how he scrambled out of the house and locked the door before rushing back to you inside the car, making sure that you didn't have bad contractions
"we're gonna be at the hospital soon baby, just hold on a bit longer"
Tooru never thought that seven hours would feel like an eternity, your little moans in pain along with the writhing on the bed made him wish he could ease some of your suffering
and when it was time to push, he felt his soul leave his body to be very honest
he let you hold his hand tightly, crush and squeeze it and he didn't make a single sound. Instead, he kissed your forehead, whispered against your cheek just how much of a good job you were doing and how he is so proud of you
"We can see the head, give us one more push Mrs. Oikawa!"
His heart stopped at the doctor's words and looked at you with hopeful eyes, and it was as if you just needed that one look before you were pushing one last time then—
Tooru couldn't hold back his tears, and he watched as the nurse placed your little baby boy on your chest before he was placing his lips against yours
Me and Mar already discussed that Oikawa would probably want to have 3 kids at most, more preferably two boys and one girl
he wants a little princess to spoil her rotten and make sure that she knows that boys are very "smelly and don't deserve her time" but he also wants to teach his boys everything about volleyball and how to get a girlfriend
"You know, one day she's gonna get a boyfriend and you won't be able to do anything about it," you said teasingly as you watched your husband interact with his seven month old daughter laying on his stomach, telling her that she didn't need any boy as long as he was alive and he turned to fake pout at you
"Ah (Y/N)!" but he's immediately distracted by his daughter trying to mimick the sound he just made through a small squeal that made his heart melt
"You heard that!" he turned towards you with twinkling eyes "she responded to me!"
But Tooru as a father is honestly everything you could've asked for
He always makes sure to be there for his kids both physically and emotionally, making sure to celebrate the many milestones by praising them or buying cakes, never missing his boys' games even if they chose another sport besides volleyball
he would lowkey try to convince them that volleyball is better but always adds "IT'S UP TO YOU AT THE END" at the end
I'm very sure that he lectures his boys at least three times a month about the importance of protecting their little sister and why it's very important for them to be her emotional support in case a boy breaks her heart and how it's very bad to break a girl's heart
"Girls need to be treated like—" "princesses yes dad, they're as beautiful as roses, even more if possible and we should be very careful when approaching them"
you laugh at the shocked look on your husband's face when your second son repeated exactly what his father says every month
your sons are also the heartthrobs of their school but you didn't hear me say that
UNCLE IWAIZUMI IS THEIR FAVORITE UNCLE BYE
they enjoy the way their father's childhood friend bullies him, especially his daughter
"Hey, don't steal my daughter from me" "as if I can, the word dad never leaves her mouth when I take her out on walks when you're not around"
