Okay this is annoying the shit out of me so let’s go: Hamilton and Self Shipping
For those of you who say if you like Hamilton or ship with Hamilton, you’re racist, can you please fucking like, watch the goddamn musical?
It specifically talks about John Laurens wanting to free 3000 slaves and how anti-slavery he was. He died young, so he didn’t get to do that, but he wanted to. And the show was almost an entirely POC cast to combat the fact that some of the founding fathers were slave owners and racist, and the only white person is King George, and obviously he’s the bad guy during the revolutionary war.
This musical only covers one period of time, it’s not anywhere close to the time when we actually started to fight about slavery. And also
It’s a fucking musical. There are plenty of things in it that I don’t like, like the fact that Angelica has to marry for money and not love, and that Alexander is a shitty dad and husband. But that doesn’t make the whole thing trash. They’re covering only one piece of history, and if you think it’s okay to send someone so much anon hate that it makes them fucking suicidal, THEN YOU ARE NO BETTER THAN THE ACTUAL RACISTS IN THE WORLD
