Rhythms and Intervals

I think the two things that have helped me make better music the most is focusing on rhythms and having a decent understanding of how intervals relate to each other (Circle of Fifths).

Rhythmic Music, Blues

From my understanding funk is major/upbeat music with a heavy focus on rhythm, and rhythm and blues is minor/sadder songs; they both share the blues scale and rhythm is the name of the game. The melodies in funk are more percussive too, and RnB uses big 7th and 9th chords...

Music Formulas

I think the only purpose of music theory should be to help you make the type of music that you want directly, same with sound design. Think about what it should be before you make it (beatboxing a groove and singing a melody helps) Being formulaic can be fun!

Constantly thinking about the connection between Blues, RnB and Funk music...

This pattern of playing the major Blues scale is super simple.

Music goals

keep track of and implement improvements in music

Making a list of things that I want to change with my music from now on... for now its:

- write more minutes of music

- draw cover art to upload music

- use the major blues scale more

- use double stops/chords when possible

- balance amp and distortion when mastering

- unique sections by default unless repetition is needed

- change strings on guitars so all the strings are the same on it

- keep the frequency spectrum even

- make music tik toks somehow
