We’ve been on the go! All summer we had the pleasure of traveling to various markets and meeting some amazing people! We participated in Porter Flea, our first market in Nashville a few weeks ago. What an event! So many great vendors and so well organized and SO MUCH FUN! I think I have to start doing a New Friends / Andy’s Picks journal entry just to introduce you to the great makers and people we meet. We also stayed the weekend with Port of Raleigh in early July and fell in love with Ana Maria, the owner and vision behind the store’s modern aesthetic. Some other amazing events - First Friday in Raleigh with Raleigh Denim, and we also had a wonderful time at Patchwork Market where it was so good to see our returning customers faces! We’re laying low with markets until October so that I can work on some Fall freshness for you and gear up for Holiday season. But you can find us Oct. 1 at Crafty Bastards in D.C.!Â
Also shown above : Amelia’s Flower Truck - What a good concept! / The sweetest Kathleen of Smoke Perfume wearing a custom Rise & Ramble piece / Myself with the lovely Rebekka of Camellia Fiber Company. Click the photo to see the gallery!

Planning our booth for some upcoming markets and have some new ideas and fixtures in store! Can't wait to share all the details with you!
Excuse our brief hiatus from the journal. Ever since the release of the Essentials Collection in May we’ve been spinning in circles! I can’t thank every one enough for all the continuous support and positive response we’ve been receiving. Between prepping and going to events, keeping up with orders, and planning and playing with new stuff for the future - I have to remind myself to slow down, to breathe, and take it all one step at a time. Here’s to a slow Sunday before a busy week.
New colors and silhouettes in the works - To stay up-to-date follow via Instagram @riseandramble. A window into our every day with lots of fun process photos too.
Dyeing with logwood extract today :: Logwood comes from the heart of the logwood tree and yields deep purples to blues. Usually found in the forests of Central America, it use dates back to the 18th century.
Color studies // Kirstie van Noort’s work with ceramics reminds me of some of the natural dyes used in coloring fibers. Kirstie is a researcher, designer, and ceramist from the Netherlands and here she uses materials to discover colors for ceramic paint. These materials were dried and ground, diluted with water and applied as color coating her earthenware and china. So much of the color palette and process are similar to using natural dyes for fibers. See more of her work and studies on her site at kirstievannort.nl or on her IG @kirstievannoort.
